Cymopterus melanotilingia (Apiaceae) was reviewed by external morphology and cross-section of leaf-margin and mericarp, and the taxonomic position of species and genus was reexamined. Based on these results, the description and adistribution map of C. melanotiligia were obtained. The leaf-margin forms a collenchymatous ridge by projecting toward the lower part. One mericarp has 2-lateral ribs and 2-intermediate ribs and the other mericarp has 2-lateral ribs and 1-dorsal rib, suggesting each of them is asymmetric. These characters show that this species does not belong to the genus Ostericum s.s., but should be treated as the genus Cymopterus.

Bottlenose dolphins (Tursiops sp.) commonly inhabit Korean waters, including the coastal waters of Jeju Island. However, their taxonomic position was unclear because of the validity of this genus. The genus Tursiops has recently been determined to comprise two species: the common bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus) and the Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops aduncus). To confirm the taxonomic position of bottlenose dolphins frequenting the coastal waters of Jeju Island, the external morphology and osteology of specimens from Jeju Island were examined. Photographs of free-swimming individuals were also used for determining external morphological characters. The cranial and meristic measurements fell within the ranges of T. aduncus. Osteological ratios were also consistent with those of T. aduncus. The presence of a prominent ventral spot was observed among some individuals. As a result, the dolphins mainly distributed in the coastal waters of Jeju Island were identified as Indo-Pacific bottlenose dolphins (T. aduncus) in terms of their cranial characters and ventral spotting. We propose a new Korean name, 'Nambang-keun-dol-go-rae'.
For the taxonomic evaluaition, 15 strains of the genus Pectobacterium and Erwinia were analyzed for 16S-23S rDNA intergenic spacer regions (ISRs). These species contained two types of ISRs, large and small ISRs. Large ISRs were on the range of 474-569 bp size, and coding transfer $\textrm{RNA}^{11e}$($\textrm{tRNA}^{11e}$) and $\textrm{tRNA}^{Ala}$. Small ISRs were 354-459 bp in length and coding $\textrm{tRNA}^{Glu}$. The sequence variations of two ISRs among species and strains were very high as compared with 16S rRNA gene sequences. By phylogenetic trees on the basis of two ISRs, Pectobacterium ere differentiated into P. carotovorum-P. cactiaidum group and P. chrysanthemi group. However, the taxonomic position of E. cypripedii and E. rhapontici, which were not clear on taxonomic delineation between Pectobacterium and Erwinia, were not clearly resolved on the basis of ISRs.
To clarify the species of genus Deutzia (Saxifragaceae, s. l.) in Korea, the taxonomic description was undertaken and interspecific relationships was discussed based on the external morphology with the light and scanning electron microscopes and the distributional pattern with specimens deposited in the herbaria. The presence or absence, number of rays, position and frequency of the stellate trichome, inflorescence and the morphology and venation pattern of petal were approved as the good characters to classify the Korean Deutzias. Although 17 kinds of Deutzia were reported in Korea hitherto, 9 kinds were excluded owing to the taxonomic treatment based on the comparative external morphology and the distributional uncertainty. Thus genus Deutzia in Korea could be rearranged as 2 sections, 3 subsection, 7 species and 1 variety. Among them, 4 species were considered as the endemic species in Korea.
In 2021, during a survey of cnidarian fauna around Geomundo located in the Dadohaehaesang National Park in the South Sea, complete pinnated hydroid colonies attaching on vertical rocky surface at depth of 45 m were collected by SCUBA diving. Through taxonomic examination, unrecorded species, Sertularella acutidentata Billard, 1919, is newly added to the hydrozoan fauna of Korea. Recently, taxonomic position of the genus Sertularella has been relocated into the new family Sertularellidae Maronna et al., 2016 and six species from Korean waters have been synonymized or transferred to new genera. Thus, a total of 17 species belonging to genus Sertularella, including the species reported in this study, have been reported in Korean waters so far.
Five species of the genus Leontopodium are recognized in Korea, but their taxonomic positions have been controversial. To clarify the taxonomic entity of these Korean species, we examined their morphological characters based on herbarium specimens and field observations. Valuable distinguishing characters for identification included the plant height, the basal shape of cauline leaves, the type and position of inflorescence, the types of hairs, the presence of leaves at the anthesis, and hairs on the phyllaries. Based on our observations, we were able to determine the taxonomic relationships between L. japonicum and its relatives, L. coreanum and L. hallaisanense. We also included the morphological characters of L. seorakensis in continuous variations of L. leiolepis, which we treated as synonyms. Consequently, we classified these Korean Leontopodium species into four taxa - L. coreanum var. coreanum, L. coreanum var. hallaisanense, L. leiolepis, and L. leontopodioides - with appropriate descriptions and illustrations.

The purpose of this study is to review the taxonomic position of Taxus cuspidata var. latifolia endemic to Ulleung Island with related taxa T. cuspidata var. cuspidata, T. caespitosa, and T. cuspidata var. nana based on external morphological characters and DNA barcoding study. T. cuspidata var. latifolia was similar to T. cuspidata var. cuspidata in the arbor, straight trunk, and symmetric arrangement of leaf. But the unique differences between T. cuspidata var. latifolia and T. cuspidata var. cuspidata were leaf size and the exposure of seed from aril. Additionally, sequences of four chloroplast DNA regions including matK, rbcL, trnL intron and trnL-trnF spacer regions were analyzed. Korean Taxus species and their related taxon T. cuspidata var. nana were strongly supported as a monophyletic group in neighbor-joining analysis. Taxus cuspidata var. latifolia showed 100% sequence identity to related taxa. Korean endemic T. caespitosa is also distinguishable from related taxa by prostrate stems and spiral arrangement of leaf. The examinations of external morphology and DNA barcoding study suggest that the taxonomic position of T. cuspidata var. latifolia should be maintained as a variety of T. cuspidata.
Trichomes found in the genus Cimicifuga were examined with scanning electron microscopy. Four basic types of trichomes were found in the genus; (1) filiform unicellular trichomes, (2) saccate unicellular trichomes, (3) pyriform unicellular trichomes, and (4) uniseriate multicellular trichomes. All the taxa examined develop at least two different types of trichomes, and many taxa are distinguished by differences in type, microornamentation, density, and position of trichomes. In addition, trichome features appear to be very useful in recognizing species relationships in the genus.
The partial 16S gene sequences of six filamentous cyanobacterial strains, Oscillatoria lmosa KCTC AG10168, Oscillatoria princeps KCTC AG10153, Oscillatoria sp. KCTC AG 10184, Phormidium tenue KCTC AG10158, Phormidium parchydematicum KCTC AG10164, and Lyngbya hieronymusii KCTC AG10199, which were isolated in the late summer at Daecheong Reservoirs, were determined and assigned their phylogenetic and taxonomic position among taxa of order Ocillatoriales whose partial 16S rRNA gene sequences aligned in this suty, were very heterogeneously clustered with other taxa. The two strains, Oscillatoria limosa KCTC AG10168 and O. princeps KCTC AG10153, formed a cluster with O. sancta PCC7515, which supported 64% of the bootstrap trees with high similarity (19-96.15%). Strain Oscillatoria sp. KCTC AG10184, that was known to produce a nasty substance, was closely related to the toxic Oscillatoria group. The study on morphological variation in various environments and toxin production will confirm the taxonomic status of these species. Phormidium tenus KCTC AG10158 and Phormidium parchydematicum KCTC AG10164 made a cluster with other oscillatorian species of Phormidium, Oscillatoria, and Leptolynbya, which supproted 100% of the bootstrap trees with a very high sequence smilarity (96.8-99.8%) in thsi study. The sequence analysis in this study also supported that taxa of oscillatoriales are not monophyletic. Some of the fractures, such as the presence or absence of sheath and cell shape, which were used to define them, would be inadequate and should be reconfirmed. We suggest that sequences of partial 16S rRNA gene fragments aligned in this study should be more useful than morphological features in the identification and reconfirmation of the taxonomic status of these oscillactorian cyanobacteria.
The taxonomic review of the family Platycephalidae from Korea was made based on the morphological characteristics of specimens collected in the Korean coasts from December 1987 to April 1998. The family Platycephalidae from Korea was classified into 10 species belonging to 7 genera: Onigocia macrolepis, O. spinosa, Rogadius asper, Suggrundus meerdervoorti, lnegocia japonica, I. guttata, Cociella crocodila, Ratabulus megacephalus, Platycephalus indicus and Platycephalus sp. Of them, Onigocia macrolepis was recorded for the first time in Korea and Platycephalus sp. was demanded to recheck its taxonomic position comparing with other Asian specimens in future. A new key to the genera and species of the family Platycephalidae from Korea was reported, with description of their morphological characteristics and distribution.
