  • Phase variance of the acoustic signals has to be investigated with the research of the medium, because the phase of the acoustic signals carries the information of the medium. The phase compensation of the received signals is required for the signal processing of SAS (Synthetic Aperture Sonar) and underwater communication. In this paper, the phase variance of the acoustic signals was studied depending on the micro-scale-turbulence of ocean. The turbulence strength of the locally isotropic and homogeneous turbulence was calculated, and the phase variance affected by the turbulence strength was computed along the ray paths. The CTD and ADCP data were acquired from a buoy system near the Mukho port in the East Sea of Korea and the ray paths were calculated by the Bellhop algorithm. As a result, the turbulence strength was mainly determined by the variation of temperature and flow speed, changing the phase variance of the received signals. Hence, we thought the phase variance should be considered in the sonar operating system.

  • Corn cobs were fermented with Aspergillus niger to produce soluble dietary fiber (SDF) of high quality and excellent food safety. In this work, the fermentation process was optimized by single-factor test and response surface methodology (RSM). The optimal fermentation conditions were determined to be a material-liquid ratio of 1:30, an inoculum concentration of 11%, a temperature of 32℃, a time of 6 days, and a shaking speed of 200 r/min. Under these conditions, the SDF yield of corn cob increased from 2.34% to 11.92%, and the ratio of soluble dietary fiber to total dietary fiber (SDF/TDF) reached 19.08%, meeting the requirements for high-quality dietary fiber (SDF/TDF of more than 10%). Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and Fourier-transformed infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) analysis revealed that the fermentation effectively degraded part of cellulose and hemicellulose, resulting in the formation of a loose and porous structure. After fermentation the water swelling capacity, water-holding capacity, and oil-holding capacity of the corn cob SDF were significantly improved and the adsorption capacity of glucose, cholesterol, and nitrite ions all increased by more than 20%. Moreover, the total phenolic content increased by 20.96%, which correlated with the higher antioxidant activity of SDF. Overall, the fermentation of corn cobs by A. niger increased the yield and enhanced the functional properties of dietary fiber (DF) as well.

  • Among all the nitrogen species present in the atmosphere, ammonia forms a considerable portion along with the nitrogen oxides. The major sources of atmospheric ammonia are animal feedlot operations including emission from excreta of domestic animals and agricultural activities, followed by emission from synthetic fertilizers, biomass burning and to some lesser extent, fossil fuel combustion. Ammonia emission factor, expressed as the weight of ammonia per unit weight, volume, or duration of the activity emitting it, is generally used in developing emission estimates for emission inventories. The factors determining ammonia loss from soil or from manures are the temperature, pH, humidity, precipitation and the velocity of wind above it.

  • Activated carbons are the microporous carbonaceous adsorbents which are prepared from carbon-containing source materials such as wood, coal, lignite, peteroleum and sometimes synthetic high polymers. [1-2] Activated carbons shows an ability to adsorbe hydrocarbons of the gas phase. Activated carbons are used in the purification of many kinds of gas phases like hexane, benzene, toluene, gasoline, phenol etc.[3] In this study, cokes from bitminous coal were activated for the purpose of preparing the activated carbons by steam activation. The effect of the activation temperature, time, steam concentration and flow rate on the n-butane adsorption, burn off, surface area and average pore size of the activated carbons, were investigated. The adsorption characteristics of the activated carbons for gasoline are indirectly estimated by n-butane adsorption.

  • For the drug master file (DMF) of ketoconazole, four impurities (1-4) contained in ketoconazole were synthesized. During the synthesis of 2, a new synthetic method of 1,4-dihydropyrazine was established. To oxidize the aminoalcohol (2j) to the aminal (2j-1), the standard Swern oxidation condition was modified to mask the nucleophilicity of the amino group temporarily using one equivalent of acetic acid. Derivative 3 was synthesized via regioselective bromination at the 2 position of the 4-aminophenol derivative (3a) using $Br_2$ in the presence of p-TsOH. The etherification of aryl bromide with the phenol derivative (1f) was accomplished by a modification of the general Cu-mediated reaction condition using excess 1f itself as a solvent at elevated temperature (190 ℃).

  • We studied the removal of zinc ions from synthetic brackish water by an adsorption method using natural Algerian Bentonite (NAB). The effect of the main physico chemical parameters-contact time, pH, temperature, ionic strength, clay weight and initial metal ion concentrations on the removal of $Zn^{+2}$-were investigated. The results showed that equilibrium was attained within 10 min of stirring time. The retention capacity of $Zn^{+2}$ increased with the increase of pH, the adsorbent dose and ionic strength. A modelization study showed that the adsorption follows Langmuir isotherm, while its kinetics was pseudo-second-order. Based on the results, it was concluded that NAB, which is natural and available, could be used as an alternative for the removal of zinc from saline aqueous solutions.

  • We have synthesized some phosphors in the system MO-$Al_2O_3-SiO_2$(M=Sr, Ba) by combinatorial polymerized-complex method. Composition and synthetic temperature of phosphors in the liblary was screened from the emission intensities of individual samples under 365nm excitation. As we were screened the higher luminescent candidate composition (or candidate host lattice) at 365nm excitation, investigated whether good radiation was possible at the 405 or 465nm excitation by give the host lattice to be discovered more various change. From libraries about 2 systems, the compound to be expected in long wavelength among the compound to be screened are $Sr_4Al_{14}O_{25}$, $Sr_3Al_2O_6$, $SrAl_2Si_2O_8$, and $BaAl_2Si_2O_8$.

  • Instead of barium carbonate, domestic barite was used as the flux in manufacturing theinsulating porcelain. To avoid the problems arising from the decomposition of barite in the body during firing, BaO.$Al_2O_3$ was synthesized at $1300^{\circ}C$ for 5 hours. synthetic BaO.$Al_2O_3$ was mixed with other materials such as kaoline, alumina, clay, dolomite. The RO content (CaO. MgO. BaO) of the batches was varied from range of 4 to 14wt. % at 2wt. % - intervals, and firing temperature was varied from 1280 to 140$0^{\circ}C$-at 4$0^{\circ}C$ intervals The properties such as water absorption, bulk density. mechnical strength, specific resistance, and linear shrinkage were measured. The body containing 12 wt.% of RO content showed the satisfactory for the application in the Fixed Carbon Film Resistor.

  • A study on the effects of volumetric loading rate, surface loading rate and hydraulic. retention time (HRT) for the anaerobic treatment was conducted with the anaerobic fixed-film process using synthetic wastewater at lower temperature than that of conventional anaerobic treatment. The results are as follows 1. Alkalinity and pH value decreased as the hydraulic retention time increased 2. Increase of the volumetric lodaing rate led to increasl of effluent COD concentration and decrease of COD removal efficiency. 3. The removed volumetric loading rate increased linearly according to the increase of the volumrtric loading rate. 4. Similarly, the linear increase of the removed surface loading rate was noticed with an increase of the surface loading rate.
