KTX 운행현황을 고려한 고속선 레일 연마 기준 정립에 대한 연구 (Study on the Establishment of Rail Grinding Criteria of High-Speed Railway Lines Considering the KTX Operation Circumstances)

  • The importance of maintenance of rail surface defects is increasing more according to the KTX operation. That is because during high speed operation of rolling stock, rail surface defects may cause shortened fatigue life of rail, acceleration of track degradation and reduced ride comfort. The paper was intended to study the establishment of rail grinding criteria of high-speed railway lines considering the KTX operation circumstances. For this, the specimens of UIC 60 rail on Kyeong-Bu high-speed operation lines were collected and they were analyzed for metallographic structure and tested for the hardness. By analyzing the test results to the factors affecting the RCF causing the defects of rail surface, the study suggested the rail grinding criteria of the domestic high speed railway lines. As the factors affecting RCF, passing tonnage, running speed and track condition are considered.

  • We fabricated textured Ag substrates for coated conductor and evaluated the effects of annealing temperature on microstructural evolution, texture formation, and surface morphology. A strong {110}〈110〉 textured Ag substrate was obtained by cold rolling and annealing at 80$0^{\circ}C$: the full-width at half-maximum(FWHM) value of {110}〈110〉 poles was as sharp as 10$^{\circ}$. Surface morphology was evaluated by using Atomic force microscopy(AFM). Root-mean-square(RMS) roughness of the substrate annealed at 80$0^{\circ}C$ was 39.2 nm. The substrate of strong texture and smooth surface, fabricated in our study, is considered to be suitable for use as a substrate for deposition of superconductor films.

Nb이 첨가된 Ti합금의 미세 조직 및 산화 거동 (Effects of Nb Addition on Microstructure and Oxidation Behavior of Ti Alloy)

  • The oxidation behavior of Ti-Nb alloys was studied in dry atmosphere. After vacuum arc melting and hot rolling treatment, Ti-Nb alloys were oxidized at $450^{\circ}C$$750^{\circ}C$. The oxidation behaviors between matrix and oxide scale were analyzed by SEM, XPS and XRD. Ti-Nb alloys had higher oxidation resistance than pure Ti at $750^{\circ}C$. XPS analysis of oxide film revealed that $TiO_2$ oxide was formed on the top of surface. The weight gains during the oxidation increase rapidly at temperature above $600^{\circ}C$ which obey the parabolic law.

연삭기법을 이용한 패터닝 기술 (Grinding Technology for Surface Texturing)

  • Surface texturing is a machining process on the surface to give engineering functions. The representative process of the surface texturing is lotus effect to give hydrophobic property by the lithography and chemical etching, which is the bio mimic from the nature. Surface texturing can be manufactured by a lot of processes, in particular using mechanical method such as a precise diamond turning, grinding, rolling, embossing, vibrorolling, and abrasive jet machining (AJM). Among them, the grinding process is notable in terms of the wide range of texturing area and fast processing time. The patterning by grinding is done by the grooved grinding wheel on the work piece. In this case, the pattern shape is determined by the grinding conditions as well as the wheel dressing conditions. In this paper, experimental study on the pattern shapes were done and provide the feasibility in use for the large area patterning.

Application of the Murakami Approach for Prediction of Surface Fatigue of Cemented Carbides

  • The aim of present work is to link geometrical parameter of maximum area of structural defect $\sqrt{area}\;_{max}$ (proposed by Y. Murakami, 1983) with surface fatigue mechanisms. Determined relations allow making predictions of surface fatigue properties of cemented carbides (WC-Co hardmetal - H15 - 85wt% WC and 15wt %Co, TiC-based cermets - T60/8 - 60wt %TiC and Fe/8wt% Ni and T70/14 - 70wt %TiC and Fe/14wt% Ni) in conditions of rolling contact and impact cycling loading. Pores considered being equivalent to small defects. Three comparative defects conditions are distinguished: surface pore, just below free surface and interior pores. The Vickers hardness of binder (as main responsible for the fracture mechanism of hardmetal and cermets) assumed to be the basis of such assumption. The estimate of this prediction has been done by analyzing the pore sizes using the statistics of extremes. The lower bound of fatigue properties can be correctly predicted by considering the maximum occurring pore size.

컨테이너 철도차륜의 안전성 평가에 관한 연구 (A Study on Safety Estimation of Railroad Wheel)

  • 철도차량의 고속화가 가속화되면서 화물을 운송하던 컨테이너 차량이 차륜의 파손에 의하여 탈선하는 사고가 발생하여 많은 물적 피해가 발생하고 있으며, 이러한 철도차량의 사고는 많은 인명 피해와 물적 피해를 가져오는 대형 사고로 발전할 수 있다. 따라서 이에 대한 재발 방지를 위한 차륜의 파손 해석에 대한 연구가 필요한 실정이다. 철도차량의 차륜은 기계적 하중과 열하중를 동시에 받으며, 기계적 하중으로는 철도차량의 무게에 의한 수직하중과 곡선 구간을 운행할 때 차륜과 레일의 접촉부에 수평하중이 발생하며, 철도차량의 제동시 답면제동에 의한 반복적인 열하중을 받는다. 이러한 차륜에 발생하는 기계적 하중과 열하중은 차륜의 균열과 잔류응력 등을 발생시키는 것으로 알려져 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 차량 주행 시의 브레이크 이력과 하중 조건을 고려한 열 구조 연성해석을 수행하여 차륜에 부하되는 최대응력을 추정하였으며, 이 값을 파괴역학 파라미터인 응력확대계수에 적용하여 차륜의 안전성을 평가하였다.

A Study on Lubricative Characteristics of Negative Pressure Slider

  • The lubricative characteristics of negative pressure slider were performed by using coordinate transform method. Governing equation is derived by applying generalized coordinate system to the divergence formulation method. This method makes it possible to deal with an arbitrary configuration of a lubricated surface. The pressure profile of the slider is calculated. These results are compared to that from direct numerical method. The steady-state, including minimum film thickness, pitching and rolling angle are calculated by multi-dimensional Newton-Rapshon method. The stiffness and damping characteristics are also calculated.

Herschel-Bulkley 모델을 이용한 그리스 열탄성유체윤활 문제의 수치해석 (A numerical analysis of grease thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication problem using Herschel-Bulkley model)

  • Grease thermal elastohydrodynamic lubrication (TEHL) problems of line contacts are analyzed numerically. The effects of temperature and rheological paraineters on grease TEHL are investigated using the Herschel-Bulkley model as a theological model of greases. The pressure distribution, the shape of grease film, mean film temperature and surface temperature of solid wall in line contacts are obtained. It is found that thermal effects on the minimum film thickness become remarkable at high rolling speeds. The effect of yield stress of Herschel-Bulkley model on minimum film thickness is negligible, while the theological index and viscosity parameter have significant effects on minimum film thickness.

  • Platelets arrest bleeding and repair damaged blood vessels. The purpose of this paper is to formulate a mathematical model for the control of platelet adhesion within the vasculature consistent with experimental findings, particularly those of Frenette, Ruggeri , Savage, Yuan, Lawrence and Springer.   • The research was conducted for the purpose of examining the dynamic characteristics of train wheel at the running state and preventing the vibrations of the high speed railway. The stress at the boundary surface of web and rim, .sigma./sub c/, was analyzed in consideration of the uniform In-plane compressive stress depending on the conditions of rolling and the rotation of train wheel. Then the equation of transverse vibration of the annular plate with the stepped thickness was analyzed by Rayleigh-Ritz's method.
