Latest advancement in field of fluid dynamics has taken nanofluid under consideration which shows large thermal conductance and enlarges property of heat transformation in fluids. Motivated by this, the key aim of the current investigation scrutinizes the influence of thermal radiation and magnetohydrodynamic on the laminar flow of an incompressible two-dimensional Williamson nanofluid over an inclined surface in the presence of motile microorganism. In addition, the impact of heat absorption/generation and Arrhenius activation energy is also examined. A mathematical modeled is developed which stimulate the physical flow problem. By using the compatible similarities, we transfer the governing PDEs into ODEs. The analytic approach based on Homotopy analysis method is introduced to impose the analytic solution by using Mathematica software. The impacts of distinct pertinent variable on velocity profiles are investigated through graphs.

This study investigated a mechanism for controlling the shape of Cu nanocrystals fabricated using the polyol process, which considers the thermodynamic transition from a facetted surface to a rough surface and the growth mechanisms of nanocrystals with facetted or rough surfaces. The facetted surfaces were stable at relatively low temperatures due to the low entropy of perfectly facetted surfaces. Nanocrystals fabricated using a coordinative surfactant stabilized the facetted surface at a higher temperature than those fabricated using a non-coordinative surfactant. The growth rate of the surface under a given driving force was dependent on the surface structure, i.e., facetted or rough, and the growth of a facetted surface was a thermally activated process. Surface twins decreased the activation energy for growth of the facetted surface and resulted in rod- or wire-shaped nanocrystals
NO adsorption can be used in synthesizing oxynitride thin films which have potential application in nanodevices. However, it is very difficult to understand the oxynitridation Process since too many factors are involved in it. In this paper, we present our first-principles molecular dynamics calculation of the NO molecule adsorption on the Si(001) surface as the initial stage of the oxynitridation process. The previous first-principles calculation has argued the NO molecule is dissociated with a very small activation barrier, 0.07eV, which acutally corresponds to 1.60eV considering thermodynamics. This is in clear contrast to the observation that NO is dissociated at temperatures as low as 20K From extensive searches of NO on the Si(001) surface, we have found the new dissociation processes that have the much lower activation energies, less than 0.01 eV. We also present the dissociation and penetration processes with the corresponding activation energies and discuss their experimental implications.
Results from in-situ high temperature X-ray diffraction measurements show that $Mg_{2}SiO_{4}{-}$spinel converts back to olivine phase only when heated in vacuum, and that at some high temperature, the olivine phase grows with time at the expense of the spinel phase strongly suggesting a 'nucleation and growth' type transition. In order to obtain the activation energy of spinel-olivine back transformation, kinetics measurements were performed on $Mg_{2}SiO_{4}{-}$spinel in vacuum at high temperatures between 1023 and 1116 K. Activation energy was determined using 'time to a given fraction method'. By employing the Avrami equation, it was found that n values generally increase with increasing temperature in a wide range implying that the nucleation and growth mechanism is probably temperature-dependent. It is likely that in spinel, at a relatively lower transformation temperature, after nucleation sites saturated, the growth of the new phase starts on the surface and gradually moves inwards. At high temperatures, however, after nucleation sites saturated, the growth starts both on the surface as well as at the interior.
Using a cation exchange resin of polystyrene-DVB copolymer as a carbon source for the production of activated carbon, the effects of operating parameters on the physical properties of activated carbon such as specific surface area and specific pore volume were experimentally studied. In carbonization process specific surface area and specific pore volume of carbonized product decreased with the increase of carbonization temperature and time. They were proportional to activation temperature and time up to the specific temperature and time in activation process. In carbonization process the increase of heating rate gave negative effect to the properties. The properties of activated product, on the contrary, increased with the heating rate in carbonization process. The properties of activated carbon manufactured with the resin exchanged with divalent cations were lower than those with raw resin.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the two different types of chairs on trapezius muscle activation during dictation tasks. Seventeen university students, each of whom were within ${\pm}1$ standard deviation of the mean Korean standard body size, voluntarily participated in this study. Surface electromyography was used to collect electrical signals from both the upper and lower trapezius muscles. Amplitude Probability Distribution Function (APDF) was performed to analyze the muscle activity. The findings of this study were 1) The backrest-point height of the auditorium chair and the height, length and width of the connected desk were shorter than what was suggested by the KS. Another difference was that the auditorium chair had a bigger angle of the backrest compared to the classroom chair. 2) Regarding within-subject effect the sole statistically significant difference was found between activation of the upper trapezius muscle. The upper trapezius muscle's %RVC in the APDF 10th-50th-90th percentile was statistically higher for participants sitting in the auditorium chair than for participants sitting in the classroom chair (p<.05). 3) There was an interaction effect between the 'two chair-types' and the 'two muscle-sides' in the APDF 10th-50th percentile (p<.05). 4) There was an interaction effect between the 'two chair-types' and the 'three gaze-direction' in the APDF 90th percentile (p<.05). The findings of this study indicated that maintaining a writing posture for a prolonged period of time in an auditorium chair significantly increased the left upper trapezius muscle activation compared to a classroom chair.

Background To overcome the potential drawbacks of a short half-life and dose-related adverse effects of using active transforming growth factor-beta 1 for cartilage engineering, a cell-mediated latent growth factor activation strategy was developed incorporating latent transforming growth factor-${\beta}$1 (LTGF) into an electrospun poly(L-lactide) scaffold. Methods The electrospun scaffold was surface modified with NH3 plasma and biofunctionalised with LTGF to produce both random and orientated biofunctionalised electrospun scaffolds. Scaffold surface chemical analysis and growth factor bioavailability assays were performed. In vitro biocompatibility and human nasal chondrocyte gene expression with these biofunctionalised electrospun scaffold templates were assessed. In vivo chondrogenic activity and chondrocyte gene expression were evaluated in athymic rats. Results Chemical analysis demonstrated that LTGF anchored to the scaffolds was available for enzymatic, chemical and cell activation. The biofunctionalised scaffolds were non-toxic. Gene expression suggested chondrocyte re-differentiation after 14 days in culture. By 6 weeks, the implanted biofunctionalised scaffolds had induced highly passaged chondrocytes to re-express Col2A1 and produce type II collagen. Conclusions We have demonstrated a proof of concept for cell-mediated activation of anchored growth factors using a novel biofunctionalised scaffold in cartilage engineering. This presents a platform for development of protein delivery systems and for tissue engineering.
If $CO_2$ stored for geological sequestration escapes from deep formations and is introduced to shallow aquifers, it dissolves into groundwater, creates acidic environments, and enhance mineral dissolution from rocks and soils. Among these minerals, dissolution and spread of hazardous trace metals can cause environmental problems with detrimental impacts on groundwater quality. This study aims to investigate geochemical effects of $CO_2$ in groundwater on dissolution of galena, the main mineral controlling the mobility of lead. A series of batch experiments are performed with granulated galena in $CO_2$ solutions under various experimental conditions for $CO_2$ concentration and reaction temperature. Results show that dissolution of galena is significantly enhanced under acidic environments so that both of equilibrium concentrations and dissolution rates of lead increase. For thermodynamic analysis on galena dissolution, the apparent rate constants and the activation energy for galena dissolution are calculated by applying rate law to experimental results. The apparent rate constants are $6.71{\times}10^{-8}mol/l{\cdot}sec$ at $15^{\circ}C$, $1.77{\times}10^{-7}mol/l{\cdot}sec$ at $25^{\circ}C$, $3.97{\times}10^{-7}mol/l{\cdot}sec$ at $35^{\circ}C$ and the activation energy is 63.68 kJ/mol. The galena dissolution is suggested to be a chemically controlled surface reaction, and the rate determining step is the dissociation of Pb-S bond of surface complex.

This experiment intends to study Zn-coating weight through galvanixing process. A through examination has been carried out on the change of steel-composition, galvanizing-temperature, dipping-rime, Fe-loss when other factors were regular. Activation energy needed for Fe-loss was obtained and within this sample, the best condition which has influence on coating weight was found so as to reduce Fe-loss. As Fe-loss was diminidhed, the amount of product of Dross and Zn-using amount per total products could be reduced. The results of experiments are as follow. 1. Zn-coating thickness was increased by the rising Zn-bathtemperature and was the maximum at 8-minutes dipping time. 2. The coating weight was greatly influency by Si. As in other samples, the proportion of increasing was very rate after 20minutes. If the dipping time prolonged, the increasing amounts of Fe-loss are more greatly. 3. Activation Energy needed for Fe-loss was as follows Such numerical values were most equal to those of the activation energy which had influences on the growth of ${\gamma}$-phase. Sample - I = 18,500 Cal/mole Sample - III = 22,000 Cal/mole Sample - V = 42,300 Cal/mole

Objective: Single leg bridge exercise (SLBE) improves trunk muscle activation and provides muscle stability by aligning joints related to posture. This preliminary study aimed to investigate the effects of SLBE on abdominal muscle activation in subacute stroke patients. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: Fifteen subacute stroke patients (9 males, 6 females) voluntarily participated in this study. SLBE was performed on the affected side. Each individual patient performed an SLBE ten times in three sets and was asked to hold their position for 5 s. Muscles activity was recorded using a surface electromyography (EMG) system before and after the SLBE. A surface EMG system was used to analyze the muscle activity during general bridge exercise, including the rectus abdominis (RA), internal oblique (IO), and external oblique (EO) abdominal muscles. Results: Muscle activity of both EO and IO on the affected side significantly increased (p<0.05), whereas the muscle activity of the RA and the three muscles on the unaffected side did not show a significant difference. In addition, improvement in muscle asymmetry of the EO and IO showed a significant change after SLBE (p<0.05). Conclusions: SLBE is effective in activating the abdominal muscles of stroke patients on the affected side and is a helpful exercise intervention that activates the muscles to transform asymmetric abdominal muscles into symmetric patterns.
