촉매 제조방법에 따른 Co-CeO2 촉매의 N2O 분해 특성 연구 (Effect of the Preparation Method on the Activity of CeO2-promoted Co3O4 Catalysts for N2O Decomposition)

  • 본 연구는 $Co-CeO_2$ 촉매의 $N_2O$ 분해 반응에서 촉매의 제조 방법이 활성에 미치는 영향을 고찰하였다. $Co-CeO_2$ 촉매는 공침법(Co-precipitation)과 함침법(Incipient wetness impregnation)으로 제조하였다. 제조된 촉매의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 $N_2O$ 직접 촉매 분해(Direct catalytic $N_2O$ decomposition) 반응을 $250{\sim}375^{\circ}C$에서 실시하였다. 그 결과 공침법으로 제조된 촉매(CoCe-CP)는 $O_2$ 및/또는 $H_2O$의 존재 하에서도 $N_2O$ 분해 반응에서 향상된 성능을 보인 반면에 함침법으로 제조된 촉매(CoCe-IM)는 그렇지 못하였다. 이러한 촉매 활성의 차이를 조사하기 위하여 XRD, BET, TEM, $H_2-TPR$, $O_2-TPD$ 그리고 XPS와 같은 촉매 특성 분석들을 진행하였다. 촉매의 제조 방법에 따라서 입자의 크기 및 표면적이 변화하는 것을 확인하였고 합성 과정이 촉매의 물리적 특성에 영향을 미치는 것을 알 수 있었다. 공침법으로 제조된 촉매의 활성 증가는 $Co^{3+}{\rightarrow}Co^{2+}$의 향상된 환원 특성 및 산소 탈착 속도 향상에 기인한 것으로 여겨진다. 하지만, $N_2O$ 분해와 관련이 있는 촉매의 표면 전하 상태 및 결합에너지는 제조 방법에 따라서 변하지 않는 것을 확인하였다.

초고층 건축물 외부공간의 토지 피복 상태와 온도와의 관계 연구 (The Related Research with the Land Cover State and Temperature in the Outer Space of the Super-High-Rise Building)

  • 본 연구는 초고층 건축물 외부공간의 식물 피복 상태가 온도변화에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 서울시에 위치한 초고층 건축물 12개소를 대상으로 연구를 수행하였다. 초고층 건축물 외부공간의 토지 피복 유형별 온도 차이 분석을 위해 6개 유형(외곽도로, 포장지, 관목/초지, 단층교목식재지, 다층식재지, 수경시설)으로 건축물외부공간의 피복유형을 구분하였으며 토지이용유형별 대표지점에서 온도를 실측하였다. 건축물 12개소의 주변 환경차이를 고려하기 위해 외곽도로의 중앙부에 대조구를 선정하여 온도를 측정한 후 일원배치 분산분석을 토대로 유사한 온도경향을 보이는 대상지를 4개 그룹으로 분류하였다. 분류된 그룹의 토지 피복 유형과 외부 공간 온도와의 일원배치 분산분석결과, 주로 단층교목식재지, 수경시설, 다층식재지는 저온역에 속하였으며, 관목/초지, 포장지, 외곽도로는 고온역에 속하였다. 저온역과 고온역의 온도차이는 약 $1.06{\sim}6.17^{\circ}C$의 차이를 보였다. 그러나 조성된 식재지와 수경시설 면적의 협소, 건축물로 인한 일사도달량의 저감과 반사량의 증가 등으로 초고층 건축물 외부공간 온도에 미치는 영향이 다양하게 나타났다. 이에 각 공간에 필요한 녹지량과 수공간의 면적을 조성 전 미리 산출하여, 효과를 발휘할 수 있는 최소한의 면적과 녹지량을 확보할 필요성이 있었다.

공진 주파수 분석법에 의한 임플랜트의 안정성 측정에 관한 연구 (A STUDY ON THE MEASUREMENT OF THE IMPLANT STABILITY USING RESONANCE FREQUENCY ANALYSIS)

  • Statement of problem : Successful osseointegration of endosseous threaded implants is dependent on many factors. These may include the surface characteristics and gross geometry of implants, the quality and quantity of bone where implants are placed, and the magnitude and direction of stress in functional occlusion. Therefore clinical quantitative measurement of primary stability at placement and functional state of implant may play a role in prediction of possible clinical symptoms and the renovation of implant geometry, types and surface characteristic according to each patients conditions. Ultimately, it may increase success rate of implants. Purpose : Many available non-invasive techniques used for the clinical measurement of implant stability and osseointegration include percussion, radiography, the $Periotest^{(R)}$, Dental Fine $Tester^{(R)}$ and so on. There is, however, relatively little research undertaken to standardize quantitative measurement of stability of implant and osseointegration due to the various clinical applications performed by each individual operator. Therefore, in order to develop non-invasive experimental method to measure stability of implant quantitatively, the resonance frequency analyzer to measure the natural frequency of specific substance was developed in the procedure of this study. Material & method : To test the stability of the resonance frequency analyzer developed in this study, following methods and materials were used : 1) In-vitro study: the implant was placed in both epoxy resin of which physical properties are similar to the bone stiffness of human and fresh cow rib bone specimen. Then the resonance frequency values of them were measured and analyzed. In an attempt to test the reliability of the data gathered with the resonance frequency analyzer, comparative analysis with the data from the Periotest was conducted. 2) In-vivo study: the implants were inserted into the tibiae of 10 New Zealand rabbits and the resonance frequency value of them with connected abutments at healing time are measured immediately after insertion and gauged every 4 weeks for 16 weeks. Results : Results from these studies were such as follows : The same length implants placed in Hot Melt showed the repetitive resonance frequency values. As the length of abutment increased, the resonance frequency value changed significantly (p<0.01). As the thickness of transducer increased in order of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 mm, the resonance frequency value significantly increased (p<0.05). The implants placed in PL-2 and epoxy resin with different exposure degree resulted in the increase of resonance frequency value as the exposure degree of implants and the length of abutment decreased. In comparative experiment based on physical properties, as the thickness of transducer increased, the resonance frequency value increased significantly(p<0.01). As the stiffness of substances where implants were placed increased, and the effective length of implants decreased, the resonance frequencies value increased significantly (p<0.05). In the experiment with cow rib bone specimen, the increase of the length of abutment resulted in significant difference between the results from resonance frequency analyzer and the $Periotest^{(R)}$. There was no difference with significant meaning in the comparison based on the direction of measurement between the resonance frequency value and the $Periotest^{(R)}$ value (p<0.05). In-vivo experiment resulted in repetitive patternes of resonance frequency. As the time elapsed, the resonance frequency value increased significantly with the exception of 4th and 8th week (p<0.05). Conclusion : The development of resonance frequency analyzer is an attempt to standardize the quantitative measurement of stability of implant and osseointegration and compensate for the reliability of data from other non-invasive measuring devices It is considered that further research is needed to improve the efficiency of clinical application of resonance frequency analyzer. In addition, further investigation is warranted on the standardized quantitative analysis of the stability of implant.

우리나라 대표적(代表的) 표본인구(標本人口)의 연간(年間) 손상(損傷) 및 중독발생율(中毒發生率)과 역학적(疫學的) 특성(特性) (National Survey of Injury and Poisoning on a Representative Sample Population of Koreans)

  • Despite the public health importance of injury and poisoning in terms of its high mortality and incidence, epidemiologic information to be utilized are scarce in Korea. This study was carried out in 1990 on a representative sample population (about 55,000 persons) along with the 6th National Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey in order to estimate the magnitude of injury and poisoning occurrence and to identify its epidemiologic characteristics which can be aided for establishing preventive strategy. Pre-tested and structured Questionnaire was used by trained interviewer to collect data including general information of the person, various information on the injury and poisoning during the past one year such as time and place of its occurrence, its nature and external causes, type of medical institute attended, duration of treatment and outcome of the accident occured. In analysis of the data collected incidence rates per 1000 persons by sex, age group and its nature as well as external causes, and relative frequencies were calculated. The result obtained are as followings; 1. The incidence rate per 1000 was 30 for both sexes, 39 for male and 22 for female, male being 1.8 times more frequent than female. Age adjusted incidences were not much different from the crude rates. Age group specific rate curve showed bimodal shape in both sexes, small peaks in preschool children and higher peaks in older ages. The incidence rate per 1000 people by area was highest in Jeon-bug province (57/1000) and the lowest in Daegu city(11/1000). 2. The place where the injuries occured were road in 46%, within the boundary of house in 25%, and working place in 12% The injuries and poisoning had occured more frequently during the months from March to August of the year than other months. 3. The relatively frequent injuries by its nature were contusion with intact skin surface (19%), fracture of upper limb (13%), open wound of head, neck and trunk (12%) and fracture of lower limb (11%) among males; contusion with intact skin surface (28%), sprains and strains of joints and adjacent muscle (14%), fracture of upper limb (10%) and fracture of lower limb (9%) among females. Higher incidence rate among males than females were fracture of skull (4.5 times), open wound and fractures of limbs ($2{\sim}3$ times). Age specific rate of injuries and poisoning by its nature showed increasing pattern by age in fractures of upper and lower limbs and sprains & strains of joints whereas the age group of 30's showed highest incidence in open wounds of upper limb. Fractures of radius and ulna in upper limb, fractures of tibia & fibula and ankle in lower limb were most frequent among fractures of upper and lower limbs. The frequent injuries among sprains and strains of joints and adjacent muscles were that of ankle, foot and back, and among open wound were that of head and fingers. 4. Relative frequency of injuries and poisoning by external causes showed following order : other accidents (25%), accidental falls (23%), motor vehicle accident (22%) and other road vehicle accident (14%) among males and accidental falls (37%), motor vehicle accident (24%) and other accident (18%) among females. The external causes revealing higher incidences among males than females, were other road vehicle accident (4.8 times), vehicle accident not elsewhere classifiable (4.4 times), accidental poisoning (4.4 times), accidents due to natural and environmental factors (2.8 times), and sucide & self-inflicted injuries (2.8 times). Age specific incidence by external causes for frequent injuries showed that incidence of other accident steadily increased from 10's till age 50's; motor vehicle traffic accident increased from age 20's and dropped after age 60's; on the other hand accidental fall increased strikingly by age. The most frequent external causes among motor vehicle traffic accidents was motor vehicle traffic accident involving collision with pedstrain (69%), pedal cycle accident (30%) and other road vehicle accident (71%) among other road vehicle accidents; falls on same level from slipping, tripping or standing (44%) and other falls from one level to another among accidental falls; accidents caused by machinary (32%) for male and striking against or struck accidentally by objects or person for female among other accidents. 5. Seventy nine percent of the injuries and poisonings were treated in general hospital or hospital/clinic. The duration of treatment ranged from a few days to 123 weeks; the majority(52%) took under 2 weeks, 36% for $3{\sim}8$ weeks and 4% over 21 weeks. 6. The accident resulted in full recovery of normal healthy state in 62%, residual functional defects in 21% and on process of treatment in 16%.

착생에 따른 담쟁이덩굴 흡착근 표피조직의 변화 (Epidermal Changes of the Adhesive Disks During Wall Attachment in Parthenocissus tricuspidata)

  • 식물체는 기관에 따라 조직 및 세포의 종류와 배열이 분화 초기단계에 이미 정해져 특징적인 형태를 갖게 되나 여러 요인에 의해 변형되기도 한다. 줄기에 덩굴손이 변형되어 부정근인 흡착근을 형성하는 담쟁이덩굴은 벽면 등의 피착면에 착생하는 식물로 이들의 흡착근은 특징적인 구조를 지닌다. 본 연구에서는 착생에 따른 담쟁이덩굴의 흡착근 표피조직의 분화양상을 전자현미경적으로 추적하여 연구하였다. 흡착근은 분화 초기에 경정단 분열조직으로부터 포에 둘러싸여 발달한다. 초기의 어린 흡착근은 곤봉형으로 상 하피 구별이 되지 않으나 활발히 생장하는 흡착근은 구형으로 상 하피가 뚜렷이 분화된다. 최외층의 표피는 장방형의 세포로 구성되며 이들 표피세포는 세포벽에 얇은 각피층을 지닌다. 착생 전 흡착근은 볼록한 평철형이 되고 표피세포내 액포에는 전자밀도가 매우 높은 물질이 다량 축적된다. 착생 직전 및 직후 흡착근의 상 하피조직은 빠르게 변형되어 액포에 축적된 물질이 분비되면서 피착면에 더욱 밀착되고 수분이 소실된 흡착근은 세포사멸의 과정을 거친다. 이 시기 하피조직에서의 변화는 상피조직에 비해 급격히 일어나며, 분비물질은 벽면에 강력히 흡착되어 착생의 기능을 수행하게 된다. 특히 착생을 전후로 급격한 하피조직의 변화가 일어나 흡착근 하피조직의 외곽면이 먼저 피착면에 접촉하고 전자밀도가 높은 물질이 분비되어 오목한 상태를 유지하던 중앙부위도 물질이 분비되면서 흡착근 전체가 부착되게 된다. 즉, 전자밀도가 높은 물질의 분비와 수분소실에 의한 흡착근의 피착면으로의 밀착 등이 담쟁이덩굴 흡착근의 착생에 매우 중요한 역할을 하는 것으로 추정된다. 매년 이와 같은 방법으로 흡착근은 분화 초기단계에서부터 노화에 이르기까지 여러 단계를 거치며 신속한 형태적, 구조적 변화를 수반하면서 강력한 착생기능을 수행하게 된다.토끼 면역항체를 선모충유충 조직항원에 반응시켰을 때 충체의 표피와 기저층 그리고 EIM 및 stichocyte의 ${\alpha}_0\;{\alpha}_1$ 과립에 황금입자가 표지되었다. 따라서 1일 동안 배설되는 분비배설항원은 선모충 유충의 표피와 stichocyte의 ${\alpha}_0\;{\alpha}_1$ 과립에서 유도되는 반면에 3일 동안 배설되는 분비배설항원은 표피와 stichocyte의 ${\alpha}_0$ 과립에서 유도되고, 선모충유충 감염후 1주, 4주에 실험쥐에서 형성되는 감염항체는 선모충의 표피와 기저층 그리고 EIM에서 분비되는 항원에 의하여 생성된다. 이상의 결과로 선모충의 분비배설항원과 감염항원은 선모충 유충의 표피와 EIM및 stichocyte의 ${\alpha}_0\;{\alpha}_1$ 과립에서 유도되며 이들은 45 kDa 단백을 포함하고 있는 것으로 생각된다.성하고 있는 세포들에는 세포질이 어두운 세포와 밝은 세포가 있었으며, 세포질내에는 전자밀도가 높은 분비과립이 관찰되었다. 전체적인 특징은 눈물샘분비세포 중 장액세포의 것과 비슷하였으나, 과립의 크기는 작았다. 분비관을 구성하는 세포들 사이에도 연접복합체가 매우 잘 발달되어 있었다. 샘포에서 사이관으로 이행되는 곳에서도 샘포세포와 사이관세포 사이에서도 연접복합체가 관찰되었다. 분비관세포의 분비과립 가운데는 중심부분에 전자밀도가 더 높은 중심을 가진 다른 모양의 과립이 관찰되기도 하였다. 의해 사망한 환자는 없었다. 결 론: 자궁경부암 환자에 항암화학요법과 동시에 외부 방사선조사와 고선량률의 강내조사를 시행한 결과 독성이 심하지 않고 국소제어율과 단기 생존율이 양호하여 안전하고 효율적인 치료방법으로 생각된다. 그러나 장기 생존율과

1990/91년 남극하계 브렌스필드 해협 표층해수의 $\delta$/SUP 18/O와 영양염 분포 (Oxygen-18 and Nutrients in the Surface Waters of the Bransfield Strait, Antarctica during Austral Summer 1990/91)

  • 남극 브렌스필드 해협의 표층 수괴 특성을 파악하기 위하여 수온, 염분 및 영양염 류와 더불어 결빙이나 해빙의 영향을 받지 않는 산소 동위원소비를 측정하였다. 염분, 수온, $\delta$/SUP 18/O은 각각 34.0~34.5$\textperthousand$, -0.5~2.1$^{\circ}C$, -0.50~ -0.26$\textperthousand$의 분포 범위 를 보이며, 이들의 지역적 분포는 대체로 해협의 북쪽에 저염, 고온의 해수가 남쪽에 고염, 저온의 해수가 존재한다. T-S diagram은 일정한 경향성이 분산된 결과를 보이는 데, 이는 증발, 강우, 결빙 및 해빙의 복합적인 원인에 의한 것으로 보이며, 염분과 $\delta$/SUP 18/O의 관계로 미루어 증발, 강우에 의한 영향보다는 결빙, 해빙에 의한 영향 이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 영양염의 분포는 해협의 북쪽에서 낮고, 남쪽으로 가면서 높 아지는 분포를 보인다. 해협의 북쪽에 고온, 저염 및 저영양염의 수괴가 분포하는 것 으로 보아 브랜스필드 해협의 북쪽에서 얼음 녹은 물이 해협으로 유입되는 것으로 판 단된다. 또한 N/P 비를 비교하여 보면 해협의 해수는 높은 N/P비(19.4)와 낮은 N/P비 (16.7), 2개의 N/P으로 나뉘어 지는데, 높은 N/P비는 해협의 북쪽에, 낮은 N/P비는 남 쪽에 분포한다. 얼음이 녹으면서 표층해수에서 의 질산염의 농도가 인산염의 농도보다 빨리 감소하며, peak ice 근처에서의 N/P비가 특히 높은 것으로 보고되어 이러한 N/P 비의 분포도 해협의 북쪽에서 유입되는 얼음 녹은 물의 증거가 될 수 있을 것으로 생 각된다. 엽록소 a 분포는 대체로 Weddell Sea쪽에서 남동쪽으로 가면서 증가하며, 영 양염 농도가 낮은 얼음 녹은 물의 유입이 얼룩소 a의 농도를 감소시키는 것으로 사료 된다.

논·밭토양으로부터 추출한 Humic Acid의 수소이온 친화력 분포 (Proton Affinity Distributions of Humic Acid Extracted from Upland and Paddy Soils)

  • 토양으로 투입되는 유기물의 종류나 투입된 후의 부식화과정(humification)을 고려하여 선정된 논 밭 토양으로부터 부식간(humic acid)을 추출 정제하였다. 부식간의 유효흡착 부위에 대한 수소이온과 다른 이온간의 흡착 경쟁을 이해하기 위한 첫단계로 수소이온에 대한 친화력(proton affinity)를 전위차적정에 의하여 측정하였다. 또한, 이의 전개양상을 Discrete ligand electrostatic model인 Model A와 Model V로 해석하고자 하였다. 추출 정제된 부식산들은 pH 변화(pH 3~11)에 따라 수소이온 친화력의 분포양상이 서로 차이를 보였으며, 서로 다른 농도의 배경전해질(0.01, 0.10, 0.50 and 1.00 M NaNO3)하에서 이온강도의 증가에 따라 부식산의 표면 음전하량이 증가하였다. 특히 남원통의 경우 증가폭이 pH 6.39 이하에서 상대적으로 컸다. 또한, continuous titration보다 batch titration에서 표면전하에 대한 이온강도에 따른 차이가 확인하였다. 이는 continuous titration시 반응시간의 부족으로 평형상태를 이루지 못해 전해질의 영향을 완전히 반영하지 못하여 이런 결과가 도출된 것으로 생각되어진다. 그러므로, 부식산을 다른 이온종과 반응시키고자 할 때 충분한 반응시간(7일)을 가능케 하는 batch titration이 적절할 것으로 생각된다. 이번 실험에 적용된 Model A와 V는 모두 좋은 예측값 (RSD<$5.46{\times}10-2cmolc\;kg-1$)을 보였다. Model A는 Model V에 비하여 단순하나, 상대적으로 많은 매개변수(fitted parameters)을 필요로 하며, 결합부위인 부식산 관능기들의 겉보기 해리상수(Kapp) 변화는 관능기의 불균일성이라기 보다는 정전기적 인력의 영향이 더 크다고 생각된다. Model V는 관능기들의 해리상수를 중간값과 전개인자로 나타냄으로써 부식산 표면의 불균일성(heterogeneity)을 좀 더 실질적으로 표현해 주고 있다.

방사광 전파위상대조 동결미세단층촬영법을 활용한 3차원 조직학 (3D Histology Using the Synchrotron Radiation Propagation Phase Contrast Cryo-microCT)

  • 조직표본의 실제적인 3차원 구조에 대한 정보를 3차원 조직학이라고 하였다. 무른 성분들이 섞여 있고, 물을 포함 하고 있는 조직 내부의 미세구조의 3차원적 분석을 위해 방사광의 X선을 광원으로 하는 위상대조 미세단층 촬영이 활용되고 있다. 하지만, X선 위상대조영상 분석에서 물을 포함하고 있는 조직에서는 위상대조가 제대로 구현되지 않다는 것을 알게 되었다. 이러한 현상을 해결하기 위해 다양한 방법들을 적용하였으며, 표본을 얼렸을 때 위상대조가 강화된다는 사실을 확인하였다. 방사광 전파위상대조 동결미세단층촬영은 포항가속기연구소 X선 영상빔라인에서 수행하였다. 표본을 동결상태로 유지하면서 $0.18^{\circ}$ 간격으로 $180^{\circ}$ 회전하였으며, 표본을 통과한 X선에 의해 섬광기에 맺힌 영상을 광학렌즈로 확대하여 CCD카메라로 모았다. 각 표본 전체 투사영상을 OCTOPUS 소프트웨어로 재구성하여 2차원 단면영상으로 만들고, Amira 소프트웨어를 이용하여 3차원 영상으로 재구성하였으며, 단면영상에서 각 구조에 대한 구역화와 랜더링 작업을 수행하였다. 물에 의한 위상대조 방해 영향을 줄이기 위해 표본을 얼렸을 때 위상대조는 강화되었으나 동결팽창에 의한 조직변형이 관찰되었다. 표본을 막힌 공간에 넣고 주위를 포매제로 채워 급속냉동 동안 표본이 압박되도록 하였을 때 위상대조의 강화와 동결팽창에 의한 조직변형을 줄일 수 있었다. 결론적으로, 생체조직 내부 미세구조의 비파괴, 고해상도 3차원 영상분석에 있어 조직표본을 동결포매제로 포매 후 급속냉동하고, 방사광에서 방출되는 X선을 광원으로 하는 전파위상대조 동결미세단층촬영법은 효과적인 방법이 될 수 있을 것으로 기대한다.

안동시 저수지에서의 대량 어류 폐사에 대한 원인과 대책에 관한 연구 (Study on Causes and Countermeasures for the Mass Death of Fish in Reservoirs in Andong-si)

  • This study focused on determining the specific causes and prevention methods of mass fish deaths occurred in five reservoirs (Gagugi, Neupgokgi, Danggokgi, Sagokji, and Hangokji) in Andong-si. For this purpose, a survey of agricultural land and livestock in the upper part of the reservoirs and analysis of water quality in the reservoir irrespective of whether it rains or not were conducted. We attempted to examine the changes in dissolved oxygen (DO) in the surface and bottom layers of reservoirs and changes in DO depending on the amount of livestock compost and time. Based on the above investigations, treatment plans were established to efficiently control the inflow of contaminated water into reservoirs. The rainfall and farmland areas in the upper part of the reservoir were investigated using Google and aviation data provided by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport. The current status of livestock farms distributed around the reservoirs was also examined because compost from these farms can flow into the reservoir when it rains. Various water quality parameters, such as phosphate phosphorus (PO4-P) and ammonium nitrogen (NH3-N), were analyzed and compared for each reservoir during the rainy season. Changes in the DO concentration and electrical conductivity (EC) were also observed at the inlet of the reservoir during raining using an automated instrument. In addition, DO was measured until the concentration reached 0 ppm in 10 min by adding livestock compost at various concentrations (0.05%, 0.1%, 0.3%, and 0.5% by wt.), where the concentration of the livestock compost represents the relative weight of rainwater. The DO concentration in the surface layer of reservoirs was 3.7 to 5.3 ppm, which is sufficient for fish survival. However, the fish could not survive at the bottom layer with DO concentration of 0.0-2.1 ppm. When the livestock compost was 0.3%, DO required 10-19 h to reach 0 ppm. Considering these results, it was confirmed that the DO in the bottom layer of the reservoir could easily change to an anaerobic state within 24 h when the livestock compost in the rainwater exceeds 0.3%. The results show that the direct cause of fish mortality is the inflow of excessive livestock compost into reservoirs during the first rainfall in spring. All the surveyed reservoirs had relatively good topographical features for the inflow of compost generated from livestock farms. This keeps the bottom layer of the reservoir free of oxygen. Therefore, to prevent fish death due to insufficient DO in the reservoir, measures should be undertaken to limit the amount of livestock compost flowing into the reservoir within 0.3%, which has been experimentally determined. As a basic countermeasure, minerals such as limestone, dolomite, and magnesia containing calcium and magnesium should be added to the compost of livestock farms around the reservoir. These minerals have excellent pollutant removal capabilities when sprayed onto the compost. In addition, measures should be taken to prevent fish death according to the characteristics of each reservoir.

  • The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70$\pm$1.32mmHg/min)compared to CF dialyzers(4.32$\pm$0.55mmHg/min)(p<0.05). However, there was no observable difference in the UFR between the two dialyzers. Neither APD nor UFR showed any significant increase with an increasing number of reuses for up to more than 20reuses. A substantial number of failures observed in APD(larger than 20mmHe/min)on the reused dialyzers(2 out of 40 CP and S out 26 C-DAK) were attributed to the Possible damage on the fibers. The purpose of this study is to identify major geometrical differences between Korean femurs 3nd others that we believe belong to Caucasians so that we would be able to get insights into the femoral component design that fits Asians including Koreans. We utilized computerized tomography (CT) images of femurs extracted from cadavers. The CT images were transformed into bitmap data by using a film scanner, and then analyzed by using a commercially available software called Image v.1.0 and a Macintosh IIci computer.The resulting data were compared with already published data. The major results show that the geometry of the Korean femurs is significantly different from that of Caucasians: (1) the anteversion angle and the canal flare index are greater by the amount of approximately 8˚ and 0.5, respectively, (2) the shape of the isthmus cross section is more round, and (3) the distance between the teaser trochanter and the proximal border of the isthmus is shelter by about 15 mm. Then, the bispectra of the signal x (t) at the frequencies (f0, f0) and (f0, 2f0) are calculated to estimate the nonlinear propagation characteristics as their magnitude ratio, w here since bispectrum is free from the gaussian additive noise we can get the value with high S/N. Dependence of Fo on Nk and Bi has been observed by experiment, and the results have been compared with the numerical results obtained by solving a 2-dimensional conduction equation. Optimal stimulus parameters, which can minimize muscle fatigue and can achieve effective muscle contraction were determined in slow and fast muscles in Sprague-Dawley rats. Stimulus patterns of our stimulator were designed to simulate electromyographic activity monitored during locomotion of normal subjects. Muscle types of the lower extremity were classified according to their mechanical property of contraction, which are slow muscle (msoleus m.) and fast muscle (medial gastrocneminus m., rectus femoris m., vastus lateralis m.). Optimal parameters of electrical stimulation for slow muscles were 20 Hz, 0.2 ms square pulse. For fast muscle, 40 Hz, 0.3 ms square pulse was optimal to produce repeated contraction. Higher stimulus intensity was required when synergistic muscles were stimulated simultaneously than when they were stimulated individually. Electrical stimulation for each muscle was designed to generate bipedal locomotion, so that individual muscles alternate contraction and relaxation to simulate stance and swing phases. Portable electrical stimulator with 16 channels built in microprocessor was constructed and applied to paraplegic patients due to lumbar cord injury.
