VELOCITY ESTIMATION OF MOVING TARGETS BY AZIMUTH DIFFERENTIALS OF SAR IMAGES;PRELIMINARY RESULTS

  • We present an efficient and robust technique to estimate the velocity of moving targets from a single SAR image. In SAR images, azimuth image shift is a well known phenomenon, which is observed in moving targets having slant-range velocity. Most methods estimated the velocity of moving targets from the distance difference between the road and moving targets or between ship and the ship wake. However, the methods could not be always applied to moving targets because it is difficult to find the road and the ship wake. We adopted a method estimating the velocity of moving targets from azimuth differentials of range-compressed image. This method is based on an assumption that Doppler center frequency shift of moving target causes a phase difference in azimuth differential values. The phase difference is linearly distorted by Doppler rate due to the geometry of SAR image. The linear distortion is eliminated from phase removal procedure, and the constant phase difference is estimated. Finally, range velocity estimates for moving targets are retrieved. This technique is tested using an ENVISAT ASAR image in which several unknown ships are presented. The theoretical accuracy of this technique is discussed by SAR simulation. The advantages and disadvantages of this method over the conventional method are also discussed.

속도센서가 없는 비전시스템을 이용한 이동로봇의 목표물 추종 (Target Tracking Control of Mobile Robots with Vision System in the Absence of Velocity Sensors)

  • This paper proposes a target tracking control method for wheeled mobile robots with nonholonomic constraints by using a backstepping-like feedback linearization. For the target tracking, we apply a vision system to mobile robots to obtain the relative posture information between the mobile robot and the target. The robots do not use the sensors to obtain the velocity information in this paper and therefore assumed the unknown velocities of both mobile robot and target. Instead, the proposed method uses only the maximum velocity information of the mobile robot and target. First, the pseudo command for the forward linear velocity and the heading direction angle are designed based on the kinematics by using the obtained image information. Then, the actual control inputs are designed to make the actual forward linear velocity and the heading direction angle follow the pseudo commands. Through simulations and experiments for the mobile robot we have confirmed that the proposed control method is able to track target even when the velocity sensors are not used at all.

Computer Simulation of Deformation in a Rubber Boots for Translation and Rotation of CV-joint for Automobile

  • Automobile industry, along with the automobile steering system, is rapidly changing and developing. The constant velocity joint transmits power to the wheels of vehicles without changing their angular velocity based on the movement of the steering wheel. Moreover, it controls their movement to act as a buffer. In order to prevent the excessive increase in temperature caused by the movement of vehicles, boots are attached to the constant velocity joint and lubricant is injected into the boots. The boots maintain the lubrication and protect the constant velocity joint from sand, water, and so on. As the wheels of the vehicle rotate, the boots are acted upon by forces such as bending, compression, and tension. Additionally, self-contact occurs to boots. Therefore, their durability deteriorates over time. To prevent this problem, polychloroprene rubber was initially used however, it was replaced by thermoplastic polyester elastomers due to their excellent fatigue durability. In this study, the structural analysis of boots was conducted. The results showed the deformation patterns of the boots based on the translation and rotation of the constant velocity joint. Moreover, it confirmed the location that was vulnerable to deformation. This study can be used to potentially design high-quality constant velocity joint boots.

천부지각 2차원 속도구조를 위한 레일리파의 군속도와 위상속도 역산의 비교 연구 (A Study of the comparison of Inversion of Rayleigh wave Group and Phase Velocities for Regional Near-Surface 2-Dimensional Velocity Structure)

  • 서해안 조간대에서 24 channel 탐사기로 획득한 표면파 자료의 위상속도와 군속도를 구한다음, 이를 역산하여 그 결과를 비교하였다. 위상속도의 분산곡선은 tau-p stacking 방법에 의하여, 군속도의 분산곡선은 wavelet analysis와 Multiple Filtering Technique의 두가지 방법을 사용하여 구하였다. 위상속도의 오차가 군속도의 오차보다 더 큰 것을 확인하였다. 군속도의 경우, wavelet analysis가 Multiple Filtering Technique 보다 fundamental mode와 higher mode를 구분하는데 더 효과적이었다. 역산결과, 군속도의 fundamental mode와 1st higher mode 를 동시에 사용했을 때, 공간적 해상도가 가장 좋았다. 이연구는 천부 지반의 S파 속도 구조를 구하는데, 군속도의 higher mode를 포함한 군속도 분산곡선을 사용하는 것이 효과적임을 시사한다.

  • When low sliding velocities in the boundary lubrication range are operating, irregular movements frequently occur which are a result of the stick-slip phenomenon. Such slide motions are undesirable in precision machine tools, particularly with feed back systems used in numerical and adaptive control machine tools. Accordingly, this paper reports analytical and experimental studies in the stick-slip characteristic of machine tool feeding system. The main conclusions of this study are as follows; The tendency towards stick-slip effects may be reduced by; 1). Reducing the drop in friction coefficient in the Stribeck curve(on the rising part of the friction characteristic at higher sliding speeds, the system is stable all the time) 2). Reducing the transition velocity by the use of a higher viscosity lubricating oil. 3). Increasing the stiffness(Damping)and reducing normal load(Sliding mass) Therefore, the Critical velocity is decided from the above conclusions and in designing of machine tool, feed rates(sliding velocity)must be design the more than critical velocity.

  • This paper present a robust controller design method based on the estimation of velocity disturbance to construct a robust fine seek control system. A loop gain adjustment algorithm is introduced to accurately estimate the velocity disturbance in spite of the uncertainties of fine actuator. A weighting function is optimally selected from a minimum fine seek open-loop gain, calculated by estimating the velocity disturbance. A robust fine seek controller is designed by considering a robust $H_{\infty}$ control problem using the weighting function. The proposed controller design method is applied to the fine seek control system of a DVD rewritable drive and is evaluated through the experimental results.

Simultaneous Temperature and Velocity Fields Measurements near the Boiling Point

  • Simultaneous measurement technique for temperature and velocity fields near a heated solid body has been constructed. The measurement system consists of a 3-late CCD color camera, a color image grabber, a 1ighting system, a host computer and a software for the whole quantification process. Thermo Chromic Liquid Crystals (TCLC) was used as temperature sensors. A neural network was used to get a calibration curve between the temperature and the color change of the TCLC in order to enhance the dynamic range of temperature measurement. The velocity field measurement was attained by the use of the fray-level images taken for the flow field, and by introducing the cross-correlation technique. The temperature and the velocity fields of the forced and the natural convective flows neat the surface of a cartridge heater were measured simultaneously with the constructed measurement system.

DME 연료의 분무 특성에 관한 연구 (Fuel Spray Characteristics of Dimethyl Ether)

  • This paper describes the atomization characteristics, as well as the velocity and size distribution, of DME spray based on common-rail injection system. To analyze the possibility of using DME fuel as an alternative fuel of diesel, spray atomization characteristics were investigated. For this investigation, two-dimensional phase Doppler analyzer system was used to obtain droplet size and velocity distribution simultaneously. Velocity and droplet size measurements were performed at various injection pressures. Results showed that increasing pressure from 25MPa to 50MPa leads to higher spray droplet velocities and smaller droplet diameter but injection pressure above 40MPa, no signifiant reduction was observed. With the droplet velocity and SMD comparison between diesel and DME fuel, it can be observed that DME has smaller SMD and droplet velocity due to its low surface tension.

블레이드가 설치된 조류발전용 쉬라우드 시스템 내 유속 변화 분석 (Analysis of Flow Velocity Change in Blade Installed Shroud System for Tidal Current Generation)

  • 유속의 크기와 블레이드의 기하학적 형상 변화에 따라 발생하는 조류발전용 쉬라우드 시스템 내 유속 변화를 분석하기 위하여 수리모형실험과 수치해석적 방법을 이용하였다. 모형실험을 통해 시스템의 유입부에서 유속 변화와 블레이드 형상변화에 따른 고유 회전수를 계측하였으며, 수치해석을 통해 쉬라우드내 유속 변화를 분석하였다. 실험 유속이 약 28% 증가하고, 익형의 형상을 적용하였을 때, 쉬라우드 유입부에서 계측된 유속은 최대 약 56% 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 한편, 익형 형상을 적용한 블레이드가 설치된 경우 유입부에서의 유속은 일반 블레이드에 비해 최대 14% 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 회전수 역시 동일 조건에서 가장 높은 수치를 보였다. 수리실험과 수치해석 결과는 약 13%의 오차를 보였으며, 각각의 결과에서 보이는 유속 변화에 대한 경향은 유사하다. 쉬라우드 내 유속 변화를 수치해석으로 분석한 결과 유입부 대비 블레이드 앞부분에서 유속은 최대 1.7배 증가하는 경향을 보였다. 본 연구를 통해 얻은 시스템 내 유속 변화 분석 결과는 효율적인 조류발전용 쉬라우드 시스템 개발에 필요한 기초 자료를 제시할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

효율적인 혈류 속도 측정을 위한 연속 초음파 도플러 장치의 구현 (An implementation of the continuous wave doppler system for blood flow measurement using the ultrasound)

  • 환자를 진단하는데 있어 중풍, 고혈압, 동맥경화, 고지혈증 등 혈관 질환에 대해서 혈류에 관한 정보는 매우 중요하다. 초음파를 이용하여 혈류 속도를 측정하는 방법에는 연속 도플러 시스템과 펄스 도플러 시스템으로 나뉘어진다. 펄스 도플러 시스템은 혈류의 위치정보를 얻을 수 있지만, 연속 도플러 시스템에 비해 하드웨어적으로 복잡하고 신호대 잡음비가 낮으므로 본 연구에서는 신뢰적인 정보를 얻을 수 있는 연속 도플러 시스템을 이용하였다. 본 시스템은 크게 아날로그 부와 디지털 부로 나뉘어진다. 아날로그 부는 초음파 신호의 발생부, 초음파 센서로 수신된 신호를 증폭하는 증폭부와 혈류의 도플러 신호를 검출하는 복조부, 잡음 제거를 위한 필터부분으로 구성되어 있다. 디지털 부는 검출된 아날로그 신호를 디지털 신호로 변환하는 부분, 디지털 신호처리 부분 그리고 개인용 컴퓨터(Personal Computer)와 통신하는 부분으로 구성된다. 본 연구에서는 효율적인 초음파 혈류 속도 측정 시스템을 구현함으로써 환자의 혈류 정보를 실시간으로 인을 수 있으므로 뇌혈류 측정 등에 사용되는 전산화 단층 환영장치(Computered Tomography), 자기 공명 영상 촬영장치(Magnetic Resonance Imaging)와 같은 장비와 더불어 보다 정확한 진단을 하는데 유용하다.
