The effect of taping therapy on hemiplegic gait (테이핑 요법이 편마비 환자의 보행에 미치는 영향)

  • ■ Objectives The aim of this study is to analyze the change of gait pattern by the taping therapy in a hemiplegic patient. ■ Methods We conducted the taping therapy for 7 days to affected ankle joint of hemiplegic patient and analyzed the change of gait pattern using Treadmill Gait analysis equipment(Zebris Co.Ltd FDM-T) ■ Results In terms of affected side, cadence, total double support, step length and stance phase decreased, while swing phase and step time increased by taping therapy. In terms of unaffected side, step length increased by taping therapy. Center of pressure intersection point moved to posterior and affected side in cyclogram pattern. ■ Conclusion Taping therapy to affected ankle joint of hemiplegic patient would be advantages to gait improvement in hemiplegic patients.

Change of gait pattern of a patient with cerebral stroke by peroneal nerve stimulation therapy (뇌졸중 환자의 비골신경 자극에 따른 보행 양상의 변화)

  • ■ Objectives The goal of this pilot study is to observe the change of gait pattern in a patient after peroneal nerve electrical stimulation(PNST). ■ Methods We analyzed the gait pattern of stroke patient using treadmill gait analysis system before and after PNST for seven weeks. The PNST was carried out for 20minutes every day except Sunday. In addition, the measurement was carried out every Saturday. At the fifth week, the PNST was not carried out to confirm whether the effect of PNST was disappeared immediately when PNST was not applied. ■ Results After PNST, while heel contact time and heel max force increased and forefoot and midfoot max force decreased, the gait parameters such as cadence, velocity, swing phase, stance phase, total double support, step length, stride length, step time, stride time and forefoot contact time, were not changed. ■ Conclusion Gait of a patient with cerebral stroke was changed positively after PNST.

  • In this study, the patterns and characteristics according to gait cycle were analyzed using to EMG signals during walking, and analyzed in the time domain and frequency domain. The experiments was performed divide to level-ground walking and stair walking, and gait cycle was analysis by stance and swing. In the sagittal plane by using the tilt sensor measures the angle of the lower leg, and EMG was measured from the quadriceps and biceps femoris. The tilt of the lower leg was showed the biggest tilt at HS, and showed lowest value at TO. All in walking according to the gait cycle IEMG showed a specific pattern, and is expected useful to determine the gait cycle and kind. In the frequency domain analysis was using STFT on able to frequency analysis according to time, and using the tilt sensor was identify gait cycle. We analyzed also spectrum of the results of the STFT in all gait types, and recognized that stance had broad bandwidth than that of swing. Through this study, it was confirmed the possibility of judgment and analysis of the gait cycle using EMG and the tilt in the sagittal plane of the lower leg. When used it, can improve the quality of life of amputation patients

The 3-D Motion Analysis of Kinematic Variety on Lower Extremity during Ramp Ascent at Different Inclinations (정상인의 오름 경사로 보행 시 경사각에 따른 하지 관절의 삼차원적 동작 분석)

  • The aim of this study was to investigate the kinematics of young adults during ascent ramp climbing at different inclinations. Twenty-three subjects ascended a four step at four different inclinations(level, $8^{\circ},\;16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$). The 3-D kinematics was analysed by a camera-based falcon system. Groups difference was tested with one -way ANOVA and SNK test. The different kinematic patterns of ramp ascent were analysed and compared to level walking patterns. The kinematics of ramp walking could be clearly distinguished from the kinematics of level walking. In sagittal plane, Ankle joint was more dorsiflexed at initial contact and Max. dorsiflex. during stance phase with $16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$ inclination and more plantarflexed at toe off and Max. plantarflex. during swing phase with $24^{\circ}$(p<.001). Knee joint was more flexed at initial contact with $16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$ inclination(p<.001). Hip joint was more flexed at initial contact and Max. flex. during swing phase with $16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$ inclination and at toe off with $24^{\circ}$(p<.001) and was more extended at Max. ext. during stance phase with $24^{\circ}$(p<.05). In frontal plane, ankle joint was more everted at Max. eversion. during stance phase with $16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$ inclination(p<.001). Knee joint was more increased at Max. varus. during stance phase with $16^{\circ},\;24^{\circ}$ inclination(p<.001). Hip joint was not differentiated with different inclinations. In horizontal plane, all joints were not differentiated with different inclinations. Conclusionally, In ascent ramp walking, the different gait pattern generally occurred at over $16^{\circ}$ on the ascending ramp in sagittal and frontal plane. These results suggest that there is a certain inclination angle or angular range where subjects do switch between a level walking and a ascent ramp walking gait pattern. This shows their motor control strategy between level and ascent ramp walking. Further studies are necessary to confirm and detect the ascent ramp gait patterns.

  • Gait stability is partly characterized by an extended stance phase that comprises 60 of the gait % cycle. In this study, a gait pattern was employed for a crank drive system that allows for stable lower limb kinematics during stand-up cycling. A quick return mechanism was applied to the crank system to allow for a slow rotation of the crank during the stance phase and for a quick return during the swing phase. Design parameters for the quick return crank mechanism were defined, and kinematic simulations were performed to understand the behavior of the mechanism. To evaluate the design, an experimental instrument was fabricated, and the cycling motion was analyzed. The results indicated that this new drive system can stabilize the center of mass of the user. This study can contribute to the development of a stand-up bicycle that allows for more comfortable leg kinematics.

The effect of arm sling during hemiplegic gait (팔걸이가 편마비 환자의 보행에 미치는 영향)

  • ■ Objectives The aim of study is to analyze the change of gait pattern by arm sling in a hemiplegic patient. ■ Methods We analyzed the change of gait pattern under three conditions using Treadmill Gait analysis equipment(Zebris Co.Ltd FDM-T) First, the patient didn't have arm sling on her upper limb, second, the patient have arm sling on her affected upper limb, third, patient have arm sling on her unaffected upper limb. ■ Results In terms of spatiotemporal gait values, swing phase, step time, step length of unaffected lower limb increased. Furthermore, stride time and stride length also increased when the patient had arm sling on her unaffected upper limb. In terms of displacement of Center of pressure(CoP), anterior/posterior position and lateral symmetry of CoP increased. Furthermore, lateral symmetry of decreased when the patient had arm sling on her affected upper limb. ■ Conclusion Arm sling applied on affected side would be advantage to gait improvement in hemiplegic patients.

The change of gait pattern according to different walking speeds in a patient with Parkinson disease (파킨슨환자의 보행 속도에 따른 보행 양상 변화)

  • ■ Objectives The goal of this study was to observe the gait patterns from a patient with Parkinson disease under three different walking speeds. ■ Methods The patient walked on a treadmill and we measured gait parameters using a treadmill gait analysis system for 2 minutes. The Parkinson patients walked under three different conditions, first, at the preferred walking speed, second, at slower speed than the preferred walking speed, and, third, at faster speed than the preferred walking speed. ■ Results In terms of temporal gait parameters, as speed of treadmill increased, stance phase and total double support decreased, and swing phase increased. In terms of spatial parameters, as speed of treadmill increased, step and stride length increased. In terms of kinetic parameters, max pressure increased as speed of treadmill increased. ■ Conclusion According to different walking speeds, some gait parameters of spatiotemporal and kinetic was changed.

Comparision and analysis about gait parameters based on personality types through MBTI Test (MBTI 검사지를 이용한 선호지표별 보행변수의 비교 분석)

  • This study was designed to understand gait pattern on the MBTI personality types by analyzing and figuring out specific charges, which includes analyzing gait parameter which was shown in walking movement. The personality types was measured by the standard MBTI(Myers- Briggs Type Indicator) test and gait analysis make used of GAITRite program. The objects of research were convenience sampled student of M College. Temporal and spatial parameters were calculated based on the MBTI personality types test using measured data, 68 items and SPSS pc/program was conducted to find out specific changes and obtainted the results as follows. There was not found significant in rate of swing phase and stance phase, step length, stride length, base of support, toe in/out between Extraversion group and Introversion group. But Extraversion group was significantly higher than Introversion group in velocity and cadence(p<.05). Sensing group was significantly more than iNtuiton group in cadence. There was not found significant in all parameter between Thinking group and Feeling group, Judging group and Perceiving group.

Photoinitiator-free Photosensitive Polyimide Gate Insulator for Organic Thin Film Transistor

  • We have prepared and investigated the properties of photoinitiator-free photosensitive polyimide gate insulatos for organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). The precursor was prepared from a dianhydride, 3,3',4,4'-Benzophenone tetracarboxylic dianhydride (BTDA) and novel aromatic diamine, 7-(3,5-diaminobenzoyloxy) coumarine (DA-CM). Photo-patternability of the polyimide precursor film and surface morphology of the films before and after photo-patterning process were investigated and negative pattern with a resolution of 50 ${\mu}m$ was obtained nicely. In addition, we have fabricated OTFTs with pentacene and photosensitive polyimide as a semiconductor and a gate insulator; respectively. According to the device geometry, the ${\mu}$, current modulation ratio and subthreshold swing of the devices were around 0.2${\sim}$0.4 $cm^2$/Vs, more than $10^5$ and around 3${\sim}$5 V/dec, respectively.

Reflectivity Control at Substrate / Photoresist Interface by Inorganic Bottom Anti-Reflection Coating for Nanometer-scaled Devices

  • More accurate CD (Critical Dimension) control is required for the nanometer-scaled devices. However, since the reflectivity between substrate and PR (Photoresist) becomes higher, the CD (Critical Dimension) swing curve was intensified. The higher reflectivity also causes PR notching due to the pattern of sub-layer. For this device requirement, it was optimized for the thickness, refractive index(n) and absorption coefficient(k) in the bottom anti-reflective coating(BARC; SiON) and photoresist with the minimum reflectivity. The computational simulated conditions, which were determined with the thickness of 33 nm, n of 1.89 and k of 0.369 as the optimum condition, were successfully applied to the experiments with no standing wave for the 0.13um-device. At this condition, the lowest reflectivity was 0.44%. This optimum condition for BARC SiON film was applied to the process for 0.13um-device. The optimum SiON film as BARC to PR and sub-layer could be formed with the accurate CD control and no standing waver for the nanometer-scaled semiconductor manufacturing process.
