The seasonal distribution and migration of flying squid, Ommastrephes bartrami (LeSueur), in the North Pacific were studied by means of mantle length, surface temperature, and catch and effort data of the Korean drift gillnet fishery from 1980 to 1983. The water temperature for the best fishing ranged from $15^{\circ}\;to\;16^{\circ}C$ in May through July and from $13^{\circ}\;to\;18^{\circ}C$ in August through January. High densities of flying squid were found in the thermal fronts with $18^{\circ}C$ isotherm in August and with $15^{\circ}C$ isotherm in September. The densities of flying squid were higher in the western region than in the eastern region in the North Pacific. The high densities of flying squid in the northwestern Pacific were attributed to the high gradients of oceanographic properties in the region. Migration models for flying squid were hypothesized based on the monthly distributions of catch per unit net, mantle length compositions by statistical blocks, and the hydrographic features of the North Pacific. The large flying squid moved to the northern region and to the central Pacific region earlier than the small sized group in the northward migration period (from June to August). Flying squid begin the reverse southward migration from the Subarctic Frontal Zone in autumn with onset of cooling and the development of Oyashio Current. The large sized group starts their southward return migration from more northern waters than the small sized group but the former moves past the later ana reaches the spawing ground first.
Several lines of evidence suggest that osteocytes play a critical role in bone remodeling. Both healthy and apoptotic osteocytes can send signals to other bone surface cells such as osteoblasts, osteoclasts, osteoclast precursors, and bone lining cells through canalicular networks. Osteocytes responding to mechanical strain may also send signals to other cells. To determine the role for osteocytes an mechanical strain in bone remodeling, we examined the effects of fluid flow shear stress on osteoclast precursor cell and osteoblast proliferation and recruitment induced by osteocytes. In addition, the effects of fluid flow shear stress on osteocyte M-CSF, RANKL, and OPG mRNA expression were also examined. MLO-Y4 cells were used as an in vitro model for osteocytes, RAW 264.7 cells and MOCP-5 cells as osteoclast precursors, and 2T3 cells as osteoblasts. MLO-Y4 cells conditioned medium (Y4-CM) was collected after 24h culture. For fluid flow experiments, MLO-Y4 cells were exposed to 2h of pulsatile fluid flow (PFF) at 2, 4, 8, $16{\pm}0.6\;dynes/cm^2$ using the Flexcell $Streamer^{TM}$ system. For proliferation assays, MOCP-5, RAW 264.7, and 2T3 cells were cultured with control media or 10-100% Y4 CM. Cells were cultured for 3d, and then cells were counted. RAW 264.7 and 2T3 cell migration was assayed using transwells with control media or 10-100% Y4-CM. M-CSF, RANKL and OPG in MLO-Y4 mRNA expression was determined by semiquantitative RT-PCR. Y4-CM increased osteoclast precursor proliferation and migration, but decreased 2T3 cell proliferation and migration. CM from MLO-Y4 cells exposed to PFF caused decreased RAW 267.4 cell proliferation and migration and 2T3 migration compared to control Y4-CM. However, Y4-CM from cells exposed to PFF had no effect on 2T3 osteoblastic cell proliferation. PFF decreased RNAKL mRNA and increased OPG mRNA in MLO-Y4 cells compared to control(without PFF). PFF had no effect on M-CSF mRNA expression in MLO-Y4 cells. These results suggest that osteocytes can regulate bone remodeling by communication with osteoclast precursors and osteoblasts and that osteocytes can communicate mechanical signals to other cells.
The migrating level of di-(2-ethylhexyl) adipate (DEHA) in PVC wrap to various foodstuffs dishes was determined using acetone/n-hexane as an extracting solvent. The recovery ratio of DEHA from various foodstuffs ranged from 81.3 to 91.2%. During storage at $10\;or\;20^{\circ}C$ for up to 3 days, highest migration of 22.9 mg/kg occurred with pork belly, an indication that increases in fat content, storage temperature, and storage time result in increasing DEHA migration. DEHA concentrations of various delivered dishes ranged between 6.9 and 29.8 mg/kg, and highest migration was observed in Chambbong, which had the highest fat content among samples. After microwave-reheating, which resulted in a tight contact between film and food samples, DEHA was not detected in rice and potato, whereas up to 158.8 mg/kg was detected in pizza. When the wrap film was not contacted with the surface of food, the migration was lowered. Migration levels of DEHA from PVC wrap film into samples under various exposure conditions often exceeded the limit value of $3\;mg/dm^2\;and/or\;18\;mg/kg$ set by the European Union.
The permeability is the most direct indicator to reflect the durability of concrete, and the testing methods based on external electric field can be used to evaluate concrete permeability rapidly. This study aims to use an experiment method to accurately predict the permeability of concrete box beam during service. The ion migration experiments and concrete surface resistivity are measured to evaluate permeability of five concrete box beams, and the relations between these results in service concrete and electric flux after 6 hours by ASTM C1202 in the laboratory are analyzed. The chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete, concrete surface resistivity and concrete 6 hours charge have good correlation relationship, which denote that the chloride diffusion coefficient and the surface resistivity of concrete are effective for evaluating the durability of concrete structures. The chloride diffusion coefficient of concrete is directly evaluated permeability of concrete box beam in service and may be used to predict the service life, which is fit to engineering applications and the concrete box beam is non-destructive. The concrete surface resistivity is easier available than the chloride diffusion coefficient, but it is directly not used to calculate the service life. Therefore the mathematical relation of the concrete surface resistivity and the concrete chloride diffusion coefficient need to be found, which the service life of reinforced concrete is obtained by the concrete surface resistivity.
The surface gloss of the injection molded part is one of the most significant point for evaluation the quality of products appearance. The effects of molding condition on the gloss of HIPS(High Impact Poly Styrene) molded part were investigated in this work. The measurements of gloss on the surface of molded part were carried out with different melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure and holding pressure. We observed the result of HIPS gloss compared with our's previous ABS study. The more melt and mold temperature increased, the brighter the gloss increase. Holding and injection pressure had little effect on the gloss. The gloss was effected in order of melt temperature, mold temperature, injection pressure, holding pressure.

Ionized cluster beam deposition (ICBD) technique has been employed to fabricate high-purity crystalline polyimide (PI) film. The pyromellitic dianhydride (PMDA) and oxydianiline (ODA) were deposited using dual ICB sources, Fourier trans forminfraredspectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray photoemission spectroscopy (XPS), and Transmission electron microscopy (TEM)study show that the bulk and surface chemical properties and the crystalline structure are very sensitive to the ICBD conditions such as cluster ion acceleration voltage and ionization voltage, At optimum ICBD conditions, the PI films have a maximum imidization, negligible impurities(∼1% isoimide), and a good crystalline structure probably due to the high surface migration energy and surface cleaning effect. These characteristics are superior to those of films deposited by other techniques such as colvent cast, vapowr deposition, or sputtering techniques.

This research was intended to evaluate the effect of carboxymethylcellulose(CMC) on the coating structure and surface strength of coated paper prepared with amphoteric latex based coating color. Printability and optical properties of coated papers were compared. The influence of the consolidation behavior of coating color on the coating structure and the surface strength of coated paper was investigated. Compared with the conventional anionic latex, amphoteric latex formed bulkyer, smoother and more porous coating layer, which in turn, restricted binder migration in the coating layers, and facilitated immobilization of coating colors. However, dry pick strength of coated paper was decreased. The addition of CMC to these systems had strongly influenced on. the consolidation behavior and porosity in the dry state, through forming the network structure of coating layers by the interaction with amphoteric latex particles. Thus, printability and optical properties of coated papers were improved. Results indicated that amphoteric latex could be practically applied to the paper coating to improve printability and optical properties of coated papers.

Nanocellulose was surface-functionalized toward the applications in enhanced oil recovery (EOR) as a green alternative. The focus of this paper is on the effect of this material based nanofluid (NF) on foam lamella stabilization through studying its bubble breakup dynamics and flow behaviors in constricted mircofluidic devices. The NF stabilized foam produced an improved flow resistance across the capillary largely due to the capillary trapped bubbles at the contraction. The "snap-off" caused the NF stabilized foam to produce finer textured bubbles, which can migrate readily forward to the deep porous media, as revealed by the pressure profiles.

The effect of implanted nitrogen and carbon ion into SUS 304 on the absorption of hydrogen by cathodic chaging were studied. Implantations of $N^+$, $C^+$ were performed with doses of $3\times10^{17}$ ions $\textrm{cm}^2$ and $5\times10^{17}N^+cm^2$, and $5\times10^{17}C^+cm^2$, at an energy of 90 keV. Nitrides and carbide were investigatedby X-ray diffraction, Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) and scanning electron microscope (SEM). Formation of hydrides during cathodic charging were depressed by a modified surface layer. It is concluded that the both nitrides and carbides act as the barrier of hydrogen migration and the catalyst of desorption of cathodically charged hydrogen.
