  • In this paper, an optical sensing system has been developed to detect the dust in vacuum cleaner. The system works well through self-tuning mechanism, even though there are systemic variance and characteristic change which is caused by the pollution on the surface of the optical elements. Using the developed sensing system, a novel suction power control system has been proposed, which is able to be used for a long time.

해상풍력 석션파일의 수직도 제어에 대한 수치해석 (Numerical Analysis on Tilting Control of Suction Pile for Offshore Wind Power)

  • 본 연구에서는 점성토와 사질토 지반에 관입된 해상풍력 석션파일의 수직도 제어를 모사하기 위해 유한요소해석 프로그램인 ABAQUS를 이용하여 수치해석을 수행하였다. 석션파일은 연직방향으로부터 $1^{\circ}$ 기울어져 지반에 관입된 상태로 3차원으로 모델링 했다. 수직도 제어를 위해 석션파일 내부를 3개의 격실로 분리하고 그 중 한 격실의 상부슬래브 무게중심에 하중을 재하시켜 석션파일을 원위치 시키도록 모사했다. 수치해석 결과로부터 석션파일을 원위치 시키는데 필요한 소요 석션압을 경사도에 따라 구했으며, 원위치 시켰을 때 발생하는 석션파일 콘크리트 스커트의 최대/최소 주응력과 강재 내부격벽의 Mises 응력을 검토했다. 경사진 석션파일을 원위치 시키기 위해 필요한 소요 석션압은 점성토에서 약 410kPa, 사질토에서 약 1,800kPa로 나타났으며, 석션파일 스커트와 내부격벽에 발생하는 응력도 사질토에서 더 큰 것으로 나타났다.

  • Cyclone, a type of particle collector widely used in the field of ambient sampling and industrial particulate control, is the principal type of gas-solids separator that uses a centrifugal force. The goal of this study is to design and evaluate the cyclone that can be used for the household vacuum cleaners. A multi cyclone with a 1st cyclone and several 2nd cyclones is designed to improve dust collection efficiency. The dust collection efficiency and the suction power of 1st cyclone are evaluated. And the dust collection efficiency and the suction power of multi cyclone are evaluated according to various sizes of inlet and vortex finder. As a result, a cone shape porous filter has better dust collection efficiency than a cylinder shape porous filter. The dust collection efficiency of a multi cyclone is 3.5% greater than that of a single cyclone.

운전기록 모니터링에 의한 발전보일러용 고압 급수가열기 내부 튜브의 파손예측 (Prediction of Internal Tube Bundle Failure in High Pressure Feedwater Heater for a Power Generation Boiler by the Operating Record Monitoring)

  • 본 연구에서는 500 MW급 초임계압 석탄 화력발전소의 발전보일러용 고압 급수가열기에서 발생한 내부 튜브의 파손 사례 분석을 통해 운전 기록 모니터링에 의한 발전보일러용 고압 급수가열기 내부 튜브의 파손 예측 방안을 모색하고자 하였다. 이 연구를 통해 고압 급수가열기 내부 튜브 파손 시 쉘 측 수위 조절 밸브 개도와 보일러 급수펌프 흡입 유량의 변화로 내부 튜브 파손을 진단할 수 있는 예측 모형을 제안하였고, 제안된 예측 모형은 급수 계통의 불균형이 일어난 추가 사례를 통해 실증하였다. 이에 따라 본 연구와 유사한 특성의 발전보일러용 고압 급수가열기의 경우에도 쉘 측 수위 조절 밸브 개도와 보일러 급수펌프의 흡입 유량의 정상 운전 상태 값 대비 현재 운전 값 비교는 고압 급수가열기 내부 튜브의 파손에 대한 유력한 예측 진단 방안이 될 수 있다고 판단된다.

Fault Detection and Diagnosis of the Deaerator Level Control System in Nuclear Power Plants

  • The deaerator of a power plant is one of feedwater heaters in the secondary system, and it is located above the feedwater pumps. The feedwater pumps take the water from the deaerator storage tank, and the net positive suction head(NSPH) should always be ensured. To secure the sufficient NPSH, the deaerator tank is equipped with the level control system of which level sensors are critical items. And it is necessary to ascertain the sensor state on-line. For this, a model-based fault detection and diagnosis(FDD) is introduced in this study. The dynamic control model is formulated from the relation of input-output flow rates and liquid-level of the deaerator storage tank. Then an adaptive state estimator is designed for the fault detection and diagnosis of sensors. The performance and effectiveness of the proposed FDD scheme are evaluated by applying the operation data of Yonggwang Units 3 & 4.

  • In the development of electricity generating wind turbines for wind farm application, only two types have survived as the methods of power regulation; stall regulation and fun span pitch control. The sound measurement procedures of IEC 61400-11 are applied to field test and evaluation of noise emission from each of 1.5 MW and 660 kW wind turbine generators (WTG) utilizing the stall regulation and the pitch control for the power regulation, respectively. Apparent sound power level, wind speed dependence and third-octave band levels are evaluated for both of WTGs. It is found that while 1.5 MW WTG using the stall control is found to emit lower sound power than 660 kW one using the pitch control at low wind speed (below 8 m/s), sound power from the former becomes greater than that of the latter in the higher wind speed. Equivalent continuous sound pressure levels (ECSPL) of the stall control type of WTG vary more widely with wind speed than those of the pitch control type of WTG These characteristics are believed to be strongly dependent on the basic difference of the airflow around the blade between the stall regulation and the pitch control types of WTG. These characteristics according to the methods of power regulation lead to the very different noise emission characteristics of WTG depending on the seasons because the average wind speed in summer is lower than the critical velocity over which the airflow on the suction side of blade in the stall types of WT are separated. These results propose that, in view of environmental noise regulation, the developer of wind farm should give enough considerations to the choice of power regulation of their WTG based on the weather conditions of potential wind farm locations.

EFFECT OF MIXTURE PREPARATION IN A DIESEL HCCI ENGINE USING EARLY IN-CYLINDER INJECTION DURING THE SUCTION STROKE

  • It is becoming increasingly difficult for engines using conventional fuels and combustion techniques to meet stringent emission norms. The homogeneous charge compression ignition(HCCI) concept is being evaluated on account of its potential to control both smoke and NOx emissions. However, HCCI engines face problems of combustion control. In this work, a single cylinder water-cooled diesel engine was operated in the HCCI mode. Diesel was injected during the suction stroke($0^{\circ}$ to $20^{\circ}$ degrees aTDC) using a special injection system in order to prepare a nearly homogeneous charge. The engine was able to develop a BMEP(brake mean effective pressure) in the range of 2.15 to 4.32 bar. Extremely low levels of NOx emissions were observed. Though the engine operation was steady, poor brake thermal efficiency(30% lower) and high HC, CO and smoke were problems. The heat release showed two distinct portions: cool flame followed by the main heat release. The low heat release rates were found to result in poor brake thermal efficiency at light loads. At high brake power outputs, improper combustion phasing was the problem. Fuel deposited on the walls was responsible for increased HC and smoke emissions. On the whole, proper combustion phasing and a need for a well- matched injection system were identified as the important needs.

  • 난류경계층이 유지되기 위한 에너지 공급은 경계층 내 구조물인 와류들의 상호작용으로 끊임없이 이루어진다. 이러한 난류 유동은 수송분야의 마찰저항 및 해양구조물의 침식 및 진동을 유발하기 때문에 유동 제어를 위한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 이러한 제어의 극대화를 위해서는 난류 에너지 전달이 어떻게 이루어지는지에 대한 메카니즘 규명이 필수적이고, 이를 위해서는 층류경계층 내 유동현상으로 파악하는 것이 명확하고 용이하다는 장점이 있다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 층류경계층 내 평판에 반구를 설치하여 역압력구배을 발생시킴으로써 교란된 유동현상의 상호작용을 분석하였다. 즉, 반구를 둘러싼 목걸이 와류와 반구 표면의 유동 박리에 의한 후류영역에서 머리핀 와류가 생성되어 상호 유기적으로 영향을 주고받는다. 이 과정에서 목걸이 와류는 후류영역으로 높은 운동량의 유체를 유입시켜 머리핀 와류의 발생 주파수를 증가시킨다. 반구 전방에 구멍을 뚫어 국부적인 흡입제어로 목걸이 와류의 와도를 감소시킴으로써 그 영향이 완화되는 과정을 유동 가시화 및 열선유속계로 측정하여 정성 및 정량적으로 분석하였다.

The main purpose of this paper is to experimentally identify the characteristics of noise emission of wind turbines according to the power regulation types. The sound measurement procedures of IEC 61400-11 are applied to field test and evaluation of noise emission from each of 1.5 MW and 660 kW wind turbines (WT) utilizing the stall regulation and the pitch control for the power regulation, respectively. Apparent sound power level, wind speed dependence, third-octave band levels and tonality are evaluated for both of WTs. It is observed that equivalent continuous sound pressure levels (ECSPL) of the stall control type of WT continue to increase with increasing wind speed whereas those of the pitch control type of WT show less correlation with wind speed. These observed characteristics are believed to be due to the different airflow patterns around the blade between the stall regulation and the pitch control types of WT; the airflow on the suction side of blade in the stall types of WT are separated at the high wind speed. It is also found that the 1.5 MW WT using the stall control emits lower sound power than 660 kW one using the pitch control at wind speeds below 8m/s, whereas sound power of the former becomes higher than that of the latter in the wind speed over 8m/s. This wind-speed dependence of sound power leads to the very different noise omission characteristics of WTs depending on the seasons because the average wind speed in summer is lower than 8m/s whereas that in summer is higher. Based on these experimental observations, it is proposed that, in view of environmental noise regulation, the developer of wind farm should give enough considerations to the choice of power regulation of their WTG based on the weather conditions of potential wind farm locations.

에어엔드 형상변화에 따른 스크류 압축기 성능에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental Study on the Performance of Screw Compressor with Various Shapes of Air End)

  • The performance of screw air compressor is affected by rotor profile, lobe number, air end wrap angle, rotor L/D ratio, suction and discharge ports, revolutions of air end and load regulation control, etc. In general, an efficient screw compressor needs a rotor profile of which has a large flow cross-section area, short sealing lines and a small blow-hole. In this study, experimental study was performed with newly designed $5{\times}6$ rotor profile and various shapes of air end. Results show that the measured specific power consumption of the newly designed screw compressor appeared to be lower than any other published data for the equivalent screw compressors manufactured.
