  • Usually, propagation attenuation of millimeter wave occurs by rainfall, snowfall, temperature, effect of pressure of air. In 60GHz wave band wireless communication network, temperature change becomes big factor of propagation loss department. Also, temperature change causes disturbance of 60GHz frequency at transceiver. In this study, we used 60GHz transceiver and found propagation loss of wireless path and operating frequency disturbance characteristics. In transceiver that there is no temperature compensated device, operating frequency of TX changed by 60.865GHz at temperature of $-5^{\circ}C$, and appeared by 60.730GHz when is $50^{\circ}C$. Therefore, operating frequency change width by temperature change are about 100MHz, greatly. But, in transceiver that there is temperature compensated device, operating frequency of TX changed by 60.830GHz at temperature of $-5^{\circ}C$, and appeared by 60.710GHz when is $50^{\circ}C$. Therefore, operating frequency change width by temperature change are about 20MHz. According to these result, we constructed between buildings examination wireless site for point to point wireless communication using 60GHz band transceivers who have do temperature compensated device, and investigated data transmission characteristics about ambient temperature change. Therefore, if use transceiver that have temperature compensated device, may overcome the wireless transmission error in 60GHz band wireless communication LAN networks despite of ambient temperature change.

  • The smaller diameter cone penetrometer has been widely used to estimate the characteristics of local area due to high vertical resolution. The half-bridge cirucits have been adopted to measure the mechnical strength of soil through the smaller diameter cone penetrometer due to the limitation of the areas for configuring the full-bridge circuit. The half-bridge circuit, however, is known as being easily affected to the temperature variation. The objective of this study suggests the temperature-compensated method in mini-cones. The diameter and length of the mini-cone is designed to 15mm and 56mm. The load cell of the mini-cone is extended about 54mm on the behind of the mini-cone to reflect the only temperature variation. The full-bridge circuit is installed to measure the temperature-compensated values in the mini-cone and the half-bridge circuit is also organized to compare the temperature compensated values with uncompensated values. The seasonal variation tests are performed to define the effect of temperature variation under summer and winter temperature condition. The densification tests are also carried out to investigate temperature effects during penetration. The measured mechanical resistances with temperature-compensated method show more reliable and reasonable values than those measured by thermal uncompensated system. This study suggests that the temperature-compensated method of the mini-cone may be a useful technique to obtain the more reliable resistances with minimizing the temperature effect.

  • An on-line refractrometer made of easily obtainable materials is built to determine the salinity and temperature of sea water, and its performance is examined by applying the refractometer to known salt solution. Since refractive index and temperature are measured simultaneously, it is possible to compensate the effect of temperature for accurate measurement. The outcome of salinity measurement for the different concentrations of salt solution indicates that the device is suitable for the salinity measurement by yielding stable and reproducible reading.

  • Concrete behaves as ductile material at high temperature. The existing stress-strain relationship is not valid at high temperature condition. Thus, stress-strain curve of concrete at high temperature is re-established by modifying Saenz's suggestion in this study. A constitutive model of concrete subjected to elevated temperature is also suggested. The model consists of three components; free thermal stain, mechanical strain and thermal creep strain. As the temperature increase, the thermal creep becomes more critical to the failure of concrete. The thermal creep strain of concrete is derived from the modified power-law relation for the steady state creep. The proposed equation for thermal creep employs a Dorn's temperature compensated time theorem

  • High value sheet resistance (Rs' 1K-33K\ulcorner/) polysilicon resistors were fabricated using double ion implantation with boron as the major dopant and phosphorus compensation. It is observed that Rs sensitivity to the net doping concentration is decreased by one order of magnitude compared to the conventional (boron implanted)polysilicon resistors. The temperature co-efficient of resistance (TCR) measured between 25\ulcorner and 125\ulcorner shows equivalent values to those of non-compensated resistors for the same Rs. A qualitative electrical conductiion mechanism for compensated polysilicon resistor is proposed, based on the existing grain boundary charge trapping theory.

  • We demonstrate a high color gamut liquid crystal display (LCD) system (>100 %) by using a precompensated tri-chromatic LED-backlight module over a temperature range of (25 to $70^{\circ}C$), whose pre-compensated optical characteristic balances the spectral redshift and intensity decrease due to the temperature rising during operation.

  • In this paper we present a novel temperature compensated Hall effect power IC for accurate operation of wide temperature and high current drive of the motor coil. In order to compensate the temperature dependence of Hall sensitivity with negative temperature coefficient(TC), the differential amplifier has the gain consisted of epi-layer resistor with positive TC. The material of Hall device and epi-resistor is epi-layer with the same mobility. The variation of Hall sensitivity is -38% at 150$^{\circ}C$ and 88% at - 40$^{\circ}C$. But the operating point(B$\sub$op/) and release point(B$\sub$RP/) of the Hall power IC are within ${\pm}$25%. The experimental results show very stable and accurate performance over wide temperature range of -40$^{\circ}C$ to 125$^{\circ}C$.

  • The activation energy for high temperature creep is associated with stresses, temperatures, straians And the creep strain appears to be a function of a temperature, compensated time, namely $te^{-}$.DELTA.H/RT/, and the stress. In fact this functional relation appears to be isomorphic to material structure by x-ray analyses. Applying this functional relation, the dependance of activation energy for A17075 creep was investigated. The activation energy for creep is insensitive to stress, temperature, structure, and strain. And phenomenological model agrees with experimental creep data.

  • Mechanical device using the load cell or strain gage sensor can be influenced by tempearute changes because temperature change can cause a shift in the load cell or straing gage output at zero loading. In this paper, micro cone penetrometers with 1~7mm in diameter, are developed by using an optical fiber sensor (FBG: Fiber Bragg Grating) to compensate the continous temperature change during cone penetration test. Note the temperature compensated method using optical fiber sensor which has hair-size in diameter, and is not affected by environmental conditions because the measured data is the wavelength shifting of the light instead of the intensity of the electric voltage. Temperature effect test shows that the output voltage of strain gage changes and increases with an increase in the temperature. A developed FBG cone penetrometer, however, achieves excellent temperature compensation during penetration, and produces continuous change of underground temperature. In addition, the temperature compensated FBG cone shows the excellent sensitivity and detects the interface of the layered soils with higher resolution. This study demonstrates that the fiber optic sensor renders the possibility of the ultra small size cone and the new fiber optic cone may produce more reliable temperature compensated tip resistance.
