나노금속분말 윤활제를 적용한 산업용 디젤엔진의 성능 (The Performance of a Diesel Engine Using Lubricant Containing Nano-metal Powder)

  • A diesel engine requires a high Performance of lubrication because of the extreme conditions such as high temperature and pressure during combustion process in a cylinder. Many researches to improve the lubrication performance on the extreme condition have been executed. The lubricant oil suspended with nano-metal particles is the one of the measure. In this study, the nano-lubricant oil is applied on a commercial diesel engine, and the engine performance is tested. The results show the increase of maximum torque and the decrease of cylinder pressure, exhaust gas temperature, CO emission.

Evaluation of Indoor Environmental Factors in Office Building with Underfloor Air-Conditioning (UFAC) System

  • During the last decade, an increasing interest in Underfloor Air-Conditioning (UFAC) systems has emerged. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the indoor environmental performance of office buildings with UFAC system in order to develope the design prototype of this system. The physical measurements and the Interviewing survey of occupant's sensation responses to the environment were carried out. Measurements and survey were made of the thermal environmental factors such as air temperature, relative humidity, air velocity, globe temperature, and the other several environmental factors such as the sound level and the illuminance of working plane, etc. And, the air quality was evaluated by measuring the concentration of suspended particles, carbon monoxide, and carbon dioxide in the room. Furthermore, the paper appraises the various indoor environmental factors of the room by using post-occupancy evaluation (POE) method in office building with UFAC system, and thus, it suggests the basic data for assessing the indoor comfort based on field measurements and survey .

전기전하의 평면계 동특성 (Planar Dynamics of the Electric Charaged Particles)

  • 본 논문에서는 평면 계에서의 전기전하 입자의 기본적인 동특성을 간단한 모델을 이용하여 실험적으로 살펴보았다. 실험에서는 전기전하입자 모델로 4개의 소형구(전도체로 표면을 잘 도포한 탁구공)를 사용하였으며, 측정시 중력효과를 배제하기 위하여 잘 절연된 줄에 매달린 형태를 적용하였다. 실험으로 측정한 평형위치(각도)와 전하입자의 고유동수는 계산된 값과 상당히 근접함을 보인다.

  • There are many engineering applications that demand settling acceleration and volume reduction of fine solid suspensions. It is a matter to Improve the dredged soil thickening as well as the dewatering characteristic, because settling acceleration of dredged soil decreases the scale of industrial process and volume reduction of dredged soil decreases environmetal challenge to the disposal sites. Direct electric current induces the movement of fine solid particles suspended in water. Upon formation of a soil structure, the current further induces the movement of water and contaminant in the soil skeleton. Theses phenomena are known as electrokinetics. This study investigates the viability, of using the technique of electrokinetic dewatering to river dredged soil for settling acceleration and volume reduction. The aspect, such as sedimentation velocity, final volume and current variation are discussed.

  • The Recovery facility, the scrubber is a collection device that injects liquid into the gas with the suspended particles using a spray nozzle. The liquid used is generally water.   • The dielectric breakdown voltage (DBV) is a measure of an insulating fluids ability to withstand a high electric field stress without breaking down. Conventionally, the presence of water or particulate matter in a dielectric fluid comprises the liquid's breakdown strength. However, the addition of magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) in the base oil can increase the dielectric breakdown voltage of the fluid reversely, if the condition of the added particles in the fluid is in balance with that of keeping down the initiation and propagation of electrical streamers. In this study, we developed a mathematical model by a set of coupled, nonlinear equations using the COMSOL multiphysics finite element simulation suite and calculated the dielectrophoretic activity of magnetic nanoparticles suspended in the presence of electric field, which is the behavior responsible for enhancing the dielectric characteristics of transformer oil, in order to examine how the activity differ in a transformer oil-based magnetic fluid.

  • Phosphor particles ((Sr,Mg)2 SiO4:Eu2+ were suspended in deionized water in quartz cuvette and used for measuring liquid temperature field by using two-color-ratio method. In the temperature range of 23~77℃, it showed the relative error from 2.4% to 4% and the temperature sensitivity of 0.65 %/℃ at 30℃ and 0.95 %/℃ at 77 ℃. This performance is comparable to measurement techniques using thermographic liquid crystal or laser induced fluorescence or other thermographic phosphor particle. Among investigated potential error sources, the particle number density affected the intensity ratio and the temperature, but the effect of laser fluence was not evident.

Chemical Vapor Deposition Using Ethylene Gas toward Low Temperature Growth of Single-Walled Carbon Nanotubes

  • We demonstrate the growth of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) using ethylene-based chemical vapor deposition (CVD) and ferritin-induced catalytic particles toward growth temperature reduction. We first optimized the gas composition of $H_2$ and $C_2H_4$ at 500 and 30 sccm, respectively. On a planar $SiO_2$ substrate, high density SWNTs were grown at a minimum temperature of $760^{\circ}C$. In the case of growth using nanoporous templates, many suspended SWNTs were also observed from the samples grown at $760^{\circ}C$; low values of $I_D/I_G$ in the Raman spectra were also obtained. This means that the temperature of $760^{\circ}C$ is sufficient for SWNT growth in ethylene-based CVD and that ethylene is more effective that methane for low temperature growth. Our results provide a recipe for low temperature growth of SWNT; such growth is crucial for SWNT-based applications.

고분자용액에 분산된 구형입자의 수력학적 확산계수 (Hydrodynamic Diffusivity of Spherical Particles Suspended in Polymer Solution)

  • 본 연구에서는 고분자용액을 분산매로한 현탁액 내에서 입자의 수력학적확산에 관 한 실험적인 연구를 수행하여다. 입자로는 평균직경 275마이크론의 polymethlmethacrylate (PMMA)구형입자를 사용하였고, 분산매로는 PMMA 입자와 밀도르 맞춘 글리세린과 에틸 렌글리콜의 혼합용액에 고분자를 첨가하여 사용하였다. 고분자로는 분자량 6백만의 시약용 폴리아크릴아마이드를 사용하였다. 입자농도는 50%이었다. 용액의 농도는 0∼700ppm이었으 며 이러한 용액은 전단박화현상을 나타내지 않았다. 확산계수는 쿠엣장치 내에서 입자가 두 원통사이에서 아래쪽의 빈 공간으로 확산할 때 시간에 따른 점도측정결과로부터 예측하여 다. 본 연구의 결과 뉴튼성유체의 경우와는 달리 무차원확산계수(D/2)가 일정하지 않으며 전단율이 증가될수록 점점 감소하는 현상을 나타내었다. 고분자의 농도가 증가하는 경우에 는 무차원 확산계수가 감솨는 것을 볼수있었다. 이러한 무차원 확산계수의 감소는 유동하는 현탁액 내에서 입자간의 상호작용이 뉴튼성유체에 비하여 가역적인 것에 기인하는 것으로 판단된다.

Second Harmonic Generation study on the transport dynamics of small molecules across liposome bilayers

  • SHG (Second harmonic generation) can be used to probe the surface of centrosymmetric particles suspended in bulk isotropic solution, because it is forbidden in centrosymmetric media under the dipole approximation. Using this technique, we can study the transport dynamics of small organic dye molecules across liposome bilayers. Because molecules adsorbed on the outer layer are in opposite direction with that on the inner layer by symmetry, the SH field is proportional to the difference between the number density of dye molecules on both sides of the bilayer, and the time dependence of the SH intensity is related to the time constant of the molecular transportation of dye molecules across liposome bilayers.
