A steady-state analytical model was presented for a loop heat pipe (LHP) with an evaporator that has a flat geometry. On the basis of a series of reviews of the relevant literature, a sequence of calculations was proposed to predict the temperatures and pressures at each important part of the LHP: the evaporator, liquid reservoir (compensation chamber), liquid line, vapor line, and condenser. The analysis of the evaporator, which is the only part in the LHP that has a capillary structure, was emphasized. Thin-film theory is applied to account for the pressure and temperature in the region adjacent to the liquid-vapor interface in the evaporator. The present study introduced a unique method to estimate the liquid temperature at the interface. Relative freedom was assumed in the configuration of a condenser with a simplified liquid-vapor interface. Our steady-state model was validated by experimental results available in the literature. The relative error was within 3% on the absolute temperature scale, and reasonable agreement was obtained.

Smart Farm, which combines agriculture and ICT convergence technology, is at a lower stage than other industries in Korea, but it is also one of the most active research and development fields. Smart Farm aims to improve the efficiency of each step by collecting, processing and analyzing various information of agriculture sector through convergence between agriculture and ICT technology. In this study, we studied the image processing method that can distinguish strawberry which can be harvested at harvest time by color for smart farm composition of strawberry which is a horticultural crop. Strawberry harvesting requires a lot of labor in the process of growing strawberries. In this study, we aim to collect information necessary for labor saving in strawberry harvester. As a precedent study, we plan to implement a form in which the color temperature changes according to the light direction and brightness value through OpenCV color detection using Python. In the future, it is planned to study strawberry color value suitable for harvest by applying compensation value to color temperature change.
The elution behaviors in reversed-phase liquid chromatography were investigated thermodynamically for 2-hydroxy-arylazopyrazolone chelates with Ni(II), Cu(II), Co(III), Cr(III) on Novapak $C_{18}$ column. There was a good linear dependence of the capacity factor(k') on the variations of column temperature in van't Hoff plot. From this result, it was confirmed that the retention mechanism of these chelates in the reversed phase liquid chromatography system was invariant under the condition of various temperatures. For the most cases of the chelates studied, the dependence of capacity factor(1n k') on enthalpy$(-{\Delta}H)^{\circ}$, calculated by van't Hoff plot showed a good linearity(r=0.980~0.999) except [Pm(2-OH_(5-Cl)PaPz](r=0.787) and also the compensation temperatures(${\beta}$) showed constant values. The range of compensation temperature values calculated from the slope of $-{\Delta}H^{\circ}$ vs 1n k' plots was 374.3~806.9K. It was suggested that the retention of metal-2-hydroxy-arylazopyrazolone chelates in the reversed phase liquid chromatography system was largely affected by the hydrophobic effect.

A closed flux chamber system was used for measuring major greenhouse gas (GHG) emission from tideland and/or wetland soils in estuarine area at Saemankum, Kunsan in southwestern Korea during from months of February to June 2006. Hourly averaged GHG soil emissions were measured two to three times a day during the ebb tide hours only. Site soils were analyzed for soil parameters (temperature, pH, total organic contents, N and C contents in soil) in the laboratory. Soil GHG fluxes were calculated based on the GHG concentration rate of change measured inside a closed chamber The analysis of GHG was conducted by using a Gas Chromatography (equipped with ECD/FID) at laboratory. Changes of daily, monthly GHGs' fluxes were examined. The relationships between the GHG emissions and soil chemical contents were also scrutinized with respect to gas production and consumption mechanism in the soil. Soil pH was pH $7.47{\pm}0.49$ in average over the experimental period. Organic matter contents in sample soil was $6.64{\pm}4.98\;g/kg$, and it shows relatively lower contents than those in agricultural soils in Kunsan area. Resulting from the soil chemistry data, soil nitrogen contents seem to affect GHG emission from the tidal land surface. The tidal soil was found to be either source or sink for the major GHG during the experimental periods. The annual average of $CH_{4}\;and\;CO_{2}$ fluxes were $0.13{\pm}0.86\;mg\;m^{-2}h^{-1}\;and\;5.83{\pm}138.73\;mg\;m^{-2}h^{-1}$, respectively, which will be as a source of these gases. However, $N_{2}O$ emission showed in negative flux, and the value was $-0.02{\pm}0.66\;mg\;m^{-2}h^{-1}$, and it implies tidal land surface act as a sink of $N_{2}O$. Over the experimental period, the absolute values of gas fluxes increased with soil temperature in general. Averages of the ambient gas concentration were $86.8{\pm}6.\;ppm$ in $CO_{2},\;1.63{\pm}0.34\;ppm\;in\;CH_{4},\;and\;0.59{\pm}0.15\;ppm\;in\;N_{2}O$, respectively. Generally, under the presence of gas emission from agricultural soils, decrease of gas emission will be observed as increase in ambient gas concentration. We, however, could not found significant correlation between the ambient concentrations and their emissions over the experimental period. There was no GHG compensation points existed in tide flat soil.
The slime, deposited in the bored pile due to falling soil particle, reduces the bearing capacity of bored pile and thus the stability of construction also decreases. The weight pendulum and iron have been used for estimating the slime thickness based on the subjective judgment and thus the previous method has a limitation of reliability. The objective of this paper is to suggest the method for estimating the slime thickness by using characteristics of electrical resistivity as scientific method. The temperature-compensation resistivity probe (TRP), which has a conical shape and the diameter of 35.7mm, is applied to the measurement of the electrical resistivity in the borehole during penetration. The field tests are carried out for estimating the slime thickness in the application site of bored pile. The slime thickness is calculated through the difference between excavation depth of borehole and measured data. Furthermore, the laboratory tests are also conducted for investigating effects of casing, time elapsing and relative density by using the specimen of slime. The laboratory test supporting the suggested method is reasonable for determining the slime depth. The paper suggests that the electrical resistivity method may be a useful method for detecting slime thickness and the method is expected to be applicable to various sites of bored piles.

The miscibility between poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) was investigated using thermal analyses for the purpose of developing birefringence-free material at oriented state. The effect of methyl acrylate (MA) units as comonomer of PMMA on the miscibility was also studied. All the blends prepared in this study show composition-dependent single $T_g$'s between those of blend components and high transparency over the visible region, indicating the miscibility at molecular level and no discernible effect of MA units on it. No phase separation was observed at elevated temperature of $280^{\circ}C$, higher than the degradation of PLLA and PMMA. The interaction energy density in PLLA/PMMA blends with 17 mol% of MA was measured to be $-0.74J/cm^3$ from the equilibrium melting temperature depression based on the Hoffman-Weeks method. The blends show zero-${\Delta}$n behavior at a specific mixing ratio and the drawing ratio of 3 due to compensation of intrinsic orientation birefringence. Birefringence dispersion of PLLA/PMMA5 blends was also measured to examine the possibility for quarter-wave plates or polarizer protective films.

BNKT Ceramics, one of the representative Pb free based piezoelectric ceramics, constitutes a perovskite(ABO3) structure. At this time, the perovskite structure (ABO3) is in the form where the corners of the octahedrons are connected, and in the unit cell, two ions, A and B, are cations, A ion is located at the body center, B ion is located at each corner, and an anion O is located at the center of each side. Since Bi, Na, and K sources constituting the A site are highly volatile at a sintering temperature of 1100℃ or higher, it is difficult to maintain uniformity of the composition. In order to solve this problem, there should be suppression of volatilization of the A site material or additional compensation of the volatilized. In this study, the basic composition of BNKT Ceramics was set to Bi0.5(Na0.78K0.22)0.5TiO3 (= BNKT), and volatile site (Bi, Na, and K sources) were coated in the form of a shell to compensate additionally for the A site ions. In addition, the physical and electrical properties of BNKT and its coated with shell additives(= @BNK) were compared and analyzed, respectively. As a result of analyzing the crystal structure through XRD, both BNKT(Core) and @BNK(Shell) had perovskite phases, and the crystallinity was almost similar. Although the Curie temperature of the two sintered bodies was almost the same (TC = 290 ~ 300 ℃), it was confirmed that the d33 (piezoelectric coefficient) and Pr (residual polarization) values were different. The experimental results indicated that the additional compensation for a shell additive causes the coarsening, resulting in a decrease in sintering density and Pr(remanent polarization). However, coating shell additives to compensate for A site ion is an effective way to suppress volatilization. Based on these experimental results, it would be the biggest advantage to develop an eco-friendly material (Lead-free) that replaced lead (Pb), which is harmful to the human body. This lead-free piezoelectric material can be applied to a biomedical device or products(ex. earphones (hearing aids), heart rate monitors, ultrasonic vibrators, etc.) and skin beauty improvement products (mask packs for whitening and wrinkle improvement).
In this paper, two schemes of generating reference voltages using enhancement-mode MOS transistors and resistors are proposed. The first one is a voltage-mode scheme where the temperature compensation is made by summing a voltage component proportional to a threshold voltage and a voltage component proportional to a thermal voltage. In the second one, that is a current-mode scheme, the temperature compensation is made by summing a current component proportional to a threshold voltage and a current component proportional to a thermal voltage. The designed circuits have been simulated using a $0.65{\mu}m$ n-well CMOS process parameters. The voltage-mode circuit has a temperature coefficient less than $48.0ppm/^{\circ}C$ and a power-supply(VDD) coefficient less than 0.21%/V for a temperature range of $-30^{\circ}C{\sim}130^{\circ}C$ and a VDD range of $3V{\sim}12V$. The current-mode circuit has a temperature coefficient less than $38.2ppm/^{\circ}C$ and a VDD coefficient less than 0.8%/V for $-30^{\circ}C{\sim}130^{\circ}C\;and\; 4V{\sim}12V$. The power consumption of the voltage-mode and current-mode circuits are $27{\mu}W\;and\;65{\mu}W$ respectively for 5V and $30^{\circ}C$. Measurement results show that the voltage-mode reference circuit has a VDD coefficient less than 0.63%/V for $30^{\circ}C{\sim}100^{\circ}C$ and has a temperature coefficient less than $490ppm/^{\circ}C\;for\;3V{\sim}6V$. The proposed reference circuits are simple and thus easy to design. The proposed current-mode reference circuit can be designed to generate a wide range of reference voltages.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of seasonal changes on some of the morphological and physiological characteristics, including the photosynthetic abilities and dark respiration, of young ginseng plants due to planting location under shading. The results obtained are as follows: 1. Seedlings and 2-year old plants planted in the back rows appeared to have broader leaf area, and their leaf weight greatly increased in September. Chlorophyll content was significantly reduced in September rather than in June and the plants in the back rows had more chlorophyll content than those in the front rows. 2. There was no difference in the light compensation point between the front and back rows in June, while in September the light compensation point of 2-year old ginseng leaves was much lower for plants in the back rows compared with those in the front rows. A difference in the light saturation point was not noticeable between plants in the front and back rows in June and September. But the light saturation point of 2-year old ginseng leaves at $15^{\circ}C$ was high in June, while it was high at $20^{\circ}C$ high in September. 3. Maximum photosynthetic ability was attained at $15^{\circ}C$ in June and at $20^{\circ}C$ in September. During June no significant difference in photosynthetic ability was found between plants in the front and back rows, but in September the amount of photosynthesis was significantly increased at the leaves of seedlings as well as 2-year old plants planted in the back rows. 4. The optimum temperature for maximum photosynthesis in 2-year old plants ranged from $14.0^{\circ}C$ to $14.5^{\circ}C$ in June and from $19.5^{\circ}C$ to $20.5^{\circ}C$ in September. However, the optimum temperature for maximum photosynthesis in the seedlings was from $21.2^{\circ}C$ to $21.6^{\circ}C$ in September, but a significant difference in the optimum temperature for the maximum photosynthesis in seedlings and 2-year old plants was not noticeable between the front and back rows. 5. The respiration rate was rather high in seedlings compared with 2-year old plants. During September the respiration rate in seedlings was much lower in the back rows than in the front rows. The rate of increase in the respiration of 2-year old plants was higher at September than June. The increase in respiration rate due to temperature was more significant in seedlings than 2-year old plants. 6. In September, the level of $Q_{10}$ in 2-year old plants was much lower than that found in seedlings. During June, 2-year old plants showed lower $Q_{10}$ levels at a temperature difference between $15^{\circ}C$ and $25^{\circ}C$; but in September this occurred at a temperature difference between $20^{\circ}C$ and $30^{\circ}C$.
