  • This study was investigated a possibility of fault of glass insulator due to vibration on high-speed railway. The proper vibration of 1-glass insulator have many frequency band and high amplitude showed in high frequency than low frequency. The proper vibration of strut tube insulator was lowest 170Hz, highest 1.5kHz. The field signal amplitude of viaduct and open route were biggest moment pantograph of high-speed rail. The surface vibration(V3) amplitude of strut tube insulator was biggest. From the FFT analysis of viaduct and open route, the strut tube insulator effect by vertical vibration was big, the frequency was 82.5Hz and 105Hz, respectively. However, in comparison with the proper vibration of strut tube insulator, the resonance was not observed. Although the amplitude of insulator is high, the possibility of fault is low because the glass insulator deterioration by the accumulation of vibration do not happen.

Factors Controlling the Deposition of Airborne Metals on Plant Leaves in a Subtropical Industrial Environment

  • This study was conducted in an industrial city (Bilaspur) representative of subtropical area in central India. In order to assess the metal deposition on plant, concentrations of six target metals (i.e., Fe, Mn, Pb, Cu, Cd, and Cr) in both plant leaf and dust (deposited on its surface) samples were measured from six different sites. Metal concentrations in dust samples were found on the order of Fe>Mn> Cr>Pb>Cu>Cd. In contrast, the concentration of metals in plant leaves were seen on the order of Fe>Mn>Cr>Cd>Cu>Pb. As such, Cd showed significantly high concentration in leaves relative to their corresponding dust samples. A high accumulation potential for Fe and Cd was seen from Butea monosperma, while Mn and Pb were accumulated noticeably in Pongamia pinnata and Butea monosperma. Likewise, Cr and Cu were enriched in Calotropis procera, Alstonia scholaris, and Butea monosperma. The overall results of our study suggest that the foliar uptake pattern should vary considerably by an interactive role between plant and metal types.

  • The cladding materials remaining after reprocessing process of the nuclear fuel, generally called as hulls, are classified as a high-level radioactive waste. They are usually packaged in the container for disposal after being compacted, melted, or solidified into the matrix. The efforts to fabricate a better ingot for a more favorable disposal to the environment have failed due to the technical difficulties encountered in the chemical decontamination method. In the early 1990s, the accumulation of radio-chemical data on hulls and the advent of new technology such as a laser or plasma have made the pre-treatment of the hulls more efficient. This paper summarizes the information regarding the radio-chemical analysis of the hull through a literature survey and determines the characteristics of the hull and depth profile of the radio-nuclides within the hull thickness. The feasibility study was carried out to evaluate the reduction of the radioactivity by peeling off the surface of the hull with the application of laser technology.

팔당호 연안대 초지생태계에서 낙엽 구성성분의 유실률 III.인 (The Removal Rates of the Constituents of Litters in the Littoral Grassland Ecosystems in the Lake Paldangho III.Phosphorus)

  • To estimate removal rate of phosphorus in aquatic grassland ecosystems of Paldangho, this investigation was conducted along with the coast of a lake. The experimental results may be summarized on communities of Typha angustata, Miscanthus sacchriflorus Phragmites communis and Scirpus tabernaemontani as follows. The annual production of phosphorus for the litters in T. angustata, M saccharsflorus, P. cam-munis and S. taiernaemontani grasslands were 10.252 g /$m^2$, 3.833 g /$m^2$, , 2.656 g /$m^2$, and 5.210 g /$m^2$, respectively. The ratio of annual production of P accumulated on surface soils in a steady state provides estimates of the removal rate r, The estimated removal rates r of P were 0.58, 0.78, 0.68 and 0.59 in T. angustata, M. sacchariflorus, P. communis and S. tabernaemontani grasslands re- spectively. The removal and accumulation of 50, 95 and of 99% of its steady state level, the estimates for P of T. angustata were 1.195, 5.173 and 8.623 years, in M. sacchariflorus were 0.880, 3.842, and 6.403 years, and in P. cammunis were 1.014, 4.390, and 7.316 years respectively, In S. tabernaemontani grassland required period were 1.178,5.099 and 8.500. 터널 애자류 오염도 분석과 세정주기 선정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Selection of Cleaning Period and Pollution Analysis of Insulators in Tunnel)

  • 본 연구는 터널구간 내 설치된 각종 애자류의 오염도를 평가하여 각 터널구간마다 세정주기를 마련하기 위해 연구를 수행하였다. 세정주기는 전국의 각 지역을 대상으로 공해, 산업단지, 염해지역을 샘플링하여 애자류에 부착된 오염도에 의해 평가되었다. 그 결과, 오염물의 증가에 의해 포집량과 도전율은 증가하였고, 각 터널마다 그 값은 서로 다르게 나타났다. 특히, 공해 및 염해가 심한 지역은 도전율이 높게 나타났으며, 주기적인 세정계획을 수립하여 관리하는 것이 사고를 미연에 방지할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다. 또한 기존에 애자 표면에 도포하는 절연그리스는 사용을 자제하는 것이 장기적으로 사고를 방지할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Enhanced Biofuel Production from High-Concentration Bioethanol Wastewater by a Newly Isolated Heterotrophic Microalga, Chlorella vulgaris LAM-Q

  • Microalgal biofuel production from wastewater has economic and environmental advantages. This article investigates the lipid production from high chemical oxygen demand (COD) bioethanol wastewater without dilution or additional nutrients, using a newly isolated heterotrophic microalga, Chlorella vulgaris LAM-Q. To enhance lipid accumulation, the combined effects of important operational parameters were studied via response surface methodology. The optimal conditions were found to be temperature of $22.8^{\circ}C$, initial pH of 6.7, and inoculum density of $1.2{\times}10^8cells/ml$. Under these conditions, the lipid productivity reached 195.96 mg/l/d, which was markedly higher than previously reported values in similar systems. According to the fatty acid composition, the obtained lipids were suitable feedstock for biodiesel production. Meanwhile, 61.40% of COD, 51.24% of total nitrogen, and 58.76% of total phosphorus were removed from the bioethanol wastewater during microalgal growth. In addition, 19.17% of the energy contained in the wastewater was transferred to the microalgal biomass in the fermentation process. These findings suggest that C. vulgaris LAM-Q can efficiently produce lipids from high-concentration bioethanol wastewater, and simultaneously performs wastewater treatment.

플라즈마 화학 기상 증착법으로 제작된 Diamond-Like Carbon 박막의 특성 (Characterizations of Diamond-Like Carbon Films Prepared by the Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition Method)

  • Diamond-like carbon (DLC) films have been prepared by means of the plasma enhanced chemical vapor deposition (PECVD) method using vertical-capacitor electrodes. The deposition rata in our experiment is relatively small compared with that in the conventional PECVD methods, which implies that the accumulation of the neutral $CH_n$ radicals on the substrates due to the gravitational movement may not contribute to the deposition of DLC films. The hardness and the transparency were measured as a function of the ratio of the partial pressure of $CH_4-H_2$ mixtures or the hydrogen contents of specimens. The coefficients of friction between DLC films and a $Si_3N_4$ tip measured by using a lateral force microscope are in the range of 0.024 to 0.033 which depend on the hydrogen contents in DLC, and the surface roughness depends mainly on the deposition rate. The optical gaps increase with increasing the hydrogen contents. DCL films deposited on Pt-coated Si wafers show the stable emission characteristics, and the turn-on fields are in the range of 11 to 20 $V/\mu$m.

  • The purpose of this research was to understand possibility of foodwaste treatment by hybrid anaerobic reactor(HAR). The Possibility of methane utility and applicability of hybrid reactor system using foodwaste as substrate was investigated. The maximum loading rate and optimized operational conditions were determined. Hybrid anaerobic reactor was filled with packing material 50% of its total volume between the tube and the outer surface. The packing material used was randomly packed open-pore synthesis activated ceramic(SAC) media as support media for microbial attachment, growth, and chemical stability protected bacteria from effect of organic acid accumulation. In this research, although foodwaste has high concentrations C $l^{[-10]}$ and S $O_{4}$$^{2-}$ concentration the possibility of foodwaste anaerobic treatment was when foodwaste is treated by anaerobic digestion, this study focused on the possibility using C $H_4$ gas made under the anaerobic treatment as an alternative energy source. Other objective of this research is to study struvite formation and crystal forms in anaerobic digester. HAR is used to investigate phosphate crystallization without the addition of chemicals.

핀-관 열교환기에 대한 제상 거동에 관한 실험적 연구 (An experimental study of behavior of defrosting on the fin-tube heat exchanger)

  • In this study, the effects of the various conditions of frosting and defrosting on the behavior of defrosting in a fin-tube heat exchanger have been examined experimentally. The electric heater is used for defrosting in a fin-tube heat exchanger It is shown that there are several local maxima in the water draining rate. The amount of residual water on the heat exchanger after the completion of defrosting is kept constant due to surface tension on the heat exchanger. Without considering the degradation of the thermal performance due to the frosting, the defrosting efficiency is improved with increasing amount of the frost irrespective of the frosting condition. The defrosting behavior is affected by the frosting density as well as the frost accumulation, which vary with the experimental operating conditions during the frosting period. The heat loss to the surrounding air decreases, and the melting and defrosting efficiencies show high values with decreasing heat input.

  • Recently, the population growth, industrial and agricultural development are rapidly undergoing in the Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) in Texas. The Lower Rio Grande Valley (LRGV) composed of the 4 counties and three of them are interesting for Non-point and point source pollutant modeling: Starr, Cameron, and Hidalgo. Especially, the LRGV is an intensively irrigation region, and Texas A&M University Agriculture Program and the New Mexico State University College of Agriculture applied irrigation district program (Guy Fipps and Craig Pope, 1998), projects in GIS and Hydrology based agricultural water management systems and assessment of prioritized protecting stream network, water quality and rehabilitation based on water saving potential in Rio Grande River. In the LRGV region, where point and non-point sources of pollution may be a big concern, because increasing fertilizers and pesticides use and population cause. This project objective seeks to determine the accumulation of non-point and point source and discuss the main impacts of agriculture and environmental concern with water quality related to pesticides, fertilizer, and nutrients within LRGV region. The GIS technique is widely used and developed for the assessment of non-point source pollution in LRGV region. This project shows the losses in kg/$km^2$/year of BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand), TN (total Nitrogen) and TP (total phosphorus) in the runoff from the surface of LRGV.
