  • This paper investigates the free and forced longitudinal vibration of a double nanorod system using doublet mechanics theory. The doublet mechanics theory is a multiscale theory spanning between lattice dynamics and continuum mechanics. Equations of motion and boundary conditions for the double nanorod system are obtained using Hamilton's principle. Clamped-clamped and clamped-free boundary conditions are considered. Frequencies and dynamic displacements are determined to demonstrate the effects of length scale parameter of considered material and geometry of the nanorods. It is shown that frequencies obtained by the doublet mechanics theory are bounded from above (van Hove singularity) and unlike classical elasticity theory doublet mechanics theory predicts finite number of modes depending on the length of the nanotube. The present doublet mechanics results have been compared to molecular dynamics, experimental and nonlocal theory results and good agreement is observed between the present and other mentioned results. The difference between wave frequencies of graphite is less than 10% between doublet mechanics and experimental results near to the end of the first Brillouin zone.

Design/methodology/approach This study made a design of the research model by integrating the factors of Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology with the factors of Big five personality traits on the basis of Samrt device environment. In addition, this study, did empirical analysis of the structural equation model by PLS(Partial Least Squares) in order to find out the relationship of personal factors and mobile convenient payment system's features. Findings According to the empirical analysis result, this study confirmed that the acceptance of mobile convenient payment systems is influence by personality traits and factors based on Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and trust. In addition, this study find out that the behavior of an adoption of mobile convenient payment systems according to the type of regulatory focus.

  • This paper addresses analysis and design of a class of complex single-input single-output fuzzy control systems. In the proposed method, the fuzzy model, which represents the local dynamic behavior of the given nonlinear system, is utilized to construct the controller. The overall controller consists of the local compensators which compensate the local dynamic linear model and the feed-forward controller which is designed via sliding mode control theory. Therefore, the globally stable fuzzy controller is designed without finding a common Lyapunov matrix. and shows improved perfonnance and tracking results by taking the advantages of fuzzy-model-based control theory and sliding mode control theory. Furthennore, stability analysis is conducted not Ibr the fuzzy model but for the real underlying nonlinear system. Two numerical examples are included to show the effcctiveness and feasibility of the proposed fuzzy control method.

  • Electronic Data Interchange(EDI) has the potential to improve business operations by expediting the exchange of business documents. It will also provide substantive operational and strategic benefits to the trading firms. However, the successful implementation of EDI systems requires the mutual trust and cooperation between the trading firms. The extent of EDI diffusion and performance depends on inter-organizational, intra-organizational, as well as innovation factors. Researches based on the sociopolitical process framework in the use of IT, organizational theory, resource dependence theory, and innovation diffusion theory have identified 3 inter-organizational variables(transaction climate, dependence, external IS expert support) and 4 intra-organizational variables(strategic IS planning, infrastructure, top management support, education/training,), and 3 innovation variables(compatibility, relative advantage, cost) that affect EDI diffusion. In this study, a multi-dimensional measure on EDI diffusion has been developed to capture the external and internal integration. Then, the influence of these 10 variables on the extent to which the EDI adopting firms pursue diffusion has been examined. Whether more diffusion leads to superior performance has also been studied. International trade managers from 107 firms in the trade industry participated in a field survey. The results based on a structural equation model(SEM), developed using AMOS, provide quite a strong support for the hypothesized relations. Both education/training and IT infrastructure influenced external and internal diffusion of EDI systems. Internal diffusion of EDI enables the adopting firms to improve operational and strategic performance, whereas external diffusion contributes only to operational performance.

  • In recent decades, the socio-hydrology community has developed several socio-hydrological frameworks to understand the complexity of the coupled human-water system. Although there have been efforts to relate sociology and hydrology, there still have been some insights that remain debatable. As for this study, the Value-belief-norm theory was used to represent the human behavior in order to connect the human-water system. The theoretical framework of values, beliefs and norms was developed to understand the human culture towards the environment. In addition to the theory, norms are legislation of human behavior in the society while the values are the guiding principle to motivate beliefs and norms. The overview of this study implied on developing a socio-hydrological model consisting of the four systems defined as hydrology, socio-economy, technology and institutional. The interconnectors between the four systems are the key variables and parameters representing a module namely the causal loop diagram. Moreover, water quality, size of population, infrastructure capacity and norms are the key variables to connect the four systems. The developed model will be applied to Han River to represent the coevolutionary of the dynamics of human-water systems.

  • With the advances in technology and the trend towards increased computer-based experiential learning in education settings, business games are being increasingly used by business educators. This article utilizes Toulmin's Sensemaking Framework to investigate the sensemaking process of business professionals to reveal how they consciously reason about the value of business games for learning complex business concepts and principles. Using the analysis of responses from 43 business professionals, our study identifies key areas where business professionals find value in business games and the limitations of using business games. First, business games are found to be an effective tool when teaching practical business skill sets to business professionals. Second, business games enhance the overall learning process in professional business training. Third, despite the advantages, some pitfalls in applying business games to practice are found. We also found sub-themes, claims, and argument patterns of how business professionals evaluate the value of business games through a grounded theory qualitative analysis method. Analysis results show several ground-warrant patterns exist in the arguments on values of business games including general principle - causal reasoning, personal experience - generalization, and personal projection - generalization. With these findings, we believe this paper contributes to the theory and practice of business game design, development, and the game playing and learning process.

  • Purpose The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of individual characteristics and household environmental factors on OTT consumption, based on the uses and gratifications theory and family systems theory. It seeks to provide strategic and policy insights by incorporating key user attributes and environmental determinants affecting OTT consumption. Design/methodology/approach This research employs multilevel analysis utilizing data from the 2023 Media Panel Survey. The analysis incorporates multilevel data, combining individual and household levels. The Media Panel data, provided by the Korea Information Society Development Institute, encompasses information on households and their members aged six and above. Findings The findings indicate that individual OTT consumption significantly varies based on household environment. Residents of larger cities demonstrated higher OTT expenditure, whereas those in smaller cities exhibited greater OTT usage. A positive correlation was found between the number of OTT services used within a household and individual OTT usage. Interaction effects revealed that residents of smaller cities concentrated more on specific OTT types such as AVOD and AVOD+SVOD,AVOD+SVOD, leading to higher expenditures. While AVOD preference generally resulted in lower OTT expenditure, it increased with higher household OTT service usage. These results underscore the importance of considering both individual preferences and household environments in comprehending OTT consumption, providing a basis for developing customized media policies and content strategies.

  • We get a result that shows the existence of infinitely many solutions for a class of the elliptic systems involving subcritical Sobolev exponents nonlinear terms with even functionals on the bounded domain with smooth boundary. We get this result by variational method and critical point theory induced from invariant subspaces and invariant functional.
