  • This study investigates differences in hydrological responses to the climatic scenarios resulting from the use of different three hydrological models, PRMS, SLURP, and SWAT. First, the capability of the three models in simulating the present climate water balance components is evaluated at Andong-dam watershed. And then, the results of the models in simulating the impact using hypothetical climate change scenarios are analyzed and compared. The results show that three models have similar capabilities in simulating observed data. However, greater differences in the model results occur when the models are used to simulate the hydrological impact under hypothetical climate change. According as temperature change grows, the differences between model results is increasing because of differences of the evapotranspiration estimation methods. The results suggest that technique that consider the uncertainty by using different hydrological models will be needed when climate change impact assessment on water resources.

  • The primary objective of this study is to estimate the suitable flow in need for conservation and restoration of the fish habitat in running water ecosystem, which has very important status in the instream flow for stream environment. Year, monthly low flows are estimated to properly maintain the fish habitat. Water depth and velocity are simulated, and also water temperature and Dissolved Oxygen(DO) are predicted at gradually varied flow using estimated low flows. These simulated conditions for each low flow are graphically compared with the requirements to maintain fish habitat at each life stage. These processes were applied to 3 riffle transects located at Dalcheon(Dal stream) in the South Han river. Pirami (Zacco platypus) was selected as a representative fish species in Dalcheon. It was shown that the suitable flow for maintaining the representative fish habitat at each life stage depends on hydraulic conditions rather than water quality conditions, and the flow ranges from the 10-year minimum low flow to consecutive 7-day 2.33-year low flow.w flow.

  • The Monte-Carlo simulation of statistical analysis is used to investigate the final conditions of states as well as the footprint boundaries resulting from the atmospheric re-entry dispersions. The re-entry dispersions in this paper are specified by a $7\times7$ covariance matrix of latitude, longitude, altitude, bank angle, flight path angle, heading error, and range at entry velocity. The error sources that affect these at re-entry for a deboost are the uncertainties associated with atmospheric density and temperature, initial errors, wind, and estimation error of aerodynamic coefficients. Using $3{\sigma}_n$ deviations of these errors and a nominal flight trajectory, the covariance matrix of state variables can be determined by performing a trajectory error analysis. Major considerations in the application of the Monte-Carlo method are the simulation of perturbed trajectories, bank reversal, and determination of the impact points for each of these trajectories. This paper analyzes the results of uncertainties from the viewpoint of aero-coefficients and bank reversal.

  • Polygalacturonase(PG) was extracted from Chinese cabbage and partially purified by ammonium sulfate fractionation and ion-exchange chromatography. Three fractions, D-PG, C-1 PG, and C-2 PG, were separated by CM-Sephadex C-25 column chromatography and FPLC Mono Q HR 5/5 or Mono S HR 5/5 column and their physicochemical characteristics were investigated. All three fractions had optimum pH and temperature of 4.5 and $65^{\circ}C$, and were stable in the range of pH $4.5{\sim}8.0$. These fractions were inhibited by 0.8mM $CaCl_2$ or 0.6M NaCl. In the thermal inactivation of PC isozymes at $65{\sim}80^{\circ}C$, z-values were $8.4{\sim}9.3^{\circ}C$ and D-values at $80^{\circ}C$ were In the range of $120{\sim}126s$. Thermodynamic constants were calculated from thermal inactivation data of the isozymes and were applicable to estimation of thermal process time of retort pouched Kimchi.

  • Onions are grown in a few specific regions of Korea that depend on the climate and the regional characteristic of the production area. Therefore, when onion yields are to be estimated, it is reasonable to use a statistical model in which both the climate and the region are considered simultaneously. In this paper, using a spatial panel regression model, we predicted onion yields with the different weather conditions of the regions. We used the spatial auto regressive (SAR) model that reflects the spatial lag, and panel data of several climate variables for 13 main onion production areas from 2006 to 2015. The spatial weight matrix was considered for the model by the threshold value method and the nearest neighbor method, respectively. Autocorrelation was detected to be significant for the best fitted model using the nearest neighbor method. The random effects model was chosen by the Hausman test, and the significant climate variables of the model were the cumulative duration time of sunshine (January), the average relative humidity (April), the average minimum temperature (June), and the cumulative precipitation (November).

  • To evaluate the unit load generation and discharge, pig cage test was conducted. Feed intake, drink amount, and urine generation increased growth stage (heavy weight) of the pig more great. However, the sum of the urine and manure did not show a significant difference in the growth stages of pigs. Because of the limit of the experiment, e.g., research period, high pigpen temperature, breed-related stress and etc., it could not be derived the results of the four seasons. Therefore, in order to generalize the results, the feed intakes were calibrated using a NRC (National Research and nutritional requirements of pigs from the Commission) standards. The finalized unit load generation and generation amounts of manure and urine were estimated at BOD 104.1 g/head/d, T-N 21.2 g/head/d, T-P 4.9 g/head/d, manure 0.96 L/d, urine 1.66 L/d with consideration of revised feed intake. Compare to the former research results of MOE (Ministry of Environment, 1999) and NIAS (National Institute of Animal Science, 2008), the generation amounts of manure and urine were similar to the NIAS's values. In case of unit load generation, BOD and T-N were almost similar in all of them. However, the T-P unit load generation of MOE was more difference, e.g., 2.5 times high, compare to this study.

  • Although the exterior wood such as column may frequently contact with liquid water, little work has been found to measure liquid water absorption in wood. To investigate the moisture diffusivity of wood in the longitudinal direction including bound water and free water movement, liquid water absorption test was conducted at the room temperature. The order of magnitude for absorption coefficient and diffusivity was Japanese elm, horn beam, hemlock, spruce, radiata pine, and painted maple. The Boltzmann transformation method was used to determine the diffusivity from measured moisture content distributions in the absorption test. The shape of the curve representing the dependence of diffusivity with moisture content was similar in test samples. The diffusivity decreased with increasing moisture content until around the fiber saturation point and then increased at the nonhygroscopic region, which ranged from $10^{-10}$ to $10^{-7}m^2/s$.

  • This paper proposes a method to determine the elastic follow-up factors for the $C(t)$-integral under secondary stress. The rate of creep crack growth for transient creep is correlated with the $C(t)$-integral. Elastic follow-up behavior, which occurs in structures under secondary loading, prevents a relaxation of stress during transient creep. Thus, both the values of $C(t)$ and creep crack growth increase as increasing elastic follow-up. An estimation solution for $C(t)$ was proposed by Ainsworth and Dean based on the reference stress method. To predict the value of $C(t)$ using this solution, an independent method to determine the elastic follow-up factors for cracked bodies is needed. This paper proposed that the elastic follow-up factors for $C(t)$ can be determined by elastic-plastic analyses using the plastic-creep analogy. Finite element analyses were performed to verify this method.

  • Because of the limitations of maximal load tests for $VO_2max$, submaximal tests using cycle ergometer are used for field study in general. This study was conducted to evaluate validity of various submaximal tests using cycle ergometer. This study had been conducted during May to June 2005, which subjects were 15 males and 15 females in twenties. Experiment was performed with restrictive conditions which regulated ambient temperature, noise, and entrance restriction. Submaximal load test protocols including YMCA Protocol (YP), ${\AA}strand$-Rhyming Protocol (ARP), Relative heart ratio Protocol (RP), and Ramp test Protocol (RP) were compared with maximal load test which used gas mask analyser using Bruce Protocol. All submaximal load tests were highly related with maximal load test (Spearman's correlation coefficient > 0.60) with statistical significancy. The highest correlation coefficient with maximal test was found in RP. Three submaximal test results except RP were significantly different with maximal test results (Wilcoxon rank test). All submaximal tests had high validity. The reason why RP had highest validity might be that it represents Korean physical strength and individual differences better than the others. RP using cycle ergometer would make easy to study for physical capacity evaluation and field workload estimation.

  • Triethanolamine-type cationic surfactants were synthesized and their applications were established. The production of mono-, di-, and tri-TEA-EQ (triethanol-amine-esterquater) were dependent on the molar ratio of fatty acid and triethanolamine under the controlled reaction temperature. The structures were elucidated by $H^{1}$ NMR. Long-term stability was dependent on the amount of mono- and tri-TEA-EQ. When the amount of mono-TEA-EQ was increased, long-term stability was increased. However, the more tri-TEA-EQ made long-term stability decreased. Softening was dependent on the amount of saturated fatty acid, and re-wettability was counted on the amount of unsaturated fatty acid. Softening was measured by the method of sense estimation e.g. touching to home-towel. Absorption was determined to calculate the height of water on a towel after treatment.
