  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to exam effects of aroma therapy on the woman with headache in range of motion, results based on Pain and the tiredness index. we applied this study in female patients with headache. tiredness, stress, pain to examine effects of easing off headache, Tiredness. Methods : The study has been conducted with three different groups of "H" University in Gwangyang, the forty-five 20's female university student with headache were randomly assigned to groups each groups did a survey to evaluate their tiredness, VAS, VRS before this study and after there are three groups: 15 people gets a swedish massage by using almond oil(I Group, n= 15), 15 people got a swedish massage by using lavender oil(II Group, n=15) and 15 people got a swedish massage by using lavender oil, smalled at the scent of lavender candle(III Group, n=15). I, II, III Group common characteristics(gender, age, height, weight) were measured by using goniometer to measured flexion extension, left right flexion, left right rotation of cervical range of motion. the measured data were analyzed by using repeated ANOVA. Especially in order to investigate the effect of Aroma therapy by using lavender candle this study is progressed 20 minutes, 3 times per week for a term of 3weeks(total 9). Results : The results of this study were as follows : 1) the VAS and VRS showed significant different result. 2) in the range of motion, cervical extension between Group I and II and left right flexion between Group I and III showed quite motional difference. 3) in the tiredness, there were no significant factors after examination. Conclusion : Therefore, the results of this study demonstration that the effect of Aroma therapy by using lavender candle didn't show prominent effects.

  • The purpose of this study was to exame the effectiveness of the hand massage as an independent nursing intervention for the cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy. The data were collected with quasiexperimental research design from 40 subjects-20 for experimental group and 20 for control group-of the radiation oncology department of one university hospital in Seoul from January 10th to March 29th, 1994. Subjects agreed to participate in this study and ranged in age from 18 to 82 years with mean age of 52.63. They had insight of their disease and had undergone radiotherapy at least twice. The hand massage developed by Mariah Snyder (1993) based on the Swedish Massage was administered to the experimental group prior to having radiation therapy at the waiting place of radiotherapy room. Hand massage was given to each hand of patient for five minutes once a day. Measurement of the patient's blood pressure, pulse rate, state anxiety and mood were done before and after the administration of hand massage for 5 days. The data were analyzed with paired t-test, t-test an4 the results were summarized as follows ; 1. After administration of the hand massage, the diastolic blood pressure of experimental group was decreased significantly, while the systolic blood pressure and the pulse rate were decreased, but not significantaly. 2. In the experimental group, the level of anxiety was significantaly lower than control group. The mean scores of the difference of the anxiety level after having hand massage was 8.60 in the experimental group and 0.75 in the control group. 3. The difference of the mood scores before and after the massage in the experimental group was decreased significantly. The mean mood score was decreased 4.80 in the experimental group as compared with 2.02 in the control group. 4. The patients after having the hand massage expressed subjectively their feeling of relaxation, well - being and being enjoyable, the significant decreased of physical symptoms and anxiety. The findings summarized that the use of the hand massage for the cancer patient undergoing radiation therapy Produced significant changes in the level of anxiety and relaxation. Therefore it is recommended to use the hand massage as an intervention for the patients.

  • This study was executed for the purpose of investigation of the EMFs exposures of personal and electronic environment. This study examines ELF-EMFs of electric appliances, subways and occupational and non-occupational human exposures, using EMDEX II (for 40 - 800Hz, Enertech Consultant, Inc.), from October 1995 to March 1996. Among the electric appliances examined, a massage unit showed the highest mean value of 247.07 $\mu$T, followed by an electric blanket of 5.24 $\mu$T. Indoor levels of EMF in subways exceerlcd 0.2 $\mu$T of the Swedish Guideline. The mean personal exposure levels of occupational group were 0.18 $\mu$T, while the personal EMF level of non-occupational group were 0.07 $\mu$T. Occupational group were exposed more highly while at work. However, the EMF levels during nonwork and sleep exposures between occuptional group and nonoccupational group were about the same. Estimates of time-intergrated exposure indicated that utility-specipic job classifications received about one-half or more of their total exposure on the job. Finally, this study would provide significant data for future research for exposure to magnetic fields, and more detailed study and research are necessary.
