  • Reliable Multi-Reader RFID identification is one of issues in Multi-Reader RFID realization program in recent. And the Multi-Reader RFID reader has difficulty to obtain reliable data in data capture layer. The reason is that unreliable readings such as a false positive reading and a false negative reading and missed readings can happen by reader collision problems, noise, or the mobility of tagged objects. We introduce performance metrics to solve these reader problems. We propose three solutions the Minimum Overlapped Read Zone (MORZ) with Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI), the Spatial-Temporal Division Access (STDA) method, and double bigger size of tags attached on the object. To show the improvement of the proposed methods, we calculate tag's successful read rates in a smart office, which consists of Multi-Reader RFID systems.

  • RFID(Radio Frequency IDentification) technology is an automatic identification method using radio frequencies between RFID reader which collects the information and tag which transmits the information. RFID technology develops passive RFID which transmit the only ID to active RFID which transmit the additional information such as sensing information. However, ISO/IEC 18000-7 as active RFID standard has a problem which cannot use multiple channel. To solve this problem, we use the 2.4GHz bandwidth technology and we propose the dynamic channel allocation method which can efficiently allot a channel. we show the operation of the dynamic channel allocation method through design and implement with CC2500DK of Taxas Instrument.

  • The study was conducted to analyze the tag reading and box recognition performance of a gate-type RFID system using the UHF band to detect containers of red pepper. The reading rate of tags attached to container boxes was higher as tags were closer to antennas and the number of antennas was increased. Under optimal conditions, the reading rate was 100% and the range of distance from a carton to an antenna was 1-4 meters. When tags were attached to two sides of a box, the reading rate was lower when the tags were attached at the front and side. This was caused by data collision problems between tags. The reading rate of tags was 71.1-77.8% and the reading rate of red pepper boxes was 97.8-100.0% when the distance between the pallet under the boxes and four units of antennas was 5 meters or less, and when tags were attached at the front and side of boxes.
