  • In this paper, seminormality and t-closedness in ring extensions involving amalgamated algebras are studied. Let $R{\subseteq}T$ be a ring extension with ideals $I{\subseteq}J$, respectively such that J is contained in the conductor of R in T. Assume that T is integral over R. Then it is shown that ($R{\bowtie}I$, $T{\bowtie}J$) is a seminormal (resp., t-closed) pair if and only if (R, T) is a seminormal (resp., t-closed) pair.

  • Let (R, T) be a normal pair of commutative rings (i.e., R ${\subseteq}$ T is a unita extension of commutative rings, not necessarily integral domains, such that S is integrally closed in T for each ring S such that R ${\subseteq}$ S ${\subseteq}$ T) such that the total quotient ring of R is a von Neumann regular ring. Let P be one of the following ring-theoretic properties: going-down ring, extensionally going-down (EGD) ring, locally divided ring. Then R has P if and only if T has P. An example shows that the "if" part of the assertion fails if P is taken to be the "divided domain" property.

  • In a closed square cavity filled with a liquid, a cooled the upper horizontal wall and a heated the lower horizontal wall, the flow isn't generated under the ground-based condition when Rayleigh number is lower than 1700. In such case the flow phenomena near an air bubble under a cooled horizontal wall were investigated. The temperature and the flow fields were studied by using the Thermo-sensitive Liquid-Crystal and the image processing. The qualitative analysis for the temperature and the flow fields were carried out by applying the image processing technique to the original data. Injecting bubble at the center point of upper cooled wall, the symmetry shape of two vortexes near an air bubble was observed. The bubble size increased, the size of velocity and the magnitude of velocity increased. In spite of elapsed time, a pair of two vortexes was the unique and steady-state flow in a square cavity and wasn't induce to the other flow in the surround region.

In this mechanism, Ra=1534, Temperature and velocity fields near an air-bubble in silicon-oil under a cooled upper wall were investigated. Temperature and velocity fields is visualized using the thermo-sensitive liquid-crystal and light sheet visualization technique. The quantitative analysis fer the temperature and the flow fields were carried out by applying the image processing technique to the original data. • Path planning is an important task for optimal motion of a robot in structured or unstructured environment. The goal of this paper is to plan the shortest collision-free path in 3D, when a robot is navigated to pick up some tools or to repair some parts from various locations. To accomplish the goal of this paper, the Path Coordinator is proposed to have the capabilities of an obstacle avoidance strategy[3] and a traveling salesman problem strategy(TSP)[23]. The obstacle avoidance strategy is to plan the shortest collision-free path between each pair of n locations in 2D or in 3D. The TSP strategy is to compute a minimal system cost of a tour that is defined as a closed path navigating each location exactly once. The TSP strategy can be implemented by the Neural Network. The obstacle avoidance strategy in 2D can be implemented by the VGraph Algorithm. However, the VGraph Algorithm is not useful in 3D, because it can't compute the global optimality in 3D. Thus, the Path Coordinator is proposed to solve this problem, having the capabilities of selecting the optimal edges by the modified Genetic Algorithm[21] and computing the optimal nodes along the optimal edges by the Recursive Compensation Algorithm[5].

  • Minor B-H loop measurement for a rectangular high tensile steel was obtained by using Labview. A ferrite cores of high permeance with primary and secondary windings on the steel plate were used to form a closed loop of magnetic flux. To compensate errors due to an extremely small gap between a pair of ferrite core, and between the ferrite core and the rectangular high tensile steel, quadratic function of least square method was used. Also a 3D FEM magnetic analysis tool was used to measure H and B of the steel. B-H loop of the high tensile steel plate can be measured up to 520 A/m of a magnetic field and 0.15 T of a magnetic flux density.

  • Since the acoustic nonlinearity is sensitive to the minute variation of material properties, the nonlinear ultrasonic technique(NUT) has been considered as a promising method to evaluate the material degradation or fatigue. However, there are certain limitations to apply the conventional NUT using the bulk wave to thin plates. In case of plates, the use of Lamb wave can be considered, however, the propagation characteristics of Lamb wave are completely different with the bulk wave, and thus the separate study for the nonlinearity of Lamb wave is required. For this work, this paper analyzed first the conditions of mode pair suitable for the practical application as well as for the cumulative propagation of quadratic harmonic frequency and summarized the result in for conditions; (1) phase matching, (2) non-zero power flux, (3) group velocity matching, and (4) non-zero out-of-plane displacement. Experimental results in aluminum plates showed that the amplitude of the secondary Lamb wave and nonlinear parameter growed up with increasing propagation distance at the mode pair satisfying the above all conditions and that the ration of nonlinear parameters measured in Al6061-T6 and Al1100-H15 was closed to the ratio of the absolute nonlinear parameters.
