  • Stock identification of Todarodes pacificus collected in the East Sea, Yellow Sea and East China Sea during the period from September to December in 2011 was analyzed by morphometric characters and mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) cytochrome oxidase subunit I (COI) gene nucleotide variations. Frequency distributions of mantle length was analyzed by morphological method with measuring size of T. pacificus. Then each stock was estimated to confirm their maturation for mean mantle length comparing with mean mature mantle length 20-22 cm. According to morphologic stock identification, it is estimated that the northern part of East Sea is categorized as summer stock and the rest parts, including mid /southern part of the East Sea, northern part of the East China Sea and northern part of the West Sea were autumn stock. For genetic analysis, a total 49 haplotypes were defined by 33 variable nucleotide sites. From the extensive haplotype diversity, limited nucleotide diversity and star-like shape of haplotype network, T. pacificus appears to have undergone rapid population expansion from an ancestral population with a small effective population size. Although pair-wise Fst estimates which represent genetic difference among groups were low, there are relatively remarkable difference of Fst between middle and southern part of the East Sea. Although middle part of the East Sea and southern part of the East Sea were situated at the East Sea, genetically separated groups were appeared.

  • This paper applies a income mobility method to technology inequality using conditional human capital stock and shows their empirical results during the 1980 to 2000. There are several interesting empirical results coming out this analysis. Among the results, the paper turns out that world technology inequality mobility measurement is significantly higher for rapid formation of human capital stock countries than for slow formation of human capital stock countries. This paper, therefore, suggests that technology policy need to focus on improving the public education structure to recover the rate of return to human capital investment and to speed up technology development and deployment in Korea.

  • A battery is an important part of the component, as a power source of the control of rolling stock at starting movement or emergency control. Now widely used batteries are Ni-Cd batteries and lead accumulators, and these are increasingly getting smaller and lighter. In addition, the electric capacity required is increasing, due to the development of electronic control technology of rolling stock. Therefore, various kinds of high-efficiency battery are considered for the new routes' rolling stock, but rolling stock's batteries should be fully tested to prove safety and also have no difficulty in terms of management, so because of the requirement, it is difficult to be in practical application. In this paper, we will survey cases of applying battery to rolling stock and then we will review whether there is any problem about safety and performance, management to discuss future trend of batteries.

  • Backgrounds: The purpose of this study is to discuss the total joint reconstruction surgery for a patient with recurrent ankylosis in bilateral temporomandibular joints (TMJs) using three-dimensional (3D) virtual surgical planning, computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM)-fabricated surgical guides, and stock TMJ prostheses. Case presentation: A 66-year-old female patient, who had a history of multiple TMJ surgeries, complained of severe difficulty in eating and trismus. The 3D virtual surgery was performed with a virtual surgery software (FACEGIDE, MegaGen implant, Daegu, South Korea). After confirmation of the location of the upper margin for resection of the root of the zygoma and the lower margin for resection of the ankylosed condyle, and the position of the fossa and condyle components of stock TMJ prosthesis (Biomet, Jacksonville, FL, USA), the surgical guides were fabricated with CAD/CAM technology. Under general anesthesia, osteotomy and placement of the stock TMJ prosthesis (Biomet) were carried out according to the surgical planning. At 2 months after the operation, the patient was able to open her mouth up to 30 mm without complication. Conclusion: For a patient who has recurrent ankylosis in bilateral TMJs, total joint reconstruction surgery using 3D virtual surgical planning, CAD/CAM-fabricated surgical guides, and stock TMJ prostheses may be an effective surgical treatment option.

  • This study aims to analyze the valuation of technology firms in the stock market to answer how before-market entities should be valuated. This study analyzes 230 market reports of 2012 for technology firms in the KOSDAQ under several hypotheses. The results are as follows: 90% used the 3 multiples methods consisting of PER multiples with 80%, PBR multiples 8.7% and EBITDA multiples 1.7%. The average of PER multiples was 15 with the range of 6.9 to 83. That of PBR multiples is 2.27. Forecasting for cash flow is not applied over 4 years, but mainly 2-3 years. The accuracy of forecasting was 18.8%, 34.4% and 8% according to the different definitions. No differences were found in the accuracy of forecasting between valuation methods, between the industries having more intangible assets and the industries having less, and between startups and general companies and between ages and listed ages.

  • A Requirement statement validation process is suggested which was established and applied to the rolling stock development project of the Korean Railway Research Institute. The validation process includes team organization, selection of validation criteria, development of validation template, education of team members, validation, construction of database and management of requirement change. Many defects in the specification of requirement were found to be associated with the problem of non-uniqueness, describing solution instead of problem, ambiguity and redundancy. This paper described detailed activities at each step of the validation process and lessons learned from these activities.

  • To meet the needs of customer, manufacturing companies are diversifying product making methods. In order to adapt to changes, companies are trying to find a new manufacturing system. In this research, MTS (Make to Stock) and MTO (Make to Order) production methods are simulated using ARENA and the results are compared and analyzed to find a better system. As a result, by combining the advantages of MTS and MTO system, a hybrid production system is developed. The hybrid model is analyzed to verify that it is better than the existing two models, which is MTS and MTO model. The statistic results of output analyzer show that a new system helped to increase production rate and decrease work in process inventory. The hybrid model proved that it contains the merits of MTO production method and MTS production method.

  • Although the surface of aluminum alloy has good corrosion resistance property, the surface of the aluminum rolling stock should be painted for good appearance and protection of the body. For better painting of the aluminum carbody, the surface must also be well pretreated. In this paper, painting process of the aluminum rolling stock is described and the test results of the painted surface is presented. As accumulated data concerning to the painting technology for the aluminum rolling stocks are absent in our country, the presented test results will be helpful for mass production of aluminum rolling stocks in the near future.
