  • This paper presents a framework of a optimal supervisory controller, which consists of decision rules and the supervisory controller proposed by Ramadge and Wonham. From the presented framwork we obtain optimal control patterns minimizing the given cost functions. The properties of the presented optimal supervisory controller are discussed. Two examples are given to illustrate a designing method of the optimal supervisory controller.

  • In this paper, we discuss decentralized optimal fault tolerant supervisory control issues on the basis of failure analysis and diagnosis from the angle of discrete event dynamic system. We address the detectability and the observability problems, and develope fault tolerant supervisory control system upon the failure analysis and diagnosis schemes. A complete min-cut is introduced and the procedure for finding the achievable or nonachievable layered optimal legal sublanguages is suggested for a preferential option among the reachable states in the controlled plant. A layered optimal supervisory control framework is proposed upon these. We extend the concept of decentralized supervisory control by considering the problem of combination of decentralized with centralized control in case pure decentralized control happens to be inadequate. We introduce the concept of locally controllable pair and present a hybrid decentralized supervisory control framework. Finally, we propose the analytical framework for a decentralized optimal fault tolerant supervisory control systems.

  • The paper studies design of a decentralized supervisory controller with 2-level hierarchical structure for complex discrete event systems. Hierarchical structure with strict output-control-consistency(SOCC) gives a more abstract model for high-level control. The decentralized controller for a simple and abstract high-level system is designed more easily if the decentralized supervisory control problem in 2-level hierarchical structure systems(DSCP2) is solvable.

  • It is needed to robust control for D.C. servo motor according to industrial automation. However, when a motor has an effect of disturbance and variable load, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of the system. as a compensation way of solving this problem, in this paper, a expert supervisory control method for motor control system is presented. Expert supervisory controller is designed by error and error change, and nth control input is decided by the addition of (n-1)th control input and inference amount of increase or decrease. Control input of expert supervisory control is transmitted to input, and the disturbance effect decrease remarkable by control input. The robustness of D.C. servo motor using expert supervisory control is demonstrated by the computer simulation.

  • Supervisory control theory, which was first proposed by Ramadge and Wonahm, is a well-suited control theory for the control of complex systems such as semiconductor manufacturing systems, automobile manufacturing systems, and chemical processes because these are better modeled by discrete event models than by differential or difference equation models at higher levels of abstraction. Moreover, decentralized supervisory control is an efficient method for large complex systems according to the divide-and-conquer principle. Decentralized supervisors cannot observe the events those of which occur only within the other supervisors. Therefore decentralized supervisors can be designed according to supervisory control theory under partial observation. This paper presents a solution and a design procedure of supervisory control problem (SCP) for the case of decentralized control and SCP under partial observation (SCPPO). We apply the proposed design procedure to an experimental CIM Testbed. And we compare and analyze the designed decentralized supervisors and partially observed supervisors.

  • Robust control for feedback control system is needed according to the highest precision of industrial automation. However, when a feedback control system has an effect of disturbance, it is very difficult to guarantee the robustness of control system. As a compensation method solving this problem, in this paper, Hybrid control method of feedback and Differential Supervisory controller is presented. A Feedback Controller is operated as a main controller, A Differential Supervisory Controller is a controller which operates only when some undesirable phenomena occur, e. g., when the error hits the boundary of constraint set. The robust control function of Differential Supervisory Controller, as a assistant controller is operated when state is unstable by disturbance. it demonstrated by speed control of motor.

  • In this paper, neural network-supervisory control method is proposed to minimize the effect of system uncertainty by load change and disturbance in the PID control system. In the proposed method, PID controller performs main control action by performing control within constraint error. And neural network-supervisory controller performs control action when error reaches the boundary of constraint error. Combining neural network-supervisory controller to guarantee the stability into PID control system, the resulting PID control system is expected to show better performance in the system with load change and disturbance. Simulation applying PID controller and neural network-supervisory controller showed excellence of proposed method.

  • In this paper, a multi-processor-based supervisory control for automatic assembly system is presented. The proposed supervisory control is organized in terms of C-language and with structured and easily expandable characteristics. Also the controller is designed to possess diagnostic capability including self-diagnosis of processor module. The developed supervisory control has been shown to be very useful via a high speed automatic assembly system with vision capability.

  • The related industrial technologies are also being developed in medicine, education, the military, transportation, process management, security management and information technology industries due to a rapid progress in telecommunications technology. The supervisory remote control system is based upon telecommunications technology. The supervisory remote control systems are used in various ways such as city gas, water supply and drainage, environment, power, communication and device control fields. The supervisory remort control system became a solution with complex systems and important technologies in electricity, city gas filed that require safety management skills. The supervisory remote control system as a special technology has a lot of practical applications. In this paper, Let me examine the present status of remort control system applications and present development plans and alternatives in city-gas industrial technology.
