  • The sulfidation behaviour of Fe-XAl-0.3Y(X=5, 10, 14, 25 $wt.\%$) alloys was investigated at 1123 K in $H_2/H_{2}S$ gas atmosphere for $1\sim24$ hrs using SEM/EDX, XRD and EPMA. The weight changes of Fe-XAl-0.3Y alloys followed the parabolic rate law, Sulfidation rates of iron aluminide alloys with high Al content were one-twentieth lower than that of 5Al alloys. This is due to the formation of protective $Al_{2}O_3$ oxides on the surface of 10Al, 14Al and 25Al alloys. By calculating partial pressure of impurity oxygen contained $H_2/H_{2}S$ gas, the $Al_{2}O_3$ oxides formation could be explained using Fe-Al-S-O thermodynamic stability diagram. The sulfidation product scales of the 5Al alloy showed that thick iron sulfide scale(FeS) containing porosities formed during early stages of sulfidation. With continued sulfidation, aluminum sulfide was formed at the alloy/scale interface.

  • A novel process is proposed to improve oxidation resistance of Ti-Al intermetallic compounds at elevated temperatures by both Cr addition and pre-sulfidation, where TiAl alloys withlor without Cr addition were sulfidized at 1173K for 86.4ks at a 1.3 Pa sulfur partial pressure in a $H_2-H_2S$ gas mixture. The pre-sulfidation treatment formed a thin Cr-Al alloy layer as well as 7~10 micrometer $TiAl_3$ and $TiAl_2$ layer, due to selective sulfidation of Ti. Oxidation resistance of the pre-sulfidation processed TiAl 4Cr alloy was examined under isothermal and heat cycle conditions between room temperature and 1173K in air. Changes in $TiAl_3$ into $TiAl_2$ and then TiAl phases as well as their effect on oxidation behavior were investigated and compared with the oxidation behavior of the TiAl-4Cr alloy as TiAl and pre-sulfidation processed TiAl aHoys. After oxidation for up to 2.7Ms a protective $Al_2O_3$ scale was formed, and the pre-formed $TiAl_3$ changed into $TiAl_2$ and the $Al_2Cr$ phase changed into a CrAlTi phase between the $Al_2O_3$ scale and $TiAl_2$ layer. The pre-sulfidation processed TiAl-4Cr alloy had very good oxidation resistance for longer times, up to 2.7 Ms, in contrast to those observed for the pre-sulfidation processed TiAl alloy where localized oxidation occurred after 81 Oks and both the TiAl and TiAl-4Cr alloys themselves corroded rapidly from the initial stage of oxidation

  • The sulfidation behavior of a sputter-deposited amorphous coating of 69.0%Nb-16.9Ni-11.9%Al-2.2%Si (at.%) has been investigated as a funtion of temperature.(973-1173K) in pure sulfur pressure of 0.01atm. The sulfidation kinetics of the casting obyed the parabolic rate low over the whole temperature ranges studied. The stlfidation rate increased with the temperature, as expected. The sulfide scale, the composition of which was $Al_2S_3,\;NbS_2,\;Ni_{3-x}S_2\;and\;FeCrS_4$, formed on the amorphous coating was primarily bilayered. Both the outer fastgrowing non-protective 4Al_2S_3$scale and the inner slowly-growing protective $NbS_2$,/TEX> scale and the inner slowly-growing protective $NbS_2$ scale had some Fe and Cr dissolution, which evidently came from the base substrate alloy of stainless steel type 304. Belows the coating, Kirkendall void formation was noticed. Nevertheless, a dramatic improvement of sulfidation resistance was achieved by sputter-depositing Nb-2 Ni-Al-Si layer on the stainless steel 304.

  • Sputter-deposited Nb-Al-Cr alloys. $3-5{\mu}m$ thick, have been prepared on quartz substrates as oxidation-and sulfidation-resistant materials at high temperatures. The oxidation or the alloys in the $Ar-O_2$ atmosphere of an oxygen partial pressure of 20 kPa follows approximately the parabolic rate law, thus being diffusion controlled. Their oxidation rates are almost the same as or even lower than those ofthc typical chromia-forming alloys. The multi-lavered oxide scales are formed on the ternary alloys. The outermost layer is composed of $Cr_2O_3$, which is"mainly responsible for the high oxidation'resistance of these alloys. In contrast to sputter-deposited Cr-Nb binary alloys reported previously, the inner layer is not porous. TEM observation as well as EDX analysis indicates that the innermost layer is a mixture of $Al_2O_3$ and niobium oxide. The dispersion of $Al_2O_3$ in niobium oxide may be attributable to the prevention of the formation of the porous oxide layer. The sulfidation rates of the present ternary alloys arc higher than those of the sputter-deposited Nb-AI binary alloys, but still several orders of magnitude lower than those of conventional high temperature alloys. Two-layered sulfide scales are formed, consisting of an outer $Al_2S_3$ layer containing chromium and an inner layer composed of $NbS_2$ and a small amount of $Cr_2S_3$. The presence of $Cr_2S_3$ in the inner protective $NbS_2$ layer may be attributed to the increase in the sulfidation rates.

  • In this study, lots of methods have been studing to utilize energy and decrease contaminated effluents. There has been great progress on IGCC (Integrated gasification combined cycle) to reduce thermal energy losses. The following results have been conducted from desulfurization experiments using waste shell to remove $H_{2}S$. Unreacted core model ior desulfuriration rate prediction of sorbent was indicated. These were linear relationship between time and conversion. So co-current diffusion resistance was conducted reaction rate controlling step. The sulfidation rate is likely to be controlled primarily by countercurrent diffusion through the product layer of calcium sulfide(CaS) formed. Maximum desulfurization capacity was observed at 0.631 mm for lime, oyster and hard-shelled mussel. The kinetics of the sorption of $H_{2}S$ by CaO is sensitive to the reaction temperature and particle size at $800^{\circ}C$, and the reaction rate of oyster was faster than the calcined limestone at $700^{\circ}C$.

  • Low-sulfidation style ore deposits, the major source of Au, Ag, and Hg, are formed from neutral-pH, reduced hydrothermal solutions close to equilibrium with their host rocks. The waters are low-salinity (〈1 wt % NaCl equiv.) but relatively gas rich (1-2 wt % $CO_2$), and are largely meteoric water. However, the contribution of magmatic components to the epithermal system, its temporal importance, and its relation to the source of ore metals are largely controversial. (omitted)

  • There are many typical epithermal deposits scattering in the Taran of central Kalimantan. Indonesia. To get the shallow geological information, we carried out the geophysical exploration: spontaneous potential survey, in-suite magnetic susceptibility measurement and relistivity survey method in this area for a few weeks from September 30th to October 27th in 1997. SP survey (Fluke 27 multimeter)/magnetic susceptibility (EK -7 meter) measurement was carried out with a 250m$\times$10m lattice net in N45$^{\circ}$W direction. The dipole-dipole array resistivity survey was conducted with an electrode spacing of ${\alpha}$=30 m and electrode separation index n=7 at the line 5. The result shows that was the gold bearing quartz vein area can be divided into two type lone: low sulfidation type and high sulfidation type zone. The low resistivity value in the survey line 5 indicated a fracture Bone associated with the high sulfidation zone.
