  • A PID controller integrated with a velocity feedback is designed for fluid power elevator model system in this study. In this case, for outside disturbance load a hydraulic cylinder and a pressure control valve are used. In this method overshoot is reduced and settling time becomes also shorter than the values achieved from the PID controller system only In conclusion a PID controller integrated with a velocity feedback is considered a suitable control method for fluid power elevator system.

  • An experimental investigation on flow pattern was carried out in molten Woods metal using an incorporated magnet probe to determine the velocity field in a Woods metal model of Czochralski crystal growth system. The local velocities in Woods metal were obtained 3-dimensionally at numerous positions of large crucible by measuring the voltage induced in the melt. Since there have not been a lot of the model experiments on the velocity distributions in the large size of melt with low Prandtl number for Czochralski crystal growth system, the present paper aims to give useful guidelines for e analysis of fluid flow in Czochralski growth system.

  • The main purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of hybrid collection system combined with centrifugal force of cyclone and filtration of bag filter in one unit system. The experiment and numerical simulation are executed for the analysis of collection efficiency and pressure drop characteristics of hybrid system in comparison with those of a general fabric bag filter with the various experimental parameters such as inlet velocity(filtration velocity), dust concentration and dust type, etc.. In present system, dust particles tangentially coming into the system body are controlled by the centrifugal force effect, and the next collection is made out by the filtration mechanism in the fabric filter media. Therefore, the effective first collection causes the decrease of dust loading on the fabric filter, and it presents quite a lower pressure drop of fabric filter than that of a general fabric filter. At the inlet velocity, $21{\sim}27m/sec$ and inlet concentration(fly ash) $300mg/m^3$, pressure drops through the filter media of hybrid system are shown lower as $10{\sim}22mmH_2O$ comparing to those($17{\sim}33mmH_2O$) of a general fabric bag filter.

  • For the vibration analysis of 3-dimensional piping system containing fluid flow, a transfer matrix method is presented. The fluid velocity and pressure were considered, that coupled to longitudinal and flexural vibrations. Transfer matrices and point matrices were derived from direct solutions of the differential equations of motion of pipe conveying fluids, and the variations of natural frequency with flow velocity for 3-dimensional piping system were investigated.

  • A mathematical model describing the relationship between longitudinal tension and tangential velocity of web/roller in a multi-span web transport system has been developed. An experiment was carried out for typical conditions to validate the mathematical model for tension behavior in a multispan system. A two-span prototype prototype web transport system with winder and unwinder was manufactured for the experiment. By comparing simulation and experimental results, the mathematical model for tension and velocity in a multi-span web transport system is confirmed to be valid for typical conditions. Tension transfer phenomenon was also confirmed though the simulation as well as experimentation.

  • We developed a biofeedback gait training system; a 12 m measuring walkway with a training walker which moves at prescribed velocity. The walkway measures a.11 temporal and distance factors of gait. This system provides visual feedback for distance factors and auditory one for temporal at the prescribed walking velocity. Experiments were performed on normal and degenerative knee joint subjects, and this system was verified to be very useful.

  • It is very important for the combat system to process extensive data exactly at short time for the better situation awareness compared with the threats in these days. This paper suggests to add radial velocity on the decision factor of sensor data fusion in the existing algorithm for the accuracy enhancement of the sensor data fusion in the combat system.

  • The purpose of this investigation was to determine whether correlations exist between balance and impact velocity, angular position, and maximum velocity of a club during drive swing. Twelve skilled golfers were recruited in this study. They were asked to perform ten swing trials and two trials were selected for analysis. Balance parameters were calculated via the force platform while kinematic variables were determined by using the Qualisys system. The results of the present study demonstrated that the average of COP velocity was faster in the medio-lateral direction rather than the anterio-posterior direction. Also, left foot's COP velocity and free torque were greater than the right foot's before impact. The range of the right foot's COP in the anterio-posterior direction before impact were correlated with the club velocity and angular position at impact. There was a negative correlation between the left foot's COP velocity before the impact and the velocity at impact. Additionally, the range and RMS of the left foot's free torque affected on the club angular position at impact and the maximum velocity at release, respectively. Finally, a negative correlation existed between the range of the right foot's free torque after the impact and club's maximum velocity at release.

  • This paper suggests a velocity integration algorithm for Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) motion measurement to reduce discontinuity of range error. When using position data from Embedded GPS/INS (EGI) to form SAR image, the discontinuity of the data degrades SAR image quality. In this paper, to reduce the discontinuity of EGI position data, EGI velocity integration is suggested which obtains navigation solution by integrating velocity data from EGI. Simulation shows that the method improves SAR image quality by reducing the discontinuity of range error. INS is a similar algorithm to EGI velocity integration in the way that it also obtains navigation solution by integrating velocity measured by IMU. Comparing INS and EGI velocity integration according to grades of IMU and GPS, EGI velocity integration is more suitable for the real system. Through this, EGI velocity integration is suggested, which improves SAR image quality more than existing algorithms.

  • Hydrodynamic characteristics such as gas holdup, liquid circulation velocity and bed expansion in a hexagonal inverse fluidized bed were investigated using air-water system by changing the ratio ($A_d$/$A_r$) of cross-sectional area between the riser and the downcomer, the liquid level($H_1$/H), and the superficial gas velocity($U_g$). The gas holdup and the liquid circulation velocity were steadily increased with the superficial gas velocity increasing, but at high superficial gas velocity, some of gas bubbles were carried over to a downcomer and circulated through the column. When the superficial gas velocity was high, the $A_d$/$A_r$ ratio in the range of 1 to 2.4 did not affect the liquid circulation velocity, but the maximum bed expansion was obtained at $A_d$/$A_r$ ratio of 1.25. The liquid circulation velocity was expressed as a model equation below with variables of the cross-sectional area ratio($A_d$/$A_r$) between riser to downcomer, the liquid level($H_1$/H), the superficial gas velocity($U_g$), the sparser height[(H-$H_s$)/H], and the draft Plate level($H_b$/H). $U_{ld}$ = 11.62U_g^{0.75}$${(\frac{H_1}{H})}^{10.30}$${(\frac{A_d}{A_r})}^{-0.52}$${(\frac({H-H_s}{H})}^{0.91}$${(\frac{H_b}{H})}^{0.13}$
