  • The purpose of this study was to compare effects of demineralization of citric acid and tetracycline HCI on periodontally involved root surface. Twelve periodontally involved single rooted teeth were used. After scaling and root planing, root conditioning with citric acid and tetracycline HCI were carried and the teeth were processed scanning electron microscopic observation. The results were as follows: The scaled root surface was covered by much debris and calculus. The effect of demineralization of citric acid and tetracycline HCI was more reduced on scaling group than root planing group, because of hypermineralization of cementum surface and demineralization effect on root surface of tetracycline HCI showed tendency to reduction. The root planed group displayed more smooth root surface than scaling group, the surface was covered by smear layer, thus no exposure of dentinal tubule opening and collagen fiber, especially after root planing, citric acid and tetracycline HCl treated group showed exposure of dentinal tubule and collagen fiber, thus it was thought that new connective tissue attachment could be acquired.

  • A novel cell surface display system was developed by employing the Escherichia coli outer membrane protein C (OmpC) as an anchoring motif. Poly-histidine (poly-His) peptides of 19, 32, 45, 84, and 162 amino acids (aa) could be successfully displayed by inserting them into the seventh exposed loop(L7) of OmpC. Recombinant cells displaying poly-His of 19, 32, 45, and 84 aa could absorb 18.9, 23.9, 26.1, and 32.0 ${\mu}mol$ of $Cd^{2+}$ per gram cell dry weight, respectively and therefore, would be useful as the biosorbents of heavy metals.

  • Recently, an energy-saving due to the energy utilisation efficiency enhancement is important. In order to improve the heat efficiency of the general residential boiler, We performed an experiment of condensation heat transfer to air pre-heat exchanger adhered to the condensing boiler. In this research, We analyze the heat transfer performance through the hydrophilic surface treatment(plasma, etching). The results of the research, On plasma and etching treated surface, Overall heat transfer coefficient is displayed the tendency to increase.

  • The MA8 alloy (formula Mg-Mn-Се) has been shown to have greater corrosion stability than the VMD10 magnesium alloy (formula Mg-Zn-Zr-Y) in chloride-containing solutions by Scanning Vibrating Electrode Technique (SVET) and by optical microscopy, gravimetry, and volumetry. It has been established that the crucial factor for the corrosion activity of these samples is the occurrence of microgalvanic coupling at the sample surface. The peculiarities of the kinetics and mechanism of the corrosion in the local heterogeneous regions of the magnesium alloy surface were investigated by localized electrochemical techniques. The stages of the corrosion process in artificial defects in the coating obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) at the surface of the MA8 magnesium alloy were also studied. The analysis of the experimental data enabled us to determine that the corrosion process in the defect zone develops predominantly at the magnesium/coating interface. Based on the measurements of the corrosion rate of the samples with PEO and composite polymer-containing coatings, the best anticorrosion properties were displayed by the composite polymer-containing coatings.

  • Green fluorescent protein (GFPuv) was displayed on the surface of ethanol-producing bacteria Zymomonas mobilis using N-terminal domain of ice nucleation protein (INP) as an anchoring motif. To evaluate the ice nucleation protein as plausible anchor motif in Z. mobilis, GFPuv gene was subcloned into Zymomonas expression vector yielding pBBR1MCS-3/pPDC/INPN/GFPuv plasmid., INP-GFPuv fusion protein was expressed in Z. mobilis and its fluorescence was verified by confocal microscopy. The successful display of GFPuv on Zymomonas mobilis suggest that INP anchor motif could be used for future fusion partner in Z. mobilis strain improvement.

  • To improve the blood compatibility of chitosan membranes, 2-(methacryloyloxy)-ethyl-2-(trimethylammonium)ethyl phosphate(MTP), which is a methacrylate with phospholipid polar groups, was grafted on the surface of chitosan membranes and the biocompatibility of MTP-grafted chitosan membranes was investigated. The permeation coefficient gradually decreased with increasing in molecular weights of biocomponents below 10$^{4}$, and drastically decreased above 10$^{4}$. This result corresponds with the permeability of solutes in case of hemodialysis membranes. The MTP-grafted chitosan membranes displayed less blood cell adhesion than the chitosan membranes. This may due to the formation of biomembrane4ike surface by adsorption and arrangement of phospholipid molecules from serum onto the MTP copolymer surface.

  • High-performance GaN-based light emitting diodes (LEDs) with high efficiency and excellent reliability have been of technological importance forapplications in full color display, automotive lighting, and solid state lighting. To realize high-performance and excellent-reliability LEDs, various technologies such as surface texturing, transparent conducting oxide, surface Plasmon, highly p-conduction layer, current blocking layer, photon-enhanced layer, and nanostructures have been extensively investigated. Among them, advanced core technologies based on how to suppress surface leakage and current crowding, how to enhance current injection efficiency and output power, and how to resist electrostatic damage will be displayed and discussed using our reported and preliminary results. New approaches like integrated LEDs will be also introduced and discussed.

  • The Ni-based superalloy, Inconel 713, was oxidized at $800{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$ for 50 and 100 hours in air. It displayed excellent oxidation resistance, forming a few micrometer-thick scales. The major scale was ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$. Other scales formed were $TiO_2$, $NiAl_2O_4$ and $Cr_2O_3$. Generally, uniform oxidation occurred over the alloy surface, resulting in the formation of ${\alpha}-Al_2O_3$ with and without $Cr_2O_3$. Other oxides such as $TiO_2$ and $NiAl_2O_4$ sometimes also formed. Locally, nodular oxidation occurred at the nodules that consisted of diverse alloying elements. The scales were adherent at $800^{\circ}C$. However, they spalled a little at $900{\sim}1100^{\circ}C$.

  • Purpose This paper was purposed to suggest the method to produce the supportive helmet (head correction) for the infants who are suffering from plagiocephaly and to evaluate the level of transformation through 3D model. Method Either of CT or X-ray restored images has been used in making the supportive helmet (Head correction) in general, but these methods of measuring have problems in cost and safety. 3D surface measurement technology was suggested to solve such matters. Results It was to design the transformed model of the head within 0.7cm in average by scanning the surface of head and performing 3D restoration with marching cube and the changing rate of the head was compared in numerical data with 3D model. Conclusion The suggested methods displayed the better performance than the conventional method in respect of the speed and cost.

In addition, tourist and characteristic goods were of great value and image of visual communication displayed outside. After the screen printing in the surface of stainless steel, it obtained the plate coloring of beautiful a black glossy with a black Ru plating. At the identical surface, it did that the electrodeposition coating process in order to making a conductor state of image areas and a nonconductor state of nonimage areas. After the electrodeposition process, it removed the printing ink of image areas with solvent. A manufacturing process, it removed the printing ink of image areas with solvent. A manufacturing process completed with copper, nickel and gold plating at bared metal surface.
