To study the visual evaluation on the effect of ruffle's gather, the aesthetic evaluation on the gather's measurements and the image evaluation were performed. Evaluated fabrics were cotton, wool ani synthetic fiber, and 3 kinds of thickness for each fabric were selected. In order to seek for aesthetic gather's measurements, we performed the sensory test by the Rank Method on 5 kinds of gather's measurements(I.5 times, 1. 8times, 2times, 2.5 times, 3 times). For the image evaluation on the effect of the gather, we performed the sensory test by the Semantic Differential Method on the gather's measurements were got high score in the sensory test of the gather's measurements and analyzed by means of a Factor Analysis. The results were as follows. 1. Except 2 times of fabric $A_1$(thin cotton), the aesthetic gather's measurements of the ruffle were evaluted 2.5 times in cotton and synthetic fiber, and 2 times in wool. Generally the aesthetic gather's measurements of the ruffle were 2$\~$2.5 times. 2. The image characteristics of the ruffle were established the characteristics of the fabrics as factor 1, the characteristics of the atomosphere as factor 2 and the characteristics of the drape as factor 3. Therefore, we must consider the characteristics of the fabric, the atomosphere and the drape of the ruffle in production of the ruffle.

In this study, we evaluated genotoxicity of heavy metals among particulates with Tradescantia-micronucleus (Trad-MCN) assay in the various working environment. In a synthetic fiber factory and a rubber factory, chromium concentration was higher than any other heavy metals. On the other hand, nickel concentration was the highest in a semi-conductor factory. The difference in genotoxicity among the working environment was statistically significant as Trad-MCN frequencies were 4.07 $\pm$0.35 MCN/100 tetrads (p< 0.01) for the synthetic fiber factory,5.73 $\pm$0.81 MCN/100 tetrads (p< 0.01) for the rubber factory, and 15.60$\pm$2.58 (p< 0.01) (p< 0.001) for the semi -conductor factory. As a result, heavy metals among particulates in the working environment can be considered to have hazardous potential to human health, although they cannot directly induce DNA damage to the workers in the working environments.
With the selected emulsifiers for the emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate, the HLB of the emulsifier in the reaction system has been studied on the effect of the ratio of tetra sodium-N-(1,2-dicarboxy ethyl)-N-octadecyl sulfosuccinamate(Aerosol 22) to polyethylene glycol nonyl phenyl ether (Noigen EA 160), and also sodium lauryl sulfate(Quolac EX-UB), Disodium-N-octadecyl sulfosuccinamate (Aerosol 18) and Aerosol 22 as emulsifiers having various hydrophilic groups in the molecules have been studied. Results are as follows; 1) The viscosity of the emulsions and the molecular weight of the polymers have maximum values at a constant HLB value of emulsifiers, but their stabilities show minimum point at the value with the titration with the three kinds of mono, bi, tri-valent electrolytes. These results are agreed on the theory of Greth & Wilson in which the properties of polymer emulsions depend upon the HLB system of emulsifiers. 2) The viscosity of the emulsions and the molecular weights of the produced polymers increase more in the case of blending of Aerosol 22 to Noigen EA-160 than of the separate using. 3) The coagulation effects of the divalent electrolytes($ex,\;Ca^{++},\;Zn^{++}$) are contrast to the effects of monovalent($ex,\;Na^+$) and trivalent($ex,\;Al^{+++}$) in the emulsions with Aerosol 18 or Aerosol 22 which have more than two hydrophilic groups. It seems that the stability of the O/W emulsions by electrolytes is directly related to the parameters of surface physical chemistry such as surface geometry of surface chemical constitution of polymer particles.
The goal is to compare two different aeration strategies for a pilot scale operation of submerged microfiltration with respect to the minimization of membrane fouling. A constant aeration (65 L/min) was examined parallel with a step-wise increase in airflow rate (40 to 65 L/min). The airflow rate was stepped to a higher rate every 5 min and the step-aeration cycles were repeated at regular intervals of 15 min. The comparative filtration runs were conducted with synthetic water containing powdered activated carbon (~10 g/L) and/or kaolin (~20 g/L) at a constant flux of 80 LMH. The extent and mechanisms of fouling in the microfiltration were identified by determining hydraulic resistance to filtration and the fouling reversibility after cleaning. Results showed that the step-aeration effectively alleviated fouling in the microfiltration of synthetic water compared to when using constant aeration. A substantial decrease in fouling was achieved by combining with coagulation using aluminum salts regardless of the aeration strategies. The constant aeration resulted in increased pore blocking likely due to increased accumulation of particles on the surface of membrane.
Synthetic fiber materials were developed due the desire of consumers for high-quality, high-performance and comfort. A high functionality of synthetic fiber can be obtained through surface treatment that can improve hydrophilic properties, color depth after dyeing and adhesion properties. These advantages create added-value. Hydrophobic properties are an important feature to create added-value (such as hydrophilic properties). One side processing is a method of imparting to contrary function on the front and rear side. In this study, fluorine-coated Nylon/PU blended fabric was treated on only one side with a low-temperature plasma treatment; subsequently, the contact angles decreased by increasing the time and intensity of the plasma treatment. The contact angle of the untreated surface and the treated surface was different. It a showed a difference in the properties of both surfaces. Tensile strength and stiffness decreased by increasing the time and intensity of the plasma treatment. However, plasma treatment did not significantly change the tensile strength and stiffness on both surfaces of the fabric. SEM photographs showed the surface of fluorine-coated fabric and the etching surface by using plasma treatment on the fabric. Plasma treatment was confirmed not to affect the physical properties of the fabric.
Poly (vinyl chloride) was blended with blended with vinyl chloride-acrylonitrile copolymers (MO-01 : M$\sub$w/=199049, AN=22.79%, MO-02 : M$\sub$w/=238523, AN=47.03%, MO-03 : M$\sub$w/=289496, AN=52.49%, MO-04 : M$\sub$w/=341837, AN=58.68% by mixing dimethylformamide (DMF) solution of each polymer and their morphology, viscosity, viscoelastic and mechanical properties were studied. Blends of PVC and MO-01 showed a homogeneous morphology. On the contrary, the other copolymer blends showed a large phase separation with spherical domains. Miscibility of blends of PVC and MO-01 was shown to be better than that of blends of other copolymers from morphological and viscoelastic studies. Even though blends of PVC and MO-01 were observed to be the considerable compatibility at a composition of PVC/MO-01=90/10, the mechanical properties of blend films were not improved too much in most blend cases.

In the case of fiber/rubber composites for tire applications, the interfacial adhesion between fiber and rubber significantly affects the physical properties of the finished products. Generally, organic synthetic fibers used for tire cords are treated with resorcinol formaldehyde latex(RFL) primer on the surface of the fiber to improve the adhesion to rubber. Changes of adhesion between rubber and tire cords might weaken as temperature rises due to overheating of car engine and friction with road. In this study, the effects of temperature on the primer treated polyketone cord/rubber composites and the changes in interfacial adhesion were investigated. Polyketone cord/rubber composites were prepared after RFL solution treatment on the surface of polyketone fibers. After that, composites was thermally aged at different temperature conditions(60, 80, 100, $120^{\circ}C$) and times(1, 5, 10, 15days). The adhesion strength of polyketone cord/rubber composite treated with RFL primer was higher than untreated composite by more than 3 times. After heat aging, the adhesion strength of untreated polyketone cord/rubber composites increased while the RFL treated polyketone cord/rubber composites decreased somewhat.
Natural and synthetic forms of calcium phosphate cement (CPC) have been widely used in bone repair and augmentation. The major challenge of injectable CPC is to deliver the cells without cell death in order to regenerate new bone. The study objective was to investigate for the potential of stem cell-laden gelatin fibers containing injectable, nanocrystalline CPC to function as a delivery system. Gelatin noddle fiber method was developed to delivered cells into nCPC. Experimental groups were prepared by mixing cells with nCPC, mixing cell-laden gelatin fibers with nCPC and mixing cell-laden gelatin fibers containing BMP-2 with nCPC. Media diffusion test was conducted after dissolving the gelatin fibers. SEM examined the generated channels and delivered cell morphology. Fibers mixed with nCPC showed physical setting and hardening within 20 min after injection and showed good shape maintenances. The gelatin fibers mixed nCPC group had several vacant channels generated from the dissolved gelatin. Particularly, proliferation and attachment of the cells were observed inside of the channels. While live cells were not observed in the cell mixed nCPC group, cells delivered with the gelatin fibers into the nCPC showed good viability and increased DNA content with culture. Cell-laden gelatin fiber was a novel method for cell delivery into nCPC without cell damages. Results also indicated the osteogenic differentiation of gelatin fiber delivered cells. We suggest that the cell-laden gelatin fibers mixed with nCPC can be used as an injectable cell delivery vehicle and the addition of BMP-2 to enhances osteogenesis.

For the development of higher-sizing performance of paper, a sizing agent using recycled PET was synthesised. Polyester resin was extracted from wasted PET by subcritical hydrolysis and finally modified to synthetic sizing agent by mixing water-disperse PET with triphenyl phosphite(TPP). The modified PET was considered as an internal sizing agent in different wet-end papermaking conditions. The optimum condition in sizing efficiency was obtained in initial pH of 6.5 in case of rosin+alum system, and 7.5 in case of rosin+alum+PET system, respectively, and in addition amount of PET 3%. The sizing efficiency was also closely related according to the fiber properties of wet-end slurry, such as virgin fibres from UKP and recycled fibres from KOCC. The application of modified PET was good in strength improvement of paper, specially in tensile strength.

The effects of dissolved inorganic and organic matter in seawater and the characteristics of fouling on the membrane surface were investigated within membrane distillation (MD) process. The changes of the membrane flux of PE and PVDF hollow fiber membranes under natural and synthetic seawater were compared with given variances of temperature. The flux of both membranes under the synthetic seawater, without any organic matter, were higher than that of the natural seawater, indicating the organic fouling on the membrane surface. The surface of the membrane was analyzed using scanning electron microscope (SEM) to examine the fouling. The experiment with organics has shown the formation of thin film over the membrane surface, while the experiment with inorganics has shown only the formation of inorganic crystals. The results indicated the organic matter as the major foulants and that the organics affected the formation of the crystals. Permeate water conductivity of all conditions verified the quality of the water to be better if not similar to that of RO.
