  • Because the generally reported radiation impedance has been calculated for vibrating surface with infinite baffle, the results have difficulties to apply for design of the real transducers with finite baffle. In this paper, with assuming a vibrating surface as a set of small point sources, a new calculation method for the vibrating surface with finite baffle is suggested by considering the effect of finite baffle on the source strength of each point source. As an example, the variation of self-radiation impedance for rectangular vibrating surface is calculated according to the size of baffle. The results show that the suggested method is useful.

  • The electrochemical behavior of glassy carbon and PVDF synthesis graphite materials with compact surface have been characterized by impedance spectroscopy. The Faraday-impedance both carbon materials were depended highly on polarization and the difference of electrochemical behavior accord to structure of surface between glassy carbon and synthesis graphite was represented, in these evaluated equivalent circuits, PVDF synthesis graphite was indicated with form that is added resistance and capacitance by the hydrophobic binder to glassy carbon equivalent circuit.

  • The anodic dissolution behavior of copper and brass in an electrolyte solution of 0.5M NaCl containing 0.5 mM $NaHCO_3$ was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The Nyquist plots of the copper impedance described a small loop in the high-frequency range and a large locus in the low-frequency range. Additionally, the features of the impedance spectrum of the brass were similar to those of the copper. This indicates that the copper-enriched layer formed on the brass surface due to the selective dissolution of the zinc from the surface. In addition, the rest potential and the anodic polarization curve for each sample were measured in order to discuss the selective dissolution of the zinc from the brass surface.

  • The electrochemical behavior of oxide layers on aluminium was studied using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Impedance spectra were taken at a compact and a porous oxide layer of Al. The anodic films on Al have a variable stoichiometry with gradual reduction of oxygen deficiency towards the oxide-electrolyte interface. Thus, the interpretation of impedance spectra for oxide layers is complicated, with the impedance of surface layers differing from those of ideal capacitors. This layer behavior with conductance gradients was caused by an inhomogeneous dielectric. The frequency response cannot be described by a single RC element. The oxide layers of Al are properly described by the Young model of dielectric constant with a vertical decay of conductivity.

  • In this work, impedance Spectroscopic analysis was applied to study the effect of plasma treatment on the surface of indium-tin oxide (ITO) anodes using $CF_4g$ as and to model the equivalent circuit for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) with the $CF_4$ plasma treatment of ITO surface at the anodes. This device with ITO/TPD/$Alq_3$/LiF/Al structure can be modeled as a simple combination of a resistor and a capacitor. The $CF_4$ plasma treatment on the surface of ITO shifts the vacuum level of the ITO as a result of which the barrier height for hole injection at the ITO/organic interface is reduced. The Impedance spectroscopy measurement of the devices with the $CF_4$ plasma treatment on the surface of ITO anodes shows change of values in parallel resistance ($R_p$) and parallel capacitance ($C_p$).

  • Vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFBs) have been investigated for their potential utility as large energy storage systems due to their advantageous performances in terms of long cycle life, high energy efficiency, low cost, and flexible design. Carbon materials are typically used as electrodes in redox reactions and as a liquid electrolyte support. The activities, surface areas, and surface morphologies of porous carbon materials must be optimized to increase the redox flow battery performance. Here, to reduce the resistance in VRFBs, surface-modified carbon felt electrodes were fabricated, and their structural, morphological, and chemical properties were characterized. The surface-modified carbon felt electrode improved the cycling energy efficiencies in the VRFBs, from 65% to 73%, due to the improved wettability with electrolyte. From the results of impedances analysis with proposed fitting model, the electrolyte-coupled polarization in VRFB dramatically decreased upon modification of carbon felt electrode surface. It is also demonstrated that the compressibility of carbon felt electrodes was important to the VRFB polarization, which are concerned with mass transfer polarization. The impedance analysis will be helpful for obtaining better and longer-lived VRFB performances.

  • Quartz crystal in contact with viscoelastic medium was described directly in terms of the electrical equivalent circuit of the system. Stearic acid was used as viscoelastic medium and deposited on the surface of quartz crystal using the Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) method. Impedance properties of quartz crystal coated with LB films which were investigated by using admittance diagram and $Ζ-\theta$ plot a method of impedance analysis. When stearic acid LB film was deposited on the surface of quartz crystal, resonant frequency of quartz crystal was changed about 100 Hz/layer. This result illustrates the ability of the sensor system to detect small amounts of special gas in air.

  • The relationship between eddy current response and case hardening depth has been studied on SM40C(KS D-3752) and SCM440(KS D-3711) steels which were surface hardened by high frequency induction hardening. The results obtained in this study were as follows ; 1) Case hardening depth was successfully measured by observing the eddy current impedance changes of each steel. The impedance decreased linearly with increasing case hardening depth. 2) For large impedance gradient between the hardened surface and core metal, the eddy current response was more sensitive to case hardening depth than for low impedance gradient.
