In this paper, we propose a novel tracking method using target separation and detection that are based on discriminative correlation filter (DCF), which is studied a lot recently. 'Retainability' is one of the most important factor of tracking. There are some factors making retainability of tracking worse. Especially, fast movement and occlusion of a target frequently occur in image data, and when it happens, it would make target lost. As a result, the tracking cannot be retained. For maintaining a robust tracking, in this paper, separation of a target is used so that normal tracking is maintained even though some part of a target is occluded. The detection algorithm is executed and find new location of the target when the target gets out of tracking range due to occlusion of whole part of a target or fast movement speed of a target. A variety of experiments with various image data sets are conducted. The algorithm proposed in this paper showed better performance than other conventional algorithms when fast movement and occlusion of a target occur.

High gradient magnetic separation (HGMS) is the most commonly used magnetic cell separation technique in biomedical science. However, parameters determining target cell capture efficiencies in HGMS are still not well understood. This limitation leads to loss of information and resources. The present study develops a bead-capture theory to predict capture efficiencies in HGMS. The theory is tested with CD3- and CD14-positive cells in combination with paramagnetic beads of different sizes and a generic immunomagnetic separation system. Data depict a linear relationship between normalized capture efficiency and the bead concentration. In addition, it is shown that key biological functions of target cells are not affected for all bead sizes and concentrations used. In summary, linear bead-capture theory predicts capture efficiency ($E_t$) in a highly significant manner.
Thallium-201 (201Tl) is a medical radioisotope which emits gamma rays when it decays and used in myocardial perfusion scans in single-photon emission tomography due to its similar properties to potassium. Currently, the Korea Institute of Radiological & Medical Sciences is the only institution producing 201Tl in Korea, and optimization of 201Tl production research is necessary to meet supply compared to domestic demand. To this end, technical analysis of plating target production and chemical separation methods essential for 201Tl production research is conducted. It deals with the process of generating and separating 201Tl radioisotope and target production, It can be generated through a nuclear reaction such as natHg(p,xn)201Tl, 201Hg(p,n)201Tl, natPb(p,xn)201Bi → 201Pb → 201Tl, 205Tl(p,5n)201Pb → 201Tl, and considering impure nuclide generated simultaneously with the use of proton beam energy of 35 MeV or less, it is intended to be produced using the 203Tl(p,3n)201Pb→201Tl nuclear reaction. In particular, the chemical separation of Tl is a very important element, and the chemical separation methods that can separate it is broadly divided into four types, including solid phase extraction, liquid-liquid, electrochemical, and ion exchange membrane separation. Some chemical separations require additional separation steps, such as methods using selective adsorption. Therefore, this technical report describes four chemical separation methods and seeks to separate high-purity 201Tl using a method without additional separation steps
This paper proposes a target speech extraction which restores speech signal of a target speaker form noisy convolutive mixture of speech and an interference source. We assume that the target speaker is known and his/her utterances are available in the training time. Incorporating the additional information extracted from the training utterances into the separation, we combine convolutive blind source separation(CBSS) and non-negative decomposition techniques, e.g., probabilistic latent variable model. The nonnegative decomposition is used to learn a set of bases from the spectrogram of the training utterances, where the bases represent the spectral information corresponding to the target speaker. Based on the learned spectral bases, our method provides two postprocessing steps for CBSS. Channel selection step finds a desirable output channel from CBSS, which dominantly contains the target speech. Reconstruct step recovers the original spectrogram of the target speech from the selected output channel so that the remained interference source and background noise are suppressed. Experimental results show that our method substantially improves the separation results of CBSS and, as a result, successfully recovers the target speech.
In this paper, a game optimal receding horizon guidance law (GRHG) is proposed, which does not use information of the time-to-go and target maneuvers. It is shown that by adjusting design parameters appropriately, the proposed GRHG is identical to the existing receding horizon guidance law (RHG), which can intercept the target by keeping the relative vertical separation less than the given value, within which the warhead of the missile is detonated, after the appropriately selected time in the presence of arbitrary target maneuvers and initial relative vertical separation rates between the target and missile. Through a simulation study, the performance of the GRHG is illustrated and compared with that of the existing optimal guidance law (OGL).

The purpose of this study is to develop the technique of energy recovery and energy saving by using the optimization of heat exchanger network synthesis. This article proposes a new method of determining the optimal target of a heat exchanger network synthesis problem of which data feature multiple pinch points. The system separation method we suggest here is to subdivide the original system into independent subsystems with one pinch point. The optimal cost target was evaluated and the original pinch rules at each subsystem were employed. The software developed in this study was applied to the Alko prosess, which is an alcohol production process, for the synthesis of heat exchanger network. It was possible to save about 15% of the total annual cost.
The separation of spectrally overlapped broadband echo signals from free-swimming Japanese needlefish Hypohamphus sajori using the fractional Fourier transform (FrFT) was investigated. The broadband echo signals were measured over frequency ranges of 40-80 and 110-220 kHz. The overlapped echo signals were separated after eliminating noise signals in the smoothed pseudo-Wigner-Ville distribution domain. The echo signal from a 40 mm WC sphere suspended just below a chirp transducer was used to calibrate the broadband of the chirp echo sounder and estimate the frequency dependence of target strength for the separated echo signals. The experimental results show that the proposed FrFT method can analyze the time-frequency image of broadband echo signals from free-swimming individual fish effectively and can be used as a quantitative tool for extracting the acoustic features used for fish species identification.

Here we report an integrated microdevice consisting of an efficient passive mixer, a magnetic separation chamber, and a capillary electrophoretic microchannel in which DNA barcode assay, target pathogen separation, and barcode DNA capillary electrophoretic analysis were performed sequentially within 30 min for multiplex pathogen detection at the single-cell level. The intestine-shaped serpentine 3D micromixer provides a high mixing rate to generate magnetic particle-pathogenic bacteria-DNA barcode labelled AuNP complexes quantitatively. After magnetic separation and purification of those complexes, the barcode DNA strands were released and analyzed by the microfluidic capillary electrophoresis within 5 min. The size of the barcode DNA strand was controlled depending on the target bacteria (Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli O157:H7, and Salmonella typhimurium), and the different elution time of the barcode DNA peak in the electropherogram allows us to recognize the target pathogen with ease in the monoplex as well as in the multiplex analysis. In addition, the quantity of the DNA barcode strand (~104) per AuNP is enough to be observed in the laser-induced confocal fluorescence detector, thereby making single-cell analysis possible. This novel integrated microdevice enables us to perform rapid, sensitive, and multiplex pathogen detection with sample-in-answer-out capability to be applied for biosafety testing, environmental screening, and clinical trials.

No-carrier-added holmium-166 (n.c.a 166Ho) separation is performed based on the results of separation conditions using stable isotopes dysprosium (Dy) and holmium (Ho) to minimize radioactive waste from separation optimization procedures. Successful separation of two adjacent lanthanides was achieved by cation-exchange chromatography using a sulfonated resin in the H+ form (BP-800) and α-hydroxyisobutyric acid (α-HIBA) as eluent. For the identification process after separation of stable isotopes, the use of chromogenic reagents alternatively enables on-line detection because the lanthanides are hardly absorb light in the UV-vis region or exhibit radioactivity. Four different chromogenic reagents were pre-tested to evaluate suitable coloring reagents, of which 4-(2-Pyridylazo)resorcinol is the most recommendable considering the sensitivity and specificity for lanthanides. Lanthanide radioisotopes (RI) were monitored for separation with an RI detector using a lab-made separation LC system. Under the proper separation conditions, the n.c.a 166Ho was effectively obtained from a large amount of 100 mg dysprosium target within 2 hrs.

61Cu is a promising PET radiometal having favorable nuclear decay characteristics with appropriate half-life of 3.3 h. Owing its promising capabilities in radiopharmaceutical chemistry and its chemical similarities with its isotopes 64Cu and 67Cu, in this work we have tried to optimize the production and separation conditions of 61Cu. 61Cu was produced via (p, x) reaction with natural nickel which was electroplated on the high purity silver coated copper backing target holder. The optimization of target electrodeposition, beam energy and current modulation, target dissolution and separation were optimized in this study. Preliminary studies show that 61Cu was successfully produced and separated which can be further extended for the production of 64Cu and 67Cu.
