For more effective index extraction and index weight determination, studies of extracting indices are carried out by using document content as well as structure. However, most of studies are concentrating in calculating the importance of context rather than that of XML tag. These conventional studies determine its importance from the aspect of common sense rather than verifying that through an objective experiment. This paper, for the automatic indexing by using the tag information of XML document that has taken its place as the standard for web document management, classifies major tags of constructing a paper according to its importance and calculates the term weight extracted from the tag of low weight. By using the weight obtained, this paper proposes a method of calculating the final weight while updating the term weight extracted from the tag of high weight. In order to determine more objective weight, this paper tests the tag that user considers as important and reflects it in calculating the weight by classifying its importance according to the result. Then by comparing with the search performance while using the index weight calculated by applying a method of determining existing tag importance, it verifies effectiveness of the index weight calculated by applying the method proposed in this paper.

This paper proposes a tag indexing scheme for RFID tag using spatial index. The tag being used for the inventory management and the tag's location is determined by the position of readers. Therefore, the reader recognizes the tag, which is attached products and thereby their positions can be traced down. In this paper, we propose hTag-tree( Hybrid Tag index) which manages RFID tag attached products. hTag-tree is a new index, which is based on tag's attributes with fast searching, and this tag index manages RFID tags using reader's location. This tag index accesses rapidly to tags for insertion, deletion and updating in dynamic environment. This can minimize the number of node accesses in tag searching comparing to previous techniques. Also, by the extension of MER in present tag index, it is helpful to stop the lowering of capacity which can be caused by parent node approach. The proposed index experiment deals with the comparison of tag index. Fixed Interval R-tree, and present spatial index, R-tree comparison. As a result, the amount of searching time is significantly shortened through hTag-tree node access in data search. This shows that the use of proposed index improves the capacity of effective management of a large amount of RFID tag.

Since 1991 when the first Web pages wore placed on the internet, information access for numerous Web sites has developed new indexing methods which are different from traditional methods. This paper, as a basic research, deals with Web indexing(Website indexing). Embedded indexing providing basics of Web indexing is examined, and essential META tags used in Web indexing are reviewed in brief. Finally, all the important issues of Web indexing are investigated in detail.

The RFID-tag objects can be recognized by a distinct reader where it is installed. The RFID-tag objects are likely described as storages rather than the mobiles in the use of GPS. As RFID tags are large in number compared to moving objects, so the storing and retrieval costs are highly expensive. Here, two solutions for spatio-temporal model taking account of the feature in the tagged objects are proposed. First, the moving-tag objects are expressed by the terms "now" as well as "path location". Second, the size of storing index was noticeably reduced by not saving the tag information of palletizing products but mapping the tagged objects.

The objective of this research is to develope a process of integrating video image into digital map. In order to reach the research objective, the work includes the development of georeferencing technique for video images, the development of pilot system and the assesment process. Georeferencing technique for video images is composed of DGPS positioning, filtering of abnormal points, map conflation, indexing locations for key frames via time tag and indexing locations for total frames. By using the proposed building process, we could find the result that the accuracy of image capturing test points is $92.8%({\pm}2\;frames)$. The eventual meaning of this study is that it is possible to find a new conception of digital map, which overcomes a limitation of exiting two dimensional digital map.

Back-of-book-style indexes have a similar function as back-of-book indexes. The best advantage o4 back-of-book-style indexes for Information access on the web is to give direct access to specific subjects of interest. Though back-of-book-style indexes are alphabetically arranged as back-of-book indexes, they have linked index entries to contents on the site by using a anchor tag of HTML. In this research, I have created back-of-book-style indexes in two separated ways, by hand-crafted and semi-automatic Indexing. We have utilized back-of-book-style indexes, that is similar to back-of-book index of traditional information organization method of library and information science, in library circumstances.
The trajectory of a tag in RFID system is represented as a interval that connects two spatiotemporal locations captured when the tag enters and leaves the vicinity of a reader. Whole trajectories of a tag are represented as a set of unconnected interval because the location of the tag which left the vicinity of a reader is unknown until it enters the vicinity of another reader. The problems are that trajectories of a tag are not connected. It takes a long time to find trajectories of a tag because it leads to searching the whole index. To solve this problem, we propose a technique that links two intervals of the tag and an index scheme called SLR-tree. We also propose a sharing technique of link information between two intervals which enhances space utilization of nodes, and propose a split policy that preserves shared-link information. And finally, we evaluate the performance of the proposed index and prove that the index processes history queries efficiently.
For tracing tag locations, the trajectories should be modeled and indexed in radio frequency identification (RFID) systems. The trajectory of a tag can be represented as a line that connects two spatiotemporal locations captured when the tag enters and leaves the vicinity of a reader. If a tag enters but does not leave a reader, its trajectory is represented only as a point captured at entry. Because the information that a tag stays in a reader is missing from the trajectory represented only as a point, it is impossible to find the tag that remains in a reader. To solve this problem we propose the data model in which trajectories are defined as time-parameterized intervals and new index scheme called the Time Parameterized Interval R-tree. We also propose new insert and split algorithms that reduce the area of nodes to enable efficient query processing. We evaluate the performance of the proposed index scheme and compare it with previous indexes on various datasets.

Since tags do not have location informations, the identifiers of tags which are symbolic data are used as the location informations. Therefore, it is difficult to define the proxmity between two trajectories of tags and inefficient to process the user queries for tags. In this paper, we define the perceptual space to model the location of a tag and propose the proximity of the perceptual spaces. The proximity of the perceptual spaces is composed of the static proximity and dynamic proximity. Using the proximity of the perceptual spaces, it is possible to measure the proximity between two trajectories of tags and build the efficient indexes for tag trajectories. We evaluated the performance of the proposed proximity function for tag trajectories on the IR-tree and the $R^*$-tree.

As the improvement of digital technologies increases the use of images from various fields, the domain of image retrieval has evolved and become a growing topic of research in the Library and Information Science field. The purpose of this study is to identify the knowledge structure of the image retrieval domain by using the author co-citation analysis and author bibliographic coupling as analytical tools in order to understand the domain's past and present. The data set for this study is 245 articles with 8,031 cited articles in the field of image retrieval from 1998 to 2013, from the Web of Science citation database. According to the results of author co-citation analysis for the past of the image retrieval domain, our findings demonstrate that the intellectual structure of image retrieval in the LIS field consists of predominantly user-oriented approaches, but also includes some areas influenced by the CBIR area. More specifically, the user-oriented approach contains six specific areas which include image needs, information seeking, image needs and search behavior, image indexing and access, indexing of image collection, and web image search. On the other hand, for CBIR approaches, it contains feature-based image indexing, shape-based indexing, and IR & CBIR. The recent trends of image retrieval based on the results from author bibliographic coupling analysis show that the domain is expanding to emerging areas of medical images, multimedia, ontology- and tag-based indexing which thus reflects a new paradigm of information environment.
