광양만권의 오존농도 특성과 시.공간적 분포 (On Characteristics of Surface Ozone Concentration and Temporal.Spatial Distribution in Kwangyang-Bay)

  • In order to understand the characteristics of surface ozone concentration and high $O_3$ concentration days, regional data from seven air quality monitoring stations which were operated by local governments were analyzed Regional characteristics of $O_3$ concentration were analyzed with the data of $O_3$ concentration and the characteristics of $O_3$ generation and weather conditions by the selection of the days in which the concentration was higher than 80 ppb. In the case of daily variation, the lowest $O_3$ concentration was shown in all regions from 7am to 8am and the highest around at 4 pm. The monthly variation of mean $O_3$ concentration and ${\Delta}O_3$ values revealed a reducing pattern in July and August following the peak in June, and again a gradual increasing trend in September and October. The result shows that the amount of ozone is dependent on photochemical reaction. The days of $O_3$ generated more than 80 ppb in the region of Gwangyang-bay were 544 days(1,760 hrs). The frequency of occurrence in the region revealed a strong pattern with the order of Samil-dong, Jinsang, and Gwangmu-dong stations in the Gwangyang region. However, Tein-dong, which is the nearest station to air pollution material generation source, showed the lowest frequency in the study area. Consequently, the meteorological parameters which can easily generate the high concentration of $O_3$ in the region of Gwangyang-bay are characterized as follows; atmospheric temperature which is higher than $19^{\circ}C$, relative humidity with the range of $60{\sim}85%$, the less average wind velocity than 5 m/s, cloud cover which is less than 5/10, and the more duration of sunshine than 8 hours.

초순수내에서의 오존의 용해도와 세정효과 (The Solubility of Ozone in Deionized Water and its Cleaning Efficiency)

  • 본 연구는 반도체 공정중 습식세정시 사용되는 초순수내에서의 오존의 거동과 오존이 주입된 초순수와 실리콘 웨이퍼와의 반응성에 대해 연구하였다. 초순수내 오존의 용해도는 주입되는 오존의 농도와 초순수의 온도가 낮을수록 증가하였고 주입되는 오존의 농도에 정비례하여 증가하였다. 초순수내 오존의 반감기는 초순수내 오존의 용해농도와 초순수의온도가 낮을수록 증가함을 나타내었고 반응차수는 약 1.5로 계산되었다. 초순수의산화환원전위(redox potential)값은 오존 주입시 5분 이내에 포화되어 일정한 값을 나타내었고 주입되는 오존의 농도가 증가함에 따라 약간 증가하였다. HF처리된 실리콘 웨이퍼는 오존이 2ppm 이상 용해된 초순수에서 세정하였을 때 1분 이내에 접촉각이 $10^{\circ}$미만의 친수성 표면을 형성하였고 piranha 세정액($H_2SO_4$$H_2O_2$의 혼합액)에 의해 형성된 자연산화막보다 오존이 주입된 초순수에 의해 형성된 산화막이 약간 더 두꺼움을 Spectroscopic Ellip-someter에 의해 관찰하였다. 오존의 농도가 1.5ppm에서 90초내에 계면활성제로 오염된 실리콘 웨이퍼를 piranha용액과 오존이 함유된 황산 그리고 오존이 함유된 초순수에서 세정시 오존이 함유된 초순수가 가장 탁월한 오염제거능력을 나타내었다.

Simple Forecasting of Surface Ozone through a Statistical Approach

  • Objectives: Ozone ($O_3$) advisories are issued by provincial/prefectural and city governments in Korea and Japan when oxidant concentrations exceed the criteria of the related country. Advisories issued only after exposure to high $O_3$ concentrations cannot be considered ideal measures. Forecasts of $O_3$ would be more beneficial to citizens' health and daily life than real-time advisories. The present study was undertaken to present a simplified forecasting model that can predict surface $O_3$ concentrations for the afternoon of the day of the forecast. Methods: For the construction of a simple and practical model, a multivariate regression model was applied. The monitored data on gases and climate variables from Japan's air quality networks that were recorded over nearly one year starting from April 2016 were applied as the subject for our model. Results: A well-known inverse correlation between $NO_2$ and $O_3$ was confirmed by the monitored data for Iksan, Korea and Fukuoka, Japan. Typical time fluctuations for $O_3$ and $NO_x$ were also found. Our model suggests that insolation is the most influential factor in determining the concentration of $O_3$. $CH_4$ also plays a major role in our model. It was possible to visually check for the fit of a theoretical distribution to the observed data by examining the probability-probability (P-P) scatter plot. The goodness of fit of the model in this study was also successfully validated through a comparison (r=0.8, p<0.05) of the measured and predicted $O_3$ concentrations. Conclusions: The advantage of our model is that it is capable of immediate forecasting of surface $O_3$ for the afternoon of the day from the routinely measured values of the precursor and meteorological parameters. Although a comparison to other approaches for $O_3$ forecasting was not carried out, the model suggested in this study would be very helpful for the citizens of Korea and Japan, especially during the $O_3$ season from May to June.

  • Solar energy is attenuated by absorbing gases (ozone, aerosol, water vapour and mixed gas) and cloud in the atmosphere. And these are measured with solar instruments (pyranometer, phyheliometer). However, solar energy is insufficient to represent detailed energy distribution, because the distributions of instruments are limited on spatial. If input data of solar radiation model is accurate, the solar energy reaches at the surface can be calculated accurately. Recently a variety of satellite measurements are available to TERA/AQUA (MODIS), AURA (OMI) and geostationary satellites (GMS-5, GOES-9, MTSAT-1R, MTSAT-2 and COMS). Input data of solar radiation model can be used aerosols and surface albedo of MODIS, total ozone amount of OMI and cloud fraction of meteorological geostationary satellite. The solar energy reaches to the surface is calculated hourly by solar radiation model and those are accumulated monthly and annual. And these results are verified the spatial distribution and validated with ground observations.

동아시아지역의 CMAQ 대류권 오존 모의에 화학적 측면 경계조건이 미치는 효과 (The Effect of the Chemical Lateral Boundary Conditions on CMAQ Simulations of Tropospheric Ozone for East Asia)

  • The goal of this study is to investigate the effects of the chemical lateral boundary conditions (CLBCs) on Community Multi-scale Air Quality (CMAQ) simulations of tropospheric ozone for East Asia. We developed linking tool to produce CLBCs of CMAQ from Goddard Earth Observing System-Chemistry (GEOS-Chem) as a global chemistry model. We examined two CLBCs: the fixed CLBC in CMAQ (CLBC-CMAQ) and the CLBC from GEOS-Chem (CLBC-GEOS). The ozone fields by CMAQ simulation with these two CLBCs were compared to Tropospheric Emission Spectrometer (TES) satellite data, ozonesonde and surface measurements for May and August in 2008. The results with CLBC-GOES showed a better tropospheric ozone prediction than that with CLBC-CMAQ. The CLBC-GEOS simulation led to the increase in tropospheric ozone concentrations throughout the model domain, due to be influenced high ozone concentrations of upper troposphere and near inflow western and northern boundaries. Statistical evaluations also showed that the CLBC-GEOS case had better results of both the index of Agreement (IOA) and mean normalized bias. In the case of IOA, the CLBC-GEOS simulation was improved about 0.3 compared to CLBC-CMAQ due to the better predictions for high ozone concentrations in upper troposphere.

탄소섬유의 오존처리가 나일론6 기지 복합재료의 크랙저항에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Crack Resistance Properties of Ozone-treated Carbon Fibers-reinforced Nylon-6 Matrix Composites)

  • 본 실험에서는 탄소섬유의 오존처리가 탄소섬유 강화 나일론6 매트릭스 복합 재료의 기계적 계면 특성에 미치는 영향을 관찰하였다. 오존처리는 농도에 따라 각각 30 min씩 처리하였으며, 오존처리된 탄소섬유의 표면 특성은 적외선 분광법(Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy; FT-IR)과 X선 광전자 분광법(X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy; XPS)으로 측정하였다. 기계적 계면 물성은 임계응력 세기 인자(Critical stress intensity factor; $K_{IC}$)를 통하여 알아보았으며, 파단실험 후 파단면은 주사전자현미경을 통해 관찰하였다. 실험결과, 탄소섬유를 오존처리함에 따라 탄소섬유 표면의 $O_{1s}/C_{1s}$ 비율이 증가하였고, 이는 탄소섬유 표면의 산소관능기 발달에 따른 것으로 보여진다. 또한, 오존처리된 탄소섬유 강화 복합재료는 미처리된 탄소섬유강화 복합재료보다 높은 $K_{IC}$와 값을 보여주었다. 이러한 결과는 탄소섬유의 오존처리가 탄소섬유와 나일론6 기지 사이의 계면결합력의 증대를 유도하여 복합재료의 기계적 계면강도가 증가된 것으로 판단된다.

입력가스의 유량변화와 첨가가스에 따른 고농도 오존발생특성 (High Concentration Ozone Generation Characteristics by Variation of Additional Gases and Flow Rates of Inlet Gas)

  • 고농도의 오존발생에 영향을 주는 많은 변수들이 존재한다. 이러한 변수들은 오존발생장치 설계시 매우 중요한 요소가 되고 설계전에 반드시 고려되어야 할 것들이다. 오존발생장치 설계 후에도 고농도 오존발생에 크게 영향을 주는 주변변수들이 있다. 본 연구에서는 오존발생에 영향을 주는 많은 주변변수들중에서 입력산소가스의 유량과 여기에 첨가되는 첨가가스가 고농도의 오존발생에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 결과적으로, 입력산소가스의 유량을0.75[LPM]~2.00[LPM]으로 변화시키면서 오존농도를 측정한 결과 1.25[LPM]에서 71145[ppm]의 최대오존발생량을 보여주었다. 입력산소가스에 첨가되는 질소가스의 유량을 0.0[vol%]~6.4[vol%]으로 변화시켜가면서 발생되는 오존농도를 측정한 결과 첨가되는 질소가스량이 0.8[vol%]인 경우 최대 73135[ppm]의 오존을 얻을 수 있었다. 이것은 순수산소만을 입력가스로 사용했을 때보다 최대오존발생량이 3[%]가량 증가한 결과이다. 입력산소가스에 첨가되는 아르곤가스의 유량을 0.0[vol%]~6.4[vol%]으로 변화시켜가면서 발생되는 오존농도를 측정한 결과 첨가되는 아르곤가스량이 0.8[vol%]인 경우 최대 67288[ppm]의 오존을 얻을 수 있었다.

Nd:YAG 레이저를 이용한 PDMS 표면개질 (Surface Modification of Polydimethylsiloxane using Nd:YAG Laser)

  • Nd:YAG($\lambda$=266 nm, pulse) laser beam was irradiated on the PDMS surface to improve its chemical reaction, wettability, adhesive property. The various surface modification methods of PDMS were already studied using oxygen plasma, ozone and corona discharge. The surface modification using laser has the advantage of the simple experiment that only directly irradiated laser beam on the PDMS surface in the air. After the laser treatment, the PDMS surface was investigated using a contact angle measuring instrument. The contact angle was decreased with a increase of the surface oxygen content. In conclusion, the wettability of PDMS surface was improved by the laser treatment without changing of its bulk characteristics.

플라즈마 리액터 및 오존분해 촉매를 이용한 메탄올 및 에탄올로부터 수소발생특성 (Characteristics of Hydrogen Production from Methanol and Ethanol Using Plasma Reactor and Ozone Decomposition Catalyst)

  • In this work, the effect of the initial concentration of methanol and ethanol, and the addition of oxygen molecules were discussed to improve the hydrogen generation using non-thermal plasma reactor effectively. In addition, the effect of ozone decomposition catalyst of manganese dioxide and its quantity was investigated. First, hydrogen concentration increased until an initial concentration of about 40,000[ppm] of methanol and thereafter it was saturated. Henceforth, hydrogen concentration decreased with increasing the oxygen percent on the carrier gas of nitrogen about both substances. Related with the effect of catalyst, it increased upto 60[g], but it was not changed largely after that. Consequently, it is confirmed that the hybrid process using plasma process and catalytic surface chemical reaction is a very promising way to increase the efficiency of hydrogen generation as investigated in this work.
