PVA를 이용한 Solution-Polymerzation 합성법에 의한 Mullite, Cordierite 세라믹스의 합성 (A Synthesis of Mullite and Cordierite Ceramics by Solution-Polymerzation Route Based on PVA)

  • 안정한 산화물 세라믹스 재료로서 mullite와 cordierite는 우수한 열적, 화학적 특성 때문에 구조재료에서부터 전자재료에 이르는 폭넓은 용도에 사용되어지고 있다. 그럼에도 불구하고, mullite는 천연에서는 산출되지 않기 때문에 합성에 의해서만 제조되고 있다. 또한, cordierite는 합성온도폭이 좁아 고순도의 미립 분말을 제조하기 어려운 재료이다. Mullite 역시 고상반응법 등의 합성법으로는 균질한 재료로의 합성이 어렵다. 그렇기 때문에 sol-gel법 등의 다양한 합성법에 의해 이들 재료에 관한 연구가 계속되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 국내의 원료를 이용하여 sol-gel법에서와 같은 고순도의 미립의 분말을 좀 더 낮은 온도에서 합성이 가능하며, 상대적으로 저가의 원료를 사용함으로서 경제적인 방법인 PVA를 polymer carrier로서 이용한 solution-polymerzation 합성법에 의해 mullite와 cordierite를 합성하였다. 그 결과, mullite, cordierite는 각각 120$0^{\circ}C$, 125$0^{\circ}C$에서 단일의 결정상이 생성되었으며 비표면적 20$m^2$/g 이상의 미립의 분말이 생성됨을 확인할 수 있었다.

  • An aqueous solution of a commercial liquid synthetic detergent for kitchen use was photodecomposed in the presence of titanium dioxides powder under an atmosphere of air at room temperature. Titanium dioxides were prepared by sol-gel method from titanium iso-propoxide at different R ratio($H_2O$/titanium iso-propoxide) and calcined at $500^{\circ}C$. All titanium dioxides were characterized by XRD, BET surface area analyzer and UV-VIS spectrometer. The surface area of titanium dioxides prepared at R ratio=6 appeared higher volume about 20% than commercial $TiO_2$ catalysts. XRD patterns of titania particles were observed mixing phase together with rutile and anatase type. Titanium dioxides prepared by sol-gel method show higher activity about 6% than commercial $TiO_2$ catalysts on the photocatalytic degradation of a commercial liquid synthetic detergent for kitchen. The concentration of the detergent decreased to about 90% of its initial value at illumination times of 2 hour. Illumination for 30 minutes decreased the concentration of oxygen to about one-fifth of the initial value.

A hybrid neutronics method with novel fission diffusion synthetic acceleration for criticality calculations

  • A novel Fission Diffusion Synthetic Acceleration (FDSA) method is developed and implemented as a part of a hybrid neutronics method for source convergence acceleration and variance reduction in Monte Carlo (MC) criticality calculations. The acceleration of the MC calculation stems from constructing a synthetic operator and solving a low-order problem using information obtained from previous MC calculations. By applying the P1 approximation, two correction terms, one for the scalar flux and the other for the current, can be solved in the low-order problem and applied to the transport solution. A variety of one-dimensional (1-D) and two-dimensional (2-D) numerical tests are constructed to demonstrate the performance of FDSA in comparison with the standalone MC method and the coupled MC and Coarse Mesh Finite Difference (MC-CMFD) method on both intended purposes. The comparison results show that the acceleration by a factor of 3-10 can be expected for source convergence and the reduction in MC variance is comparable to CMFD in both slab and full core geometries, although the effectiveness of such hybrid methods is limited to systems with small dominance ratios.

  • The $Ag^{2+}$ solution was constructed by supplying pure metal silver in filtrated distilled with constant voltage. The solution at the $Ag^{2+}$ concentration of 10 ppm showed specific activity against Gram positive and negative bacteria. More than 90% activity showed against Candida albicans ATCC 102321 at the same concentration. The addition of DASA, $Ag^{2+}$ and artemisia mixture, in the EVLN had same activity by comparison with chemical synthetic antiseptic.

  • The syntheses of different types of stilbenoid libraries have been studied recently. In these courses, the screening of the generated natural product-mimic focused libraries led to the identification of the novel lead compounds for human cytochrome P450 (CYP) lAs, melanin production, and sortase A. A library of trans-stilbene derivatives was prepared through a new efficient solution pahse synthetic pathway and their inhibitory activities were evaluated on human cytochrome P450s(CYP) 1A1, 1A2, and 1B1 to find a potent and selective CYP1 inhibitor.   • A spectrophotometric method was developed for the acidic solution stripped after an extraction of 0.5 to 2.5 ppm of Lead(II) from 50 mL of $Na_2S_2O_3$ solution into chloroform as the ion-pairs formed between their thiosulfate complexes and alkylamine, Aliquat336. Pb(II) in the stripped solution forms an complex with DDTC in pH 7.3 buffer solution, and was developed in yellow by copper replacement. The ydlow-colored solution have the maximum absorbance at 435 nm in the measurement of absorbance by UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The interference ions such as Fe(III), Hg (II), Al(III), Co, Cu, Ni, Zn, Ca, Sn, have great effects on the extraction, but they were overcomed by the usage of adequate masking agents before an extraction. At last, a good result was obtained in applying this method to synthetic water.

  • The solvent extraction process for the recovery of vanadium from leaching solution of SCR(selective catalytic reduction) spent catalyst was investigated by using Alamine336 as an extractant. The effects of experimental conditions, such as initial pH and concentration of sulfate ion, and ammonia concentration of stripping solution were studied. The extraction percentage of vanadium were increased with the increase of initial pH of leaching solution and decreased with the increase of sulfate ion. More than 99% of vanadium in leaching solution were extracted and stripped at the A/O ratio of 1.0 in 2 stages. On the basis of these results, an optimum solvent extraction process which vanadium was effectively recovered from SCR spent catalyst was proposed.
