The authors report a posttraumatic syringomyelia in a 30-year-old man who has complained pain, weakness of upper arm and dissociation sensory loss since 2 months before. He was underwent by decompressive laminectomy from T12 to L1, reduction of encroached bony fragments, transpedicular screw fixation from T12 to L2 and posterolateral bony fusion due to burst fracture of L1 at other hospital 3 years ago. Preoperative spinal MRI was highly suggestive of wide-spread, multiseptated syringomyelia from C3 to thoracolumbar junction. We performed wide decompressive laminectomy from T10 to L2 and subarachnoid space reconstrucion composed of microdissection of meningeal fibrosis widely, iatrogenic meningocele formation with lefting the dura mater opened for treatment of spinal-spinal pressure dissociation. Clinical manifestations and radiological findings of the patient were improved after the operation. This technique was thought to be superior to shunting procedures in cases of wide-spread, multiseptated post-traumatic syringomyelia.

Cerebral aspergillosis is rare and usually misdiagnosed because its presentation is similar to that of a tumor. The correct diagnosis is usually made intra-operatively. Cerebral abscess with fungal infection is extremely rare and few cases have been reported, but it carries a poor prognosis. A 73 year-old man presented with decreased visual acuity and paresis of the right cranial nerve III. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) revealed a mass in the right cavernous sinus, extened to the anterior crainial fossa and the superior orbital fissure. During surgery, a well encapsulated pus pocket was found, and histopathological examination of the mass resulted in the diagnosis of aspergillosis. Despite appropriate anti-fungal treatment, the patient eventually died from fatal cerebral ischemic change and severe brain swelling. The correct diagnosis of cerebral aspergillosis can only be achieved by histopathological examination because clinical and radiological findings including MRI are not specific. Surgical intervention and antifungal therapy should be considered the optimal treatment. Early diagnosis and aggressive antifungal treatment provide good results.

How to maintain the optimal electric power generation mix is one of the important problems in electric power industry. The objective of this study is to develop a computer model which can be used to forecast the investment in power generation unit by the plant owners after restructuring of electric power industry. Restructuring of electric power industry will make difference in decision making process of investment in power generation unit. After Privatiazation of Power Industry, Gencos will think that profit is the most important factor among all others attracting the investment in the industry. Coal power generation is better than LNG CCGT in terms of profit. However, many studies show that LNG CCGT will be main electric power generation source because the rest of factors other than profit in LNG CCGT are superior than Coal power generation. The impacts of the various government policies can be analyzed using the computer model, thus the government can formulate effective policies for achieving the desired electric power generation mix.

Neutral sizing is required for linerboard to solve the troubles in strength and process caused by recycled raw materials. AKD sizing efficiency can be influenced by process condition like white water quality, fines retention and so on. Therefore, this study was aimed to evaluate sizing performance of general and fast cure type AKDs using process water obtained from linerboard mill. To evaluate effect of process water quality on AKD sizing, white water was diluted with tap water at the different dilution ratios and UKP slurry was sized using the prepared water. Also, effects of inorganic and organic ion material on sizing were examined. When white water was used for stock forming, UKP sheet showed very low sizing degree. Sizing degree of sheet was increased with increase of dilution ratio because water quality was improved. Especially anionic organic material had a greater influence on AKD sizing than inorganic material. When white water quality was deteriorated, fast cure type AKD showed superior sizing performance to general type AKD.

Primary hemangioperiycytoma is quite rare tumor of the lung and arising from pericyte in external layer of capillaries. Most cases are developed in 4th and 5th decade, are asymptomatic, and have malignant otential. On chest radiography, primary pulmonary hemangiopericytoma shows lobulated, well demarcated, homogeneous soft tissue density. Microscopically, it consisits of numerous vascular spaces of variable size and shape separated by aggregates of tightly packed oval to spindle-shaped cells. Treatment of choice is surgical excision. We report a case of primary pulmonary hemangiopericytoma in a 16-year-old man who had well demarcated homogeneous mass in the superior segment of left lower lobe, but had no symptom. He had undergone left lower lobectomy. He has been followed up for 8 months but has no sign of relapse or metastasis yet.

The natural high productivity of temperate coastal waters in Korea can be used in advantage to reduce the feed costs for the cage-cultured marine carnivorous fish species. By using the night-lights methods an alternative of supplementary feeding strategy can be offered to the cage farmers and maintain sound environmental conditions that could enhance maximum sustainable yields. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of night-lights which shown positive results on feeding and growth in sea cage cultured rockfish, Sebastes schlegeli. The study showed that for the water around overhead illuminated sea cage, higher zooplankton density was observed at night than during the daytime. Increased amounts of for-age, evidenced by stomach content analyses were observed in the early evening, but decreased amounts were observed in the morning and afternoon. That is, feeding activities of the fish were most intensive from midnight to dawn. In a three month feeding experiment, the results showed that night-lighted groups were superior to groups with the highest feeding efficient. This study suggested that the evidence that night-lights superimposed on only day-lights enhance growth of rockfish in sea cages during summer and winter, with timing of exposure affecting growth of juvenile fish. The capability to control the feeding behavior of marine life via manipulation and external stimuli could considerably benefit the advancement of sea cage aquaculture in coastal areas.

The granular cell tumor (GCT) occurs extremely rarely in the mediastinum. Few mediastinal GCT cases have been reported in Japan or other countries. Here, we report a case of a 24-year-old man with superior mediastinal GCT. The mass was located just above the aortic arch. It was firm, oval in shape, and well encapsulated. The tumor was removed completely with video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, but we had to resect the vagus nerve, which was already included in the tumor, along with the tumor. After the operation, the patient recovered without any specific complications except for a mild degree of hoarseness.

1) 224 strains were isolated from the accumulated soil and sewage samples flowing the waste of alcohol distillation, and among of them 2 strains of yeast were selected on the basis of their superior growth in the medium containing alcohol waste by shaking culture. 2) Morphological and physiological characteristics of the selected strains were investigated, and strain-73, strain-124 were identified Candida ciferrii, Candida brumptii by the manual of LODDER, respectively.

Descending nectorizing mediastinitis (DNM). represents a virulent form of mediastinal infection requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment to reduce the high morbidity mortality associated with this disease. Intr. avenous broad-spectrum antibiotic therapy alone is not efficient without adequate surgical drainage of the cervical and mediastinal collections, extensive debridement and excision of necrotic tissue, and wide mediastino-pleural irrigation. A 38-year-old man admitted via emergency room with painful left neck swelling and uncontrolled high fever. Chest computed tomogram showed left paratracheal abscess descending into the superior and anterior mediastinum. Transcervical mediastinal drainage was performed with 26 Fr. chest tube and left paratracheal drainage was performed with Penrose drain in urgency. Culture and sensitivity test grew Yeast. The drains removed via gradually shortening on day 39 after surgery.

We have studied on optical properties of advanced S-IPS with a fine pitch electrode and a new finger design. Transmittance of panel increases with decreasing of width and angle of finger electrode. In order to improve transmittance, fine pitch electrode of ${\sim}2{\mu}m$ and rubbing angle of 10 degree have been adopted. Various optical performances are defined as the function of finger design and field intensify across the IPS pixel electrodes. We have developed the advanced electrode structures with a high performance. As a result, the optical properties of 42" full HD with 120Hz frequency shows high transmittance over 5%, contrast ratio of 1800:1, gray-to-gray response time of 4.4ms, respectively. And also we have studied that the moving picture quality of IPS LCD is related with design parameters of IPS cells and finger shape.
