  • FMS operating system consists of several subsystems in general. i.e. tool grouping subsystem. tool/job assignment subsystem. job dispatching subsystem, and papers dealing with each subsystem were published by many researchers [1], [4], [6], [8], [9], [10], [11], [12], [13], [14], [15], [16]. This paper mainly discusses about tool/job assignment subsystem as a job loading procedure. that occupies the kernel position of overall FMS operating system. Its performance is evaluated through simulation experiments of an integrated operating system under a typical FMS hardware configuration implemented in many machining factories, which is composed of the proposed procedure as well as a job dispatching procedure including several heuristic dispatching rules in terms of rule-base.

  • EGSE is used to check out satellite payload during the development prior to launch. The EGSE represented in this paper is a test system for Ka band communication transponder of COMS. The EGSE consist of two subsystems as CTS subsystem and PCTS subsystem. Communication Test subsystem (CTS) performs satellite transponder RF performance testing, data analysis and trending. Most of transponder RF performances are automatically tested by the CTS subsystem. Power, Command & Telemetry subsystem (PCTS) monitor telemetry messages from the transponder and send tele-commands to satellite transponder for the configuration change. PCTS also provide simulated S/C power to the transponder during the ground validation testing. The EGSE test functions are verified by the transponder simulator testing and will be used for the flight model transponders testing.

  • State-of-the-art processors require increasingly complicated memory services for high performance and low power consumption. In particular, they request transfers within a burst in a wrap-around order to minimize the miss penalty of a cache. However, synchronous dynamic random access memories (SDRAMs) do not always generate transfers in the wrap-round order required by the processors. Thus, a memory subsystem rearranges the SDRAM transfers in the wrap-around order, but the rearrangement process may increase memory latency and waste the bandwidth of on-chip interconnects. In this paper, we present a memory subsystem that is effective for the wrapping bursts of a cache. The proposed memory subsystem makes SDRAMs generate transfers in an intermediate order, where the transfers are rearranged in the wrap-around order with minimal penalties. Then, the transfers are delivered with priority, depending on the program locality in space. Experimental results showed that the proposed memory subsystem minimizes the memory performance loss resulting from wrapping bursts and, thus, improves program execution time.

  • The planar tracked vehicle model used in this investigation consists of two kinematically decoupled subsystem, i.e., the chassis subsystem and the track subsystem. The chassis subsystem include the chassis frame, sprocket, idler and rollers, while the track subsystem is represented as a closed kinematic chain consisting of rigid links interconnected by revolute joints, In this paper, the recursive kinematic and dynamic formulation of the tracked vehicle is used to find the vertical forces and the distances of the certain track moved in the driving direction along the track. These distances and vertical forces obtained are used to calculate the sinkage of a terrain. The FEM is adopted to analyze the interaction between the tracked vehicle and terrain. The terrain is represented by a system of elements with specified constitutive relationships and considered as a piecewise linear elastic, plastic and isotropic material. When the tracked vehicle is moving with different speeds on the terrain, the elastic and plastic deformations and the maximum sinkage for the four different types of a isotropic soil are simulated.

  • Large-area high-temperature superconducting (HTS) films, filter design and damage-free processing technique have been developed to fabricate low insertion loss and sharp skirt filters. Further, long life cryocooler, low temperature low noise amplifier (LNA) and cryocable have been developed to assemble HTS filter subsystem for IS-95 and IMT-2000 mobile telecommunication. The surface resistance of the films was about 0.2 milli-ohm at 70 K, 12 GHz. An 11-pole HTS filter for IS-95 telecommunication system and a 16-pole HTS filter for IMT-2000 telecommunication system were designed and fabricated using 60 {\times}$ 50 mm$^2$ and one half of 3-inch diameter YBCO films on a 0.5-mm-thick MgO substrate, respectively. We have assembled the filter and low temperature LNA in a dewar with the cryocooler. Ultra low-noise (noise figure: 0.5 dB at 70 K) and ultra sharp-skirt (40 dB/1.5 MHz) performance was presented by the IS-95 filter subsystem and the IMT-2000 filter subsystem, respectively.

  • Two different subsystem synthesis methods with independent generalized coordinates have been developed and compared. In each formulation, the subsystem equations of motion are generated in terms of independent generalized coordinates. The first formulation is based on the relative Cartesian coordinates with respect to moving subsystem base (virtual) body. The second formulation is based on the relative joint coordinates using recursive formulation. Computational efficiency of the formulations has been compared theoretically by the operational counting method.

  • Oil Field Geographical Information System (OFGIS) manages multiple spatial data, attribute data, and topographic data, which include almost every kind of ground info rmation and underground information. Subsystems managed by OFGIS include petroleum exploration subsystem (PESS), petroleum development and engineering subsystem (PDESS), petrochemical subsystem (PCSS), petroleum storage and transportation subsystem (PSTSS), petroleum sale subsystem (PSSS), etc. A basic OFGIS framework consists of oil field infrastructure coverage (OFIC), oil field specialized information coverage (OFSIC) and oil field synthesis and decision service coverage (OFSDSC). Basic function of OFGIS includes database management, geographic information management, spatial information processing and application.

  • In this study, a model integration method is pressented as a new method for development of a parametric simulation model. This method enable us to integrate the special simulation models for each production subsystem into a large simulation model. Not only this large simulation model but also each special simulation model for each production subsytem can be used independently. Using this integration method man can reduce the development time and cost for simulation model development. To show the usefulness of this method, a simulation model for a production system with robots is developed by this model integration method. This simulation model is realized by the integration of two special simulation models, one model for a machining subsystem and the other model for a transport subsystem. The modeled production system consists of the robotic cells for machining and a transport subsystem which enable the material flow among the robotic cells. The flow of workpiece in each robotic cell is not fixed. All machines in a robotic cell are only served by robots.

  • This paper demonstrates the in-house development of the subsystem C&DH in a D-SAT satellite project of Astronautic Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd. (ATSB). D-SAT is a non-imaging satellite. It will carry a dosimeter as the payload for scientific objectives. Since one of the D-SAT project establishment intended objectives is to demonstrate the research and development skill of the ATSB engineers on the satellite system building, most of the subsystems of the D-SAT are developed in-house including the C&DH subsystem. C&DH subsystem plays an important role for managing data handling tasks and general operation of the satellite system. The C&DH development includes the research and study on the hardware and software design, the design of both the hardware and software, the development of the software system, the integration between the software and the hardware system and the implementation of the subsystem into the satellite system. This program allows ATSB to accomplish the engineers with expertise not only in the C&DH subsystem but other subsystems too besides developing knowledge in the management of a space project that covers not only on the technical issues but issues relating to the economic, political and legal issues.
