Heat Treatment Effect on Anti-Tacking Properties of an Zn-stearate/TEA-stearate/Water Emulsion System

  • Carbon master batch (CMB) rubber sheets, which are stored in stacks, are difficult to separate during reuse because of the adhesion between sheets caused by the stacked weight over time. To solve this problem, in the actual rubber product manufacturing process, various anti-tacking agents (solid powder or liquid surfactants) are applied to the sheet surface. In this study, the emulsion samples of zinc (Zn)-stearate/triethanolamine (TEA)-stearate mixtures were prepared using TEA-stearate as a surfactant, prepared using an industrially manufactured Zn-stearate powder, and their basic anti-tacking properties were studied. During the process of manufacturing emulsion, a heat treatment process and an auxiliary surfactant were introduced to improve the dispersion stability. Results showed that the heat-treated sample exhibited a significant improvement in terms of sedimentation, storage stability, and anti-tacking characteristics since the Zn-stearate particles were reduced to a smaller size by the heat-treatment than that of the original Zn-stearate powder.

다양한 접착 시스템 및 포스트의 표면 처리가 섬유 강화 포스트의 접착 강도에 미치는 영향 (Effect of different adhesive systems and post surface treatments on the push-out bond strengths of fiber-reinforced post)

  • 목적: 본 연구에서는 자가-접착 레진 시멘트의 접착 강도에 포스트의 표면 처리와 접착 시스템이 미치는 영향을 조사하고자 하였다. 재료 및 방법: 비슷한 치근 길이를 가진 48개의 사람 상악 단근치를 사용하여 160개의 시편을 제작하고 접착 시스템에 따라 4개의 군으로 분류하였다(no adhesive, Adper Single Bond 2, Clearfil SE Bond, Clearfil S3). 각 군은 포스트 표면 처리 방식에 따라 다시 4개의 군으로 세분하였다(no treatment, sandblast, silane, sandblast and silane). 포스트를(Parapost Fiber White) Rely X Unicem을 사용하여 접착하였다. 치아를 장축에 수직으로 1 mm 두께로 절단 하였다. Push-out test를 0.5 mm/분의 crosshead speed로 시행하였다. 2-way ANOVA, 1-way ANOVA 검정을 시행하였고 Tukey test를 통한 사후 검정을 시행하였다(${\alpha}=0.05$). 결과: Tukey test를 통한 사후 검정에서 접착 시스템에 따른 차이가 나타났다. Clearfil SE Bond가 가장 높은 접착 강도를 나타내었다. 결론: 상아질에 Clearfil SE bond를 사용하고 포스트를 실란 처리시 가장 높은 접착 강도를 나타내었다.

BONE RESPONSE OF THREE DIFFERENT SURFACE IMPLANTS : HISTOMORPHOMETRIC, PERIO TEST VALUE AND RESONANCE FREQUENCY ANALYSIS IN BEAGLE DOGS

  • Statement of problem. The intial stability for osseointegration of implant has been an interesting factor. Especially, in the case of poor bone quality or immediately loaded implant, various strategies have been developed focusing on the surface of materials to improve implant fixation to bone. The microscopic properties of implant surfaces play a major role in the osseous healing of dental implants. Purpose. The aims of this study are to perform a histologic and histomorphometric comparison of the healing characteristics of three different surfaces and the comparison of resonance frequency analysis (RFA) values measured by $Osstell^{TM}$ and perio-test values (PTV) measured by Periotest. Material and methods. A total of 24 screw titanium implants (Dentium Co., Seoul, Korea) with 6mm in length and 3.4mm in diameter, were placed in the mandible of 4 beagle dogs. Implants were divided into three groups following the surface treatment methods: Group I is machined(control group). Group II is anodically oxidized. Group III is coated 500nm in thickness with hydroxyapatite(HA) by ion beam assisted deposition(IBAD) on the anodized oxidization. Bone blocks from 2 dogs were caught after 3 weeks of covered healing and another blocks from 2 dogs after 6 weeks. RFA values and PTV were measured right after insertion and at 3 and 6weeks. Histomorphometric analysis was made with Kappa Image Base System to calculate bone-to-implant contact (BIC) and bone area inside the threads. Pearson's correlation analyses were performed to evaluate the correlation between RFA and PTV, BIC and bone area ratio of three different surfaces at 3 and 6 weeks. Results. 1) In all surface treatment methods, the RFA values decreased and the PTV values increased until 6 weeks in comparison to initial values. 2) At 3 weeks, no significant difference was found from bone-to-implant contact ratio and bone area ratio of three different surface treatment methods(P>0.05). However, at 6 weeks, different surface treatment methods showed significantly different bone-toimplant contact ratio and bone area ratio(P<0.05). 3) In the implants with the IBAD on the anodic oxidization, significant difference was found between the 3 weeks and the 6 weeks bone area ratio(P<0.05). 4) Correlation was found between the RFA values and the bone area ratio at 3 and 6 weeks with significant difference(P<0.05). Conclusions. These results indicate that the implants with the IBAD on the anodic oxidization may have a high influence on the initial stability of implant.

3-아미노프로필트리메톡시실란과 키토산 처리 면직물의 제독 특성 비교 연구 (Comparative Study of Detoxification Properties of 3-Aminopropyl trimethoxysilane and Chitosan treated Cotton Fabric)

  • Recently, it was reported that chitosan or APTMS(3-aminopropyltrimethoxysila ne) treatment to cotton using the simple pad-dry-cure method has potential to prepare textile materials for military chemical warfare protective clothing. However, it is not confirmed which method is more efficient. Therefore, this study aims to quantitatively compare detoxification properties of chitosan treated cotton fabric with those of APTMS treated cotton fabric. Detoxification properties were evaluated using the well-known organic phosphorous nerve agent stimulant, diisopropylfluorophosphate(DF P). With the same amount of chitosan and APTMS on the surface of the cotton fabrics, APTMS treated cotton fabric exhibited 10% higher detoxification properties than chitosan treated cotton fabric based on the rate of DFP hydrolysis and half-live of DFP calculated from the DFP decontamination ratios of the treated cotton fabrics through time. Therefore, APTMS treatment can be more efficient method to prepare the textile materials for military protective clothing than chitosan treatment.

응집제 자동혼합형 미세기포 발생장치와 무동력 부상분리조를 이용한 하수의 처리 (The treatment of sewage using DAF pump system with micro bubble and non-powered flotation tank)

  • Although DAF(Dissolved Air Flotation) has been successfully accepted for water and wastewater treatment, the fundamental characteristics of the process have not been fully investigated. Water is saturated with compressed air to dissolve the air into the water at high pressure in saturation tank. Then the water containing dissolved air is released into a floatation tank at a lower pressure, generating micro-bubbles that rise gently through the water and carry the suspended matter to the surface. This study investigated the removal of sewage using automatic mixture type DAF pump and non-powered flotation tank. Characteristics of two devices were compared and analyzed with samples. The results showed that the PAC exhibited higher performance than other coagulants. When air dosage was 2.5ml/l/min, treatment was stable in operation. In the DAF pump with a pressure of 4 atm., the average size of bubbles was 36.2${\mu}m$. Removal efficiency of SS was 80%. At this time removal efficiency of COD was about 80%, of T-N was 30% and T-P was 70% in stable operation. It was concluded that DAF pump system with micro bubble performed higher efficiencies compared to general DAF system for treating wastewater.

대기압 플라즈마를 이용한 폴리우레탄 소재의 접착력 향상 (II) (Adhesion Enhancement of Polyurethane Foam Using Atmospheric Plasma (II))

  • 폴리우레탄 폼 소재에 평판형 플라즈마 전처리 방식을 적용시켜 접촉각 및 접착력을 향상시켰다. 플라즈마 반응기의 최적의 반응조건을 조사하기 위해서 반응가스(질소, 아르곤, 산소, 공기), 가스의 유량(30~150 mL/min), 그리고 반응시간(0~30초) 등을 변화시켜 전처리하여 진공식 플라즈마 방식과 비교 검토하였다. 처리 후 소재의 표면 변화는 SEM과 ATR-FTIR을 이용하여 측정하였다. 폴리우레탄 폼에서 질소의 유량이 100 mL/min이고 반응시간이 10초일 때 접촉각의 저하에 따른 가장 좋은 접착력의 결과를 보여 주었다. 결과적으로 평판형 플라즈마 조작 방식에 의한 처리로 폴리우레탄 폼의 접촉각과 접착박리강도가 개선되었음을 확인하였다.

  • Pulmonary surfactant is a lipoprotein complex composed primarily of phospholipid and lung specific apoproteins that reduces surface tension in the alveolus and maintains alveolar stability at low lung volume. Adult respiratory distress syndrome still carries a very high morbidity and mortality. The surfactant system is vital to the maintenance of proper lung function, any type of surfactant deficiency, whether primary or secondary, will contribute significantly to the development of pulmonary pathophysiology. Various mechanisms in adult respiratory distress syndrome may be responsible for such alterations in the surfactant system. Surfactant replacement is now an established treatment for neonatal respiratory distress syndrome, reducing both incidence of complications and mortality. With the current knowledge of surfactant physiology and the pathophysiology of the adult respiratory distress syndrome exogenous surfactant treatment or stimulation of endogenous surfactant synthesis and secretion will prove to be beneficial in preventing and treating the adult respiratory distress syndrome. The study of clinical surfactant therapy for adult respiratory distress syndrome is just beginnig and this can be viewed as an area with exciting potential. As soon as surfactant preparations become more widely available trials should begin to define the role of surfactant treatment in the adult respiratory distress syndrome as an adjunct to available treatment techniques.

셀룰라이트 치료 시 식이 보조제의 임상적 활용을 위한 문헌적 고찰 (Literature Review for the Clinical Application of Dietary Supplements in Cellulite Treatment)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study is to investigate the efficacy and the mechanisms of dietary supplements in cellulite treatment, and then to provide the theoretical and clinical basis for the cellulite treatment in Korean Medicine. Methods: We searched for articles from Korea, China, and English electronic database (Koreanstudies Information Service System [KISS], National Digital Science Library [NDSL], KMbase, Research Information Sharing Service [RISS], Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System [OASIS], National Assembly Library, Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal, Google scholar, PubMed, Scopus, China National Knowledge Infrastructure [CNKI]) until April 2018. We chose clinical trial studies by inclusion criteria through titles, abstracts and articles. Results: A total of 10 studies were selected through search. The experimental group had shown more effective cellulite improvement in 90% of studies. Also, improvement of symptoms related with cellulite like pain, edema, heaviness and increase of skin surface temperature were observed in experimental group. In addition, the density of connective tissues of the dermal layer was increased in experimental group. Conclusions: The use of dietary supplements in cellulite treatment is thought to be effective through mechanisms that antioxidant efficacy, microcirculation improvement, interstitial matrix improvement, diuretic effect, and skin metabolic activity effect.

토양수분영역을 달리한 double pot-lysimeter에서 자라는 '후지'/M.26 사과나무의 수분이용과 신초 생장에 미치는 잔디피복의 영향 (Influence of Grass Cover on Water Use and Shoot Growth of Young 'Fuji'/M.26 Apple Trees at Three Soil Water Regimes in Double Pot Lysimeters)

  • 본 연구는 사과나무의 수분이용, 신초 생장 및 작물계수에 미치는 토양수분영역과 잔디 피복의 영향을 조사하였다. 이를 위해 비가림 시설하에 3년생 사과 '후지'/M. 26 (Malus domestica Borkh.)을 재식한 3반복 double pot-lysimeter 실험을 수행하였다: (A) 토양 매트릭 포텐셜 -50 kPa의 점적관수 (IR50), (B) 토양 매트릭 포텐셜 -80 kPa의 점적관수 (IR80), 및 (C) 지하 0.45 m의 정체 자유수면 (WT45), 각 처리에 나지와 잔디 피복의 두 가지 지표상태를 두었다. 평균 월별 수분이용은 IR50 처리에서 IR80 처리보다 컸으며, WT45 처리에서 가장 컸다. 점적관수 처리 사과나무의 월별 작물계수는 시간의 1차 함수로 증가하였으나 ($r^2=0.953^{***}$, 잔디 피복 $r^2=0.862^{***}$, 나지), WT45 처리 사과나무의 작물계수는 변동하였다. 신초생장은 잔디 피복 IR50 처리에서 가장 컸으며, 나지 WT45 처리에서 가장 작았다. 토양의 Kjeldahl 질소는 처리에 관계없이 동일하였으나 8월 10일 측정한 엽중 Kjeldahl 질소는 WT45 처리보다 점적관수 처리에서 높았다.

질화탄소 표면층 및 열처리가 탄소 나노튜브 미세팁의 전계방출 및 장시간 안정성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Carbon Nitride Surface Layers and Thermal Treatment on Field-Emission and Long-Term Stability of Carbon Nanotube Micro-Tips)

  • The effects of thermal treatment on CNTs, which were coated with a-$CN_x$ thin film, were investigated and related to variations of chemical bonding and morphologies of CNTs and also properties of field emission induced by thermal treatment. CNTs were directly grown on nano-sized conical-type tungsten tips via the inductively coupled plasma-chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD) system, and a-$CN_x$ films were coated on the CNTs using an RF magnetron sputtering system. Thermal treatment on a-$CN_x$ coated CNT-emitters was performed using a rapid thermal annealing (RTA) system by varying temperature ($300-700^{\circ}C$). Morphologies and microstructures of a-$CN_x$/CNTs hetero-structured emitters were analyzed by FESEM and HRTEM. Chemical composition and atomic bonding structures were analyzed by EDX, Raman spectroscopy, and XPS. The field emission properties of the a-$CN_x$/CNTs hetero-structured emitters were measured using a high vacuum (below $10^{-7}$ Torr) field-emission measurement system. For characterization of emission stability, the fluctuation and degradation of the emission current were monitored in terms of operation time. The results were compared with a-$CN_x$ coated CNT-emitters that were not thermally heated as well as with the conventional non-coated CNT-emitters.
