In this paper we describe a motion tracking algorithm for 3D human animation using stereo vision system. This allows us to extract the motion data of the end effectors of human body by following the movement through segmentation process in HIS or RGB color model, and then blob analysis is used to detect robust shape. When two hands or two foots are crossed at any position and become disjointed, an adaptive algorithm is presented to recognize whether it is left or right one. And the real motion is the 3-D coordinate motion. A mono image data is a data of 2D coordinate. This data doesn't acquire distance from a camera. By stereo vision like human vision, we can acquire a data of 3D motion such as left, right motion from bottom and distance of objects from camera. This requests a depth value including x axis and y axis coordinate in mono image for transforming 3D coordinate. This depth value(z axis) is calculated by disparity of stereo vision by using only end-effectors of images. The position of the inner joints is calculated and 3D character can be visualized using inverse kinematics.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the reliability of 3D-inertia measurement unit (IMU) based shoes in gait analysis. This was done with respect to the results of the optical motion capturing system and to collect reference gait data of healthy subjects with this device. Methods : The Smart Balance$^{(R)}$ system of 3D-IMU based shoes and Osprey$^{(R)}$ motion capturing cameras were used to collect motion data simultaneously. Forty four healthy subjects consisting of individuals in 20s (N=20), 40s (N=13), and 60s (N=11) participated in this study voluntarily. They performed natural walking on a treadmill for one minute at 4 different target speeds (3, 4, 5, 6 km/h), respectively. Results : Cadence (ICC=.998), step length (ICC=.970), stance phase (ICC=.845), and double-support phase (ICC=.684) from 3D-IMU based shoes were in agreement with results of optical motion system. Gait data of healthy subjects according to different treadmill speeds and ages were matched to previous literature showing increased cadence and reduced step length for elderly subjects. Conclusion : Conclusively, 3D-IMU based shoes in gait analysis were a satisfactory alternative option in measuring linear gait parameters.
This paper presents novel segmentation and transition techniques for dancing motion synthesis. The segmentation method for dancing motions is based on Laban Movement Analysis (LMA). We assume a dance sequence as a set of small dancing motions. To segment a dancing motion is a subjective, psychological, and complex problem, so we extract the shape factor of LMA from a dance motion and observe shape's changes to find the boundaries of dance segments. We also introduce a transition method that meets constraints on the feet. This method that is based on a linear interpolation modifies the intermediate posture motion after analyzing footprint positions. The posture could be a key-frame between source motion and target motion on the transition. With the proposed techniques, it would be easy for multimedia applications to generate plausible dance motions.
This paper deals with the problem of moving object detection and location in computer vision. We describe a new object-dependent motion analysis method for tracking target in an image sequence taken from a moving platform. We tackle these tasks with three steps. First, we make an active contour model of a target in order to build some of low-energy points, which are called kernels. Then we detect interest points in two windows called tracking windows around a kernel respectively. At the third step, we decide the correspondence of those detected interest points between tracking windows by the probabilistic relaxation method In this algorithm, the detecting process is iterative and begins with the detection of all potential correspondence pair in consecutive image. Each pair of corresponding points is then iteratively recomputed to get a globally optimum set of pairwise correspondences.

A smart submunition drops through the expected trajectory to have a appropriate target searching footprint for the armored ground vehicles. Parachutes can be used as a tool to decelerate and spin the submunition. Usually submunition's descent velocity, spin rate, submunition inclination angle against vertical and dynamic stability affect to its target searching footprint. Therefore it is important to design optimal parachute and load configuration for the overall system performance. In this paper we described the dynamic motion of submunition by the mathematical model of parachute and load. Through the computer simulation we can analyze the submunition footprint affected by parachute and load design.

Generally, to evaluate gated radiation therapy, moving phantoms are used to simulate organ motion. Since the target moves in every direction, we need to take into account motion in each direction. This study proposes methods to evaluate gated radiation therapy using gamma index analysis and to visualize adequate gating window sizes according to motion ranges. The moving phantom was fabricated to simulate motion in the craniocaudal direction. This phantom consisted of a moving platform, the I'm MatriXX, and solid water phantoms. A 6 MV photon filed with a field size of $4{\times}4cm^2$ was delivered to the phantom using the gating system, while the phantom moved in the 1-, 2-, 3-, 4-, and 5-cm motion ranges. The gating windows were set at 40~60%, 30~40%, and 0~90%, respectively. The I'm MatriXX acquired the dose distributions for each scenario and the dose distributions were compared with a $4{\times}4cm^2$ static filed. The tolerance of the gamma index was set at 3%/3 mm. The greater the gating window, the lower the pass rate, and the greater the motion range, the lower the pass rate in this study. In case treatment without gated radiation therapy for the target with motion of 2 cm, the pass rate was less than 96%. But it was greater than 99% when gated radiation therapy was used. However gated radiation therapy was used for the target with motion greater than 4 cm, the pass rate could not be greater than 97% when gating window was set as 30~70%. But when the gating window set as 40~60%, the pass rate was greater than 99%.

The aim of this study was to investigate effects of reaching distance on movement time and trunk kinematics in hemiplegic patients. Eight hemiplegic patients participated in this study. The independent variables were side (sound side vs. affected side) and target distance (70%, 90%, 110%, and 130% of upper limb). The dependent variables were movement time measured by pressure switch and trunk kinematics measured by motion analysis device. Two-way analysis of variance with repeated measures was used with Bonferroni post-hoc test. (1) There were significant main effects in side and reaching distance for movement time (p=.01, p=.02). Post-hoc test revealed that there was a significant difference between 110% and 130% of reaching distance (p=.01). (2) There was a significant main effect in side and reaching distance for trunk flexion (p=.01, p=.00). Post-hoc test revealed that there were significant differences in all pair-wise reaching distance comparison. (3) There was a significant side by target distance interaction for trunk rotation (p=.04). There was a significant main effect in target distance (p=.00). Post-hoc test revealed that there were significant differences between 70% and 110%, 70% and 130%, 90% and 110%, 90% and 130% of target distance. It was known that trunk flexion is used more than trunk rotation during reaching task in hemiplegic patients from the findings of this study. It is also recommended that reaching training is performed with limiting trunk movement within 90% of target distance whereas reaching training is performed incorporating with trunk movement beyond 90% of target distance in patients with hemiplegia.

In the simulation of underwater vehicles such as a submarine or a torpedo, various type of simulations like an engineering level simulation for predicting the performance precisely and an engagement level simulation for examining the effectiveness of a certain tactic is required. For this reason, a tactics manager which can change the behavior of a simulation model according to external tactics is needed. In this study the tactics manager supporting a script language and engine which can represent various tactics and can help users define external input tactics for the tactic manager easily is suggested. Python and Lua which are representative among script languages have been compared and analyzed from the viewpoint of a tactic manage, and the tactic manger using the script engines of those script languages was implemented. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the tactic manager, a target motion analysis simulation of the warfare between a submarine and a surface ship.

To machine the micro hole, laser machining system is widely used, however, the system cannot fabricate the micro hole with high aspect ratio and good surface finish. To break the obstacles, the high frequency vibration mechanism with PZT (Piezoelectric Transducers) is proposed in this paper. The mechanism will vibrate the laser beam in vertical direction so that the aspect ratio and surface finish may be higher than the conventional. The mechanism vibrates the eyepiece of laser optics. In addition to the benefits, the mechanism enables us to have high precision and flexibility. It decreases burr and debris during machining. And it is able to machine various materials of workpiece. This research include high frequency and large travel range of the proposed mechanism. The PZT motion of mechanism and analysis on the sensitivity of design parameters are extracted from a finite element method (FEM) simulation. In the analysis, the target vibration mode without parasitic motion is designated to have the target frequency and high amplitude.

In this paper, hydrodynamic performance of FSRU which is designed to operate in North America East Coast assessed. In order to estimate the dynamic performance, the numerical analysis is carried out based on a time domain simulation program to solve the coupled dynamics for floater and mooring lines which is as well known program as DNV SESAM package. The target operating area is East coast of North America and the model test was carried out based on the meta-ocean data of the area. The mooring analysis is only considered wave without other environment condition at this time. The results of the numerical analysis show the under-estimated results at the higher wave height condition. But the tendency is very similar. Also, the motion response show good agreement compared with model test.
