  • The development processes of a L-band microwave radiometer for remote sensing of water surface salinity are described in this paper. Achieving the development aim of the measurement accuracy within 2 psu for water surface salinity of 0~40 psu, the requirements and specifications of the microwave radiometer and its receiver are drawn. The receiver with high gain, high sensitivity is designed and implemented to satisfy these requirements and specifications. The receiver has the bandwidth of 45 MHz, the system gain of 47 dB and the sensitivity of 0.41 K at 1,390 MHz. The effectiveness of the developed L-band microwave radiometer for remote sensing of water surface salinity is demonstrated experimentally. The results show the microwave radiometer can detect water surface salinity for 10~28 psu within the accuracy of 1.4 psu.

  • Rolling noises during train operation are caused by vibration excited from irregularities of surface roughness between wheel and rail. Therefore, a proper measurement and analysis techniques of acoustic roughness between wheel and rail surface are required for transmission, prediction, and analysis of the train rolling noise. However, since current measuring devices and methods use trolley-based manual handling devices, the measurements induce unstable measuring speed and vibrational interface that increases errors and disturbances. In this paper, a new automatic rail surface exploring platform with a speed controller has been developed for improving measurement accuracy and reducing inconsistency of measurements. In addition, we propose a data integration method of the rail surface roughness with multiple homogeneous displacement sensors and verified the accuracy of the integrated data through standard test-bed railway track investigation.

  • Yangon Mega City is densely populated and most urbanization area of Myanmar. Rapid urbanization is the main causes of Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) change and they impact on Land Surface Temperature (LST). The objectives of this study were to investigate on the LST with respect to LULC of Yangon Mega City. For this research, Landsat satellite images of 1996, 2006 and 2014 of Yangon Area were used. Supervised classification with the region of interest and calculated change detection. Ground check points used 348 points for accuracy assessment. The overall accuracy indicated 89.94 percent. The result of this paper, the vegetation area decreased from $1061.08sq\;km^2$ (24.5%) in 1996 to $483.53sq\;km^2$ (11.2%) in 2014 and built up area clearly increased from $485.33sq\;km^2$ (11.2%) in 1996 to $1435.72sq\;km^2$ (33.1%) in 2014. Although the land surface temperature was higher in built up area and bare land, lower value in cultivated land, vegetation and water area. The results of the image processing pointed out that land surface temperature increased from $23^{\circ}C$, $26^{\circ}C$ and $27^{\circ}C$ to $36^{\circ}C$, $42^{\circ}C$ and $43.3^{\circ}C$ for three periods. The findings of this paper revealed a notable changes of land use and land cover and land surface temperature for the future heat management of sustainable urban planning for Yangon Mega city. The relationship of regression experienced between LULC and LST can be found gradually stronger from 0.8323 in 1996, 0.8929 in 2006 and 0.9424 in 2014 respectively.

  • The distribution of magnetic flux density of electro-magnetic chucks may clarify the clamping characteristics, which is strongly related to the machining efficiency and machining accuracy in surface grinding machine. Therefore the distribution of the normal and the tangential components of magnetic flux density have been analyzed theoretically. It appears that the normal component of magnetic flux density increases and the tangential component of magnetic flux density increases as the ratio of the separator width to the pitch, e/p decreases. The results seem to increase the stability and uniformity of normal component of magnetic flux density for the decreased e/p.

  • High-speed machining is one of the most effective technology to improve productivity. Because of the high speed and high feed rate, high-speed machining can give great advantages for the machining of dies and molds. This paper describes on the improvement of machining accuracy in high-speed machining and an estimate about machining accuracy of high-speed machining.

  • This paper presents photogrammetric processing to generate digital elevation models and deals with the accuracy potential of SPOT-5 HRG supermode imagery for DEM generation. The DEMs obtained from digital topographic maps of 1/5000 scale were used as the refernce DEM data. DEMs extracted from HRG dats were compared with digital topograpic map DEMs on severed test sections. And digital surface model(DSM), refering to above the ground like buildings, was produced about the test built-up area.

  • Scanning white-light interferometry is an important measurement option for many surfaces. However, serious profile measurement errors can be present when measuring free-form surfaces being highly curved or tilted. When the object surface slope is not zero, the object and reference rays are no longer common path and optical aberrations impact the measurement. Aberrations mainly occur at the beam splitter in the interference objective and from misalignment in the optical system. Both effects distort the white-light interference signal when the surface slope is not zero. In this paper, we describe a modified version of white-light interferometry for eliminating these measurement errors and improving the accuracy of white-light interferometry. Moreover, we report systematic errors that are caused by optical aberrations when the object is not flat, and compare our proposed method with the conventional processing algorithm using the random ball test.

  • Blu-ray Disk, the next generation optical information storing equipment used Blu-ray is the next generation leading storing equipment that has capacity is about from six times to thirty-five times bigger than the existing CDs, DVDs. Especially, we need elaborate optical pick-Up equipment to record and recognize detailed date. Moreover, Blu-ray disk has so narrow track-pitch so it is used high NA(Numerical Aperture) aspheric glass objective lens. In this research, we processed optical pick-up aspheric glass objective lens molding press core by parallel grinding method with ultra precision machining and mold core surface measured form accuracy(PV), surface roughness(Ra).
