We have extended the three-dimensional (3-D) resistivity imaging algorithm to cover the 3-D resistivity tomography problem, where resistivity data are acquired using electrodes installed in several boreholes as well as at the earth surface. The imaging algorithm consists of the 3-D finite element forward modeling and least-squares inversion scheme, where the ACB (Active Constraint Balancing) is adopted to enhance the resolving power of the inversion. Sensitivity analysis with numerical verifications shows that 3-D resistivity tomography is a very appealing method and can be used to get 3-D attitude of subsurface structures with very high-resolution. Moreover, we could accurately handle the topography effect, which could cause artifacts in the resistivity tomography. In the application of 3-D resistivity tomography to the real field data set acquired at the quarry mine, we could derive a very reasonable and accurate image of the subsurface.

Self-potential (SP) is sensitive to groundwater flow and there are many causes to generate SP. Among many mechanisms of SP, pore-fluid flow in porous media can generate potential without any external current source, which is referred to as electrokinetic potential or streaming potential. When calculating SP responses on the surface due to geothermal fluid within an engineered geothermal system (EGS) reservoir, SP anomaly is usually considered to be generated by fluid injection or production within the reservoir. However, SP anomaly can also result from geothermal water fluid within EGS reservoirs experiencing temperature changes between injection and production wells. For more precise simulation of SP responses, we developed an algorithm being able to take account of SP anomalies produced by not only water injection and production but also the fluid of geothermal water, based on three-dimensional finite-element-method employing tetrahedron elements; the developed algorithm can simulate electrical potential responses by both point source and volume source. After verifying the developed algorithm, we assumed a simple geothermal reservoir model and analyzed SP responses caused by geothermal water injection and production. We are going to further analyze SP responses for geothermal water in the presence of water production and injection, considering temperature distribution and geothermal water flow in the following research.

The objective of this paper is to study the structural behavior of Composite Basement Wall (CBW) according to shear span-to-depth ratio through an experiment and predict the nonlinear behavior of CBW by using ADINA program widely has been being used for FE analysis. Especially, this study focuses on the part of CBW in which the Reinforced Concrete (RC) is under compression stress; At the region of CBW around each floor, RC part stresses by compressive force when lateral press by soil acts on the wall. The contact condition between RC wall and steel (H-Pile) including stud connector is main factor in the analysis since it governs overall structural behavior. In order to understand the structural behavior of CBW whose RC part is under compressive stress, an experimental work and finite element analysis were performed. Main parameter in the test is shear span-to-depth ratio. For simplicity in analysis, reinforcements were not modeled as a seperated element but idealized as smeared to concrete. All elements were modeled to have bi-linear relation of material properties. Three type of contact conditions such as All Generate Option (AGO), Same Element Group Option with Tie(SEGO-T) and Same Element Group Option with Not tie(SEGO-NT) were considered in the analysis. For each analysis, the stress flow and concentration were reviewed and analysis result was compared to test one. From the test result, CBW represented ductile behavior by contribution of steel member even if it had short shear span-to-depth ration which is close to "1". The global composite behavior of CBW whose concrete wall was under compressive stress could be predicted by using contact element in ADINA program. Especially, the modeling by using AGO and SEGO-T showed more close relation on comparing with test result.
The purpose of this study is to provide the thermal comfort range according to the residential style and clothing level at radiant floor heating space, and compare the annual energy consumption and energy cost for each condition. Lower neutral point temperature has been stood for floor sitting style than chair sitting style, which appears that the thermal sensation was affected by local heat transfer between floor surface and the human body. The result of research indicates that neutral point temperature was in inverse proportion with the clothing level. It is interpreted that the increasing of clothing level results decrement of heat loss from human body, and is available to achieve same thermal comfort at lower room temperature. It was analyzed that the floor sitting style is more economical residential style than the chair sitting style, because the energy consumption of the floor sitting style is saved by 6.0% in average to compare with that of the chair sitting style. It is analyzed that energy consumption has been decreased by 13.5% with the clothing level of 1.2 Clo than with that of 1.0 Clo, and decreased by 18.0% than with that of 0.8 Clo, which explains that the energy saving can be achieved with the variation in life habit to increase the clothing level.
Indigenous bacterium which shows a tolerance to high metal toxicity was isolated from soil concomitantly contaminated with oil and heavy metals. The characteristics of the bacterium for Pb and Cd biosorption was investigated under the various experimental conditions such as bacterial growth phase, the initial metal concentration, the input biomass amount, temperature and pH. The Langmuir adsorption isotherm modeling was described to know the capacity and intensity of biosorption. The low initial concentration of heavy metals and high biomass has a maximum heavy metal removal efficiency, but biosorption capacity of Pb and Cd has different values. Biosorption efficiency was highest in the end of the microbial growth stage and under pH 5~9 condition, but was less affected by temperature variation of 25~$35^{\circ}C$. The maximum biosorption capacity for Pb and Cd was 62.11 and 192.31 mg/g, respectively and each $R^2$ was calculated as 0.71 and 0.98 by applying Langmuir isothermal adsorption equation. Biosorption for Cd was considered as monomolecular adsorption to single layer on the surface of cells, whereas biosorption for Pb was considered as accumulation process into the cell by the microbial metabolism and precipitation reaction with anion of bacteria.

The partitioning of evapotranspiration (ET) into evaporation (E) and transpiration (T) is critical in understanding the water cycle and the couplings between the cycles of energy, water, and carbon. In forests, the total ET measured above the canopy consists of T from both overstory and understory vegetation, and E from soil and the intercepted precipitation. To quantify their relative contributions, we have measured ET from the floors of deciduous and coniferous forests in Gwangneung using eddy covariance technique from 1 June 2008 to 31 May 2009. Due to smaller eddies that contribute to turbulent transfer near the ground, we performed a spectrum analysis and found that the errors associated with sensor separation were <10%. The annual sum of the understory ET was 59 mm (16% of total ET) in the deciduous forest and 43 mm (~7%) in the coniferous forest. Overall, the understory ET was not negligible except during the summer season when the plant area index was near its maximum. In both forest canopies, the decoupling factor ($\Omega$) was about ~0.15, indicating that the understory ET was controlled mainly by vapor pressure deficit and soil moisture content. The differences in the understory ET between the two forest canopies were due to different environmental conditions within the canopies, particularly the contrasting air humidity and soil water content. The non-negligible understory ET in the Gwangneung forests suggests that the dual source or multi-level models are required for the interpretation and modeling of surface exchange of mass and energy in these forests.
The artificial rains having different pH and weathering simulation test were performed for Gyeongju Namsan granite and dacitic tuff to predict the role of acid rain in the deterioration of stone monuments located in Gyeongju area. The pH 4.0 rain reacted with the fresh granite showed near neutral pH at the early stage due to the hydrolysis of minerals in the rock surface. But the pH changed back to the initial pH in the later stage. On the other hand, the pH 5.6 rain showed the neutral pH for a longer time than the experiment with pH 4.0 rain, reflecting slower reaction of minerals due to the weaker acidity. When the pH 5.6 rain reacted with the weathered granite, the water showed neutral pH longer than the case of the fresh granite. The similar tendencies were observed in the experiment of dacitic tuff, except that the pH 4.0 rain reacted with dacitic tuff took a longer time to go back to the initial pH as compared with the case of granite. These results may due to the differences in mineral composition and texture of two rocks. Dacitic tuff contains more fine-grained or glassy groundmass than granite and is more reactive with weaker acid rain. It was predicted that the weight loss and strength decrease rate of dacitic tuff would be approximatetly twice relative to those of granite in the same experimental environment.

In this paper, we applied coupled non-isothermal, multiphase fluid flow and geomechanical numerical modeling using TOUGH-FLAC coupled analysis to study the complex thermodynamic and geomechanical performance of underground lined rock caverns (LRC) for compressed air energy storage (CAES). Mechanical stress in concrete linings as well as pressure and temperature within a storage cavern were examined during initial and long-term operation of the storage cavern for CAES. Our geomechanical analysis showed that effective stresses could decrease due to air penetration pressure, and tangential tensile stress could develop in the linings as a result of the air pressure exerted on the inner surface of the lining, which would result in tensile fracturing. According to the simulation in which the tensile tangential stresses resulted in radial cracks, increment of linings' permeability and air leakage though the linings, tensile fracturing occurred at the top and at the side wall of the cavern, and the permeability could increase to $5.0{\times}10^{-13}m^2$ from initially prescribed $10{\times}10^{-20}m^2$. However, this air leakage was minor (about 0.02% of the daily air injection rate) and did not significantly impact the overall storage pressure that was kept constant thanks to sufficiently air tight surrounding rocks, which supports the validity of the concrete-lined underground caverns for CAES.
This paper presents the results of study of linear oscillating electric machine; Cartesian, cylindrical type with permanent magnet, flux reversal, cylindrical reluctance, and transverse flux type. The focus of the work is the suggestion of the characteristics and design process of propose topology, respectively. First of all, there are five types of the proposed to this study on the basis of the existing literatures; Cartesian type, cylindrical type, flux reversal type, cylindrical reluctance type, and transverse flux type. All topology is achieved using equivalent magnetic circuit considering leakage elements as initial modeling. Cartesian type is investigated by number of phases and number of pole pairs using optimal process. A cylindrical type is described by number of phases and displacement of stroke. The flux reversal type is proposed based on the symmetrical and non symmetrical stator cores of the surface mounted PMs mover, and non slanted PMs and slanted PMs of the flux concentrating PMs mover. A cylindrical reluctance type is studied by the shape of mover teeth in geometric aspect to reduce force ripple and increase magnetic flux. A transverse flux type is considered by dividing the transverse flux electric excited and the transverse flux permanent magnet excited. It is significant that the study gives a design rules and features of linear oscillating electric machine.
Due to the 4th Industrial Revolution and the Digital Revolution, many changes are being made in the manufacturing method and structure in the field of plastic arts and crafts. Therefore, in this study, we tried to present a new work method suitable for this era by effectively utilizing the digital technology called 3D printer. For this study, first of all, the theoretical background of 3D printing technology was understood, and prior studies on the use cases of 3D printing technology were summarized. Based on this, three types of craft molds were produced using a 3D printer. As a result of the study, there were characteristics that appear respectively depending on the thickness or overlapping of the craft molds using 3D printing technology. First, in the case of the thickness of the craft molds, the thinner the strength, the weaker the strength, but there was an advantage in that it was easier to take out the contents of the molds. However, it was determined that the thick craft molds was stable to contain the dense and heavy material. Second, in the case of overlapping of craft molds, the advantages of both thin and thick molds were obtained as a result of using a double-layered molds. However, there was a disadvantage that the surface of the contents taken out was not smooth, so that post-processing was necessary. In future research, I hope to deal with the material of the filament used in 3D printers.
