Effects on Refrigerant Maldistribution on the Performance of Evaporator

  • An experimental investigation was made to study two-phase flow distribution in a T-type distributor of slit fin-and-tube heat exchanger using R-22. Experiments were carried out under the conditions of saturation temperature of $5^{\circ}C$ and mass flow rate varying from 0.6 to 1.2kg/min. The inlet air has dry bulb temperature of $27^{\circ}C$, relative humidity of 50% and air velocity varying from 0.63 to 1.71m/s. A comparison was made between the predictions from the previously proposed tube-by-tube method and the present experimental data for the heat transfer rate of evaporator. Results show that $82.5\%$ increase of air velocity is needed for T-type distributor with four outlet branches than that of two outlet branches under the superheat of $5^{\circ}C$, which resulted in increasing of air-side pressure drop of $130\%$ for the former as compared to the latter.

자동차 공조용 응축기의 열전달특성에 관한 수치적 연구 (Numerical study on the heat transfer characteristics of the condenser for the car air-conditioners)

  • This paper contains a verification of simulation program to predict the capacity of a condenser used in car air-conditioners. Verification of simulation program is carried out with the comparison error between experiment and simulation bounds within 3.5%. The present investigation shows the results for heat transfer rates of condenser under different operating conditions, such as velocity and degree of superheat. The range of front velocity of air is 1∼5m/s. As the front velocity is increased, the heat transfer rate of condenser is largely increased at a low velocity range. In a meanwhile, heat transfer rate of condenser is almost constant in a range of velocity over 3m/s. As for the effect of inlet pressure of refrigerant on the heat transfer rate, we obtained the similar trend of heat transfer rates as like varying the front velocity, Also we have calculated the heat transfer rates with varying inlet superheats of refrigerant, the larger the superheat is, the more heat transfer rate is obtained.

  • Recently, production and use of freon substances are restrained due to depletion of ozone layer and global warming. In this aspect of environmental problems, the best solution is to use the natural refrigerant such as ammonia. Thus, this study is to find the optimal operating conditions by comparing the performance between the shell and tube type and shell and disk type heat exchangers using the ammonia refrigerant, and to verify the superiority of the shell and disk type heat exchanger that is not used in field of refrigeration and air conditioning. Finally, this study shows that the shell and disk type heat exchanger is applicable to the ammonia refrigeration system, and this system minimizes the refrigerant charge and installation space.

  • 화학적, 전기적 안정성을 가진 FC-72 냉매를 사용하여 매끈한 표면과 마이크로 핀 표면 사이의풀 비등 열전달 성능을 평가하기 위한 실험을 수행하였다. 폭과 높이의 치수가 $100{\mu}m\;{\times}\;10{\mu}m$, $150{\mu}m\;{\times}\;10{\mu}m$ and $200{\mu}m\;{\times}\;10{\mu}m$인 세 종류의 마이크로 핀을 실리콘 칩 표면 위에 가공하였다. 실험은 5, 10 and 15 K의 액체 과냉도에서 이루어졌다. 세 종류의 마이크로 핀 중에서 핀 폭이 $200{\mu}m$인 핀 표면에서 풀 비등 열전달 성능이 더 좋게 나타났다. 또한, 마이크로 핀 표면은 매끈한 표면과 비교했을 때 벽면 과열도가 증가함에 따라 열유속이 급격히 증가하였으며, 열전달도 향상되었다.

  • This experimental study presents the results of the cooling performance test of a $CO_2$ heat pump system for fuel cell vehicles. The experimental facility provides the cool ing and heating environment for cabin and heat releasing component. The test loop is designed to target the cooling capacity of 5kW and its coefficient of performance (COP) of 2.2. The cooling performance of the heat pump system is strongly dependent on the refrigerant charge and the degree of superheat. We carried out basic experiments to obtain optimum refrigerant charge and the degree of superheat level at the internal heat exchanger outlet. The heat pump system for fuel cell vehicles is different from that of engine-driven vehicles, where the former has an electricity-driven compressor and the latter has the belt-driven (engine-driven) compressor. In the fuel cell vehicle, the compressor speed is an independent operating parameter and it is controlled to meet the cooling/heating loads. Experiments were carried out at cooling mode with respect to the compressor speed and the incoming outdoor air speed. The results obtained in this study can provide the fundamental cool ing performance data using the $CO_2$ heat pump system for fuel cell vehicles.

  • 본 논문은 에어컨시스템의 효율과 안정도에 영향을 주는 과열도와 저압을 제어하기 위한 다중 퍼지제어기 설계를 소개한다. 시스템 에어컨은 압축기 응축기 및 여러 대의 증발기와 확장 밸브로 구성되며, 냉매의 상태가 달라지면 시스템 전반적으로 그 영향이 파급되어 제어가 쉽지 않다. 이에 3대의 확장밸브와 1대의 압축기에서 동시에 과열도와 저압을 효과적으로 제어하는 다중 퍼지제어기를 설계한다. 제안된 퍼지 제어기는 연속형 간략추론 방식과 이산형 lookup_table 방식을 사용하고, 실수코딩 유전자 알고리즘(GAs)을 이용하여 최적의 퍼지제어기의 환산계수를 구한다. 그리고 기존 방식의 결과와 연속형 간략추론 방식 및 이산형 lookup_table 방식의 시뮬레이션 결과를 성능관점에서 상호 비교한다.

환상유로에 있어서 수직고온관의 과도적 냉각과정에 관한 연구 (A study on the transient cooling process of a vertical-high temperature tube in an annular flow channel)

  • In the case of boiling on high temperature wall, vapor film covers fully or parcially the surface. This phenomenon, film boiling or transition boiling, is very important in the surface heat treatment of metal, design of cryogenic heat exchanger and emergency cooling of nuclear reactor. Mainly supposed hydraulic-thermal accidents in nuclear reactor are LCCA (Loss of Coolant Accident) and PCM (Power-Cooling Mismatch). Recently, world-wide studies on reflooding of high temperature rod bundles after the occurrence of the above accidents focus attention on wall temperature history and required time in transient cooling process, wall superheat at rewet point, heat flux-wall superheat relationship beyond the transition boiling region, and two-phase flow state near the surface. It is considered that the further systematical study in this field will be in need in spite of the previous results in ref. (2), (3), (4). The paper is the study about the fast transient cooling process following the wall temperature excursion under the CHF (Critical Heat Flux) condition in a forced convective subcooled boiling system. The test section is a vertically arranged concentric annulus of 800 mm long and 10 mm hydraulic diameter. The inner tube, SUS 304 of 400 mm long, 8 mm I.D, and 7 mm O.D., is heated uniformly by the low voltage AC power. The wall temperature measurements were performed at the axial distance from the inlet of the heating tube, z=390 mm. 6 chromel- alumel thermocouples of 76 .mu.m were press fitted to the inner surface of the heating tube periphery. To investigate the heat transfer characteristics during the fast transient cooling process, the outer surface (fluid side) temperature and the surface heat flux are computed from the measured inner surface temperature history by means of a numerical method for inverse problems of transient heat conduction. Present cooling (boiling) curve is sufficiently compared with the previous results.
