  • There is a limitation for a ship which is sailing on sea to gather weather and seastate informations. To make up for this weakness, land organizations can gather wider variety of information and evaluate the seakeeping performanceon ship. And supply this information to the ship. In this study, calculated the response amplitude of shp motions with the weather information provided in real time, the nominal speed loss with obtaining increase of resistance caused by wave and stochastic process of the seakeeping performance elements. And the results have been achieved to develop a system which can evaluate the synthetic seakeeping performance. Using this system, the results have been studied to determine the feasibility of using simulation in actural operation onboard ship.

  • An extended Kalman filter (EKF) algorithm for estimating aerodynamic parameters from missile flight data is evaluated using simulated test data. The algorithm includes a general purpose 6-DOF missile airframe suitable for representing a variety of missile configurations. The EKF is demonstrated to be well suited as a postflight analysis tool for extracting large numbers of airframe parameters from flight test measurements. A structure identification algorithm is evaluated using synthetic measurement data. This algorithm used in conjunction with the parameter identification algorithm, can select that model from a family of candidate models which most likely produced the synthetic measurement data.

  • Over the past few years, a variety of macrocyclic salicylate natural products have been isolated from both terrestrial and marine sources based on their ability to induce a particular phenotype in mammalian cells. Extracts of the myxobacterium Chondromyces showed high cytotoxicity against cultivated mammalian cells and bio-guided fractionation revealed the cytotoxicity was due to one main metabolite identified as the novel macrolide apicularen A. Beginning to understand the molecular basis for these distinct activities will require structure-function correlation studies and the development of synthetic chemistry in this area. (omitted)

  • As a part of our continuing studies directed toward the synthesis of the medium to macrolactam alkaloids, we have been interested in the versatile functionalization of the lactam carbonyl. Synthetic routes involving cyclic N-acyliminium ions are generally useful strategies that have been applied for a wide variety of synthetic transformation. Especially, the use of a-alkoxy azacycles as precursors to cyclic N-acyliminium ions was well reviewed. (omitted)

  • Improvement of cold-tolerance of Italian ryegrass(Lo1ium multiflorum L.) is an important breeding objectivefor enlargement of cultivation area in Korea. To develop the cold-tolerant variety of Italian ryegrass,cold-tolerant clones survived under - 13- - 14$^{\circ}$C of minimum average air temperature in January wereselected in the area of Dun Nae, Kwangwon Province. The 5 lines of Italian ryegrass clones selected werepolycrossed for seed production. Synthetic seeds were examined on growth characters and forage productionsin Suwon from 1996 to 1998, in Unbong 1997 and in Younchun 1998, respectively. The growth charactersand forage productions of Italian ryegrass variety named as "Hwasan 101" were summarized as follow ;ltalian ryegrass variety, Hwasan 101 was tetraploid and showed semi-prostrate growth habit in autumn andwas not only dark green in leaf color and broad in flag leaf width but also excellent in leafiness. Also, itshowed low plant height at first heading date of 20th May and excellent lodging tolerance. Expecially,Hwasan 101 in all trial regions was 80 -90% of winter survivals that was higher than 60 -90% of Florida80 and Marshall varieties. Therefore we estimate that Hwasan 101 can be cultivated in regions that is higherthan -9$^{\circ}$C in minimum average air temperature and lower than 400m in sea level. In forage production ofHwasan 101, fresh weight and total digestible nutrient(TDN) yield were 66,940 and 6,551kghq and drymatter yield was 10,050kgha. In conclusion, Italian ryegrass, Hwasan 101 was medium and late maturingvariety but excellent in cold-tolerance, lodging-tolerance, leafiness, and forage production.(Key words : Italian ryegrass, Cold tolerance, New variety)ian ryegrass, Cold tolerance, New variety)

  • New orchardgrass(Dactylis glomerata L.) variety named as 'Kordi' was developed by the National Livestock Research Institute(NLRI) in 2003. Five superior clones on selected to develope the new variety of orchardgrass, and polycrossed for synthetic seed production. Synthetic seeds were examined on the agronomic growth characteristics and forage production at Suwon from 1995 to 1998, and regional trials were conducted in Suwon, Pyungchang and Jeju from 2001 to 2003 and Icsan in 2003, respectively. 'Kordi' showed semi-erect growth habit in fall and spring, and long type in length of flag leaf and short in upper internode. Plant height of 'Kordi' was little short compared to that of standard variety, Ambassador, and heading date was delayed about 3 days as 14th May compared to Ambassador. Characters such as winter hardiness. lodging tolerance, regrowth, disease resistance of 'Kordi' were stronger or better than those of Ambassador. 'Kordi' showed $10\%$ higher dry matter yield as 15,174 kg/ha compared to Ambassador. Nutritive value was appeared to be similar in both varieties.

  • Resveratrol (trans-3,4',5-trihydroxystilbene), which is a polyphenolic compound found in a variety of plants such as grapes and wine, has been reported to have a variety of anti-inflammatory, anti-platelet, and anti-carcinogenic effects. Recently resveratrol of was reported to serve as an estrogen agonist in MCF-7 cells Based on its structural similarity to diethylstilbestrol, a synthetic estrogen, we examined whether resveratrol and its derivatives might be estrogenic using stable MCF-7-ERE cells. Resveratrol functioned as a superagonist at high concentrations (i.e., produced a greater maximal transcriptional response than estradiol) Among the resveratrol derivatives, 10 compounds showed significant estrogenic activity.

  • Rhodium(II)-catalyzed reactions of cyclic diazo compounds derived from barbituric acid and thiobarbituric acid with a variety of styrene moieties were examined. These reactions provide rapid synthetic routes to the preparations of spirobarbiturates and spirothiobarbiturates bearing cyclopropane rings.

  • The cross-coupling reaction of organo tin reagents with a variety of organic halides, catalyzed by palladium, provides a novel method for generating a carbon-carbon bond. We use this method for antibacterial agents, and synthesis of new quinolone derivatives which have carbon-carbon bond at C-7 position of general quinolone moieties. Aryl tin, quinolone moieties, and palladium catalyst were refluxed in DMF to afford new quinolone derivatives. This palladium catalyzed coupling reactions have capacity for further synthetic elaboration.
