  • Induction heating process includes magnetic and thermal situations. In order to analyze the induction heating, material properties depending on temperature are considered. In this paper, three dimensional analysis of induction heating process for moving inductor is analyzed using moving coordinate. The skin effect is confirmed inside the steel plate in the electro-magnetic analysis. The heat generation at the initial state is different from that at the quasi-stationary state. Therefore, material properties depending on temperature must be considered. The results of finite element analysis agree well with the experimental temperature results.

  • Induction heating process is one of the most efficient heating process in terms of temperature control accuracy and heating time saving. In the past study, fabrication process of cellular 6061 alloys by powder metallurgical route and induction heating process was studied. To supplement the framing conditions that studied in past study, effect of induction heating capacity and holding time at foaming temperature were investigated. Under the achieved framing conditions, teamed 6061 alloys were fabricated for variation of foaming temperature, and porosities(%)-foaming temperature curves were obtained by try-error experimental method. Uniaxial compression tests were performed to investigate the relationship between porosities(%) and stress-strain curves of framed 6061 alloy. Also, energy absorption capacity and efficiency were calculated from stress-strain curves to investigated. Moreover, dependence of plateau stress on strain rate was investigated in case of cellular 6061 alloy with low porosities(%)

  • The effect of induction temperature on fermentation parameters has been investigated extensively using Escherichia coli M5248[pNKM21], a producer of recombinant human interleukin-2 (rhIL-2). In this recombinant microorganism, the gene expression of rhIL-2 is regulated by the cI857 repressor and $P_L$ promoter system. The recombinant fermentation parameters studied in this work include the cell growth, protein synthesis, cell viability, plasmid stability, $\beta$-lactamase activity, and rhIL-2 productivity. Interrelationships of such fermentation parameters have been analyzed through a quantitative assessment of the experimental data set obtained at eight different culture conditions. While the expression of rhIL-2 gene was repressed at culture temperatures below $34^\circ{C}$ with little effect on other fermentation parameters, under the conditions of rhIL-2 production $>(36~44^\circ{C})$ the cell growth, plasmid stability, and $\beta$-lactamase activity were, as induction temperature was increased, more profoundly reduced. Although the rhIL-2 content in the insoluble protein fraction was maximum at $40^\circ{C}$, total rhIL-2 production in the culture volume was found to be highest at the induction temperature of $36^\circ{C}$. This was in contrast to the previously known optimum induction temperature of the P$_{L}$ promoter system $>(40~42^\circ{C})$.Explanations for such a discrepancy have been proposed based on a product formation kinetics, and their implications have been discussed in detail.l.

  • The spontaneous ignition induction time and temperature distribution were observed by performing experiments for granulated activated carbon. As the results of the experiments at the same amplitude, the critical spontaneous ignition temperature was decreased with increase of the time period, while, the ignition induction time was increased with the increase of the time period. The critical spontaneous ignition temperature was decreased with the increase of the amplitude for the shorter period. The temperature distribution of the sample showed the highest around ignition-point at center of the vessel and after ignition the highest temperature was moved toward surface of the vessel.

  • Finite element analysis for induction heating process including magnetic and thermal situations is presented. Because magnetic and thermal material properties vary with the temperature, material properties depending on temperature are considered. As the inductor moves, the solution domains corresponding to the inductor change into those of the air and the solution domains corresponding to the air change into those of the inductor. For these reasons, modeling of induction heating process is very difficult with a general purpose commercial programs. In this paper, three dimensional analysis of induction heating process for moving inductor is analyzed using moving coordinate. The skin effect is confirmed inside the steel plate in the electro-magnetic analysis. The distribution of heat generation at the initial state is different from that at the quasi-stationary state. Therefore, material properties depending on temperature must be considered. The calculated results of finite element analysis agree well with the experimental temperature results. This approach is suitable to solve magneto-thermal coupled problems.

  • The TR forging is a kind of continuous grain flow forging. The preform of crank shaft for TR forging process was a round bar with a ring groove. In the first stage, the preform was partly heated by induction heating and then forged by vertical and horizontal force in sequence. In this study, the simulation process of induction heating was proposed to evaluate the temperature distribution of preform for TR forging. The equivalent circuit method was adopted to find coil current of the preform with a various dimensions and power levels. With these results, the coupled electromagnetic and transient thermal analysis for induction heating was performed to evaluate the temperature distribution at the preform of crank shaft during induction heating process. This FE analysis technique with equivalent circuit method was verified by comparing the analysis results with the experimental results.

  • Rapid mold heating has been recent issue to enable the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. Induction heating is an efficient way to heat material by means of an electric current that is caused to flow through the material or its container by electromagnetic induction. It has various applications such as heat treatment, brazing, welding, melting, and mold heating. The present study covers a finite element analysis of the induction heating process which can rapidly raise mold temperature. To simulate the induction heating process, the electromagnetic field analysis and transient heat transfer analysis are required collectively. In this study, a coupled analysis connecting electromagnetic analysis with heat transfer simulation is carried out. The estimated temperature changes are compared with experimental measurements for various heating conditions.

  • The time optimal position control design can be repeatedly taken from the initial state of a dynamic system to a desired one as fast as possible in the industrial drives. In this case, an induction machine parameters will vary due to temperature, frequency, and saturation effects. In particular, the rotor resistance changes critically with temperature and frequency. These changes affect the command values of the stator current components and slip speed. There is a mismatch between the commanded variables and actual ones of the induction motor drive, and this situation leads to coupling of the vector controller from the plant, i.e. the induction motor . Consequences of such a coupling include the initiation of oscillations of the rotor flux and unsuitable switching of electromagnetic torque for the induction motor servo drive. Therefore, this paper describes a rotor resistance parameter compensating method for the induction motor, And the validity of the proposed design method is confirmed by simulation studies and experiment results.

  • A comprehensive thermo-electromagnetic model has been developed to estimate temperature and electromagnetic distribution in an three-phase induction motor under steady state operation. Electromagnetic modeling enables us to predict thermal dissipation rates by eddy-current loss and copper loss in induction motors. Non-uniform temperature distributions are investigated to account for the strong effect of local temperature build-up on the motor performance and expected life-span. For more accurate thermal modeling purpose, Heat loss mapping method, which is matched up with electromagnetic losses and volumetric heat source, is developed and performed analysis. Heat loss mapping method can be greatly used as a design or diagnostic tool for three-phase induction motors with complex structural electromagnetic fields.
