Both negative and positive substrate bias effects on the structural properties and field-emission characteristics are investigated. carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are grown on Ni catalysts employing an inductively-coupled plasma chemical vapor deposition (ICP-CVD) method. Characterization using various techniques, such as field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), Auger spectroscopy (AES), and Raman spectroscopy, shows that the physical dimension as well as the crystal quality of CNTs grown can be changed and controlled by the application of substrate bias during CNT growth. It is for the first time observed that the prevailing growth mechanism of CNTs, which is either due to tip-driven growth or based-on-catalyst growth, may be influenced by substrate biasing. It is also seen that negative biasing would be more effectively role in the vertical-alignment of CNTs compared to positive biasing. However, the CNTs grown under the positively bias condition display much better electron emission capabilities than those grown under negative bias or without bias. The reasons for all the measured data regarding the structural properties of CNTs are discussed to confirm the correlation with the observed field-emissive properties.
The optimal conditions and substrate specificity of whole body esterase (EST) activity, effects of inhibitors (Eserine, Paraoxon, p-HMB, DDVP, DFP) on the enzyme, and ontogenv of the isozymes were determined in Lucilio ilfustris Meisen. The optimal temperature was $45^{\circ}C$ regardless of kind of reacted substrate, $\alpha-naphthyl$ acetate $(\alpha-Nal,$ a.naphthvl butylate $(\alpha-N),$ and Pnaphthyl acetate $(\beta-Na),$ but the optimal pH showed some regioselectivitv to naphthvl group of the esters; PH 7.0 for Iform, pH 7.5 for a-form. The maximum reaction rate was recorded at about 2.5 $\times$ 10's M of PNa and etNa, but 1.0 $\times$ 10'S M of $\alpha-Nb.$ Among the five EST inhibitors tested, DDVP was the most powerful. However, distinction of the relative specificity of inhibitors between three body parts, head, thorax, and abdomen, was shouts, representing differences in the distribution and activity of isozvmes. Of 12 carboxyl-esterases (CE), 8 cholinesterases (ChE) and 2 arvlesterases (ArE) identified based on their inhibitor specificity throughout the development, two larval and prepupal stage specific ChEs, no pupal specific, and 2 CEs.2ChEs. and one ArE adult specific isozvmes were confirmed.
The ferroelectric YMnO3 thin films were prepared by MOD(metal-organic decomposition) method with Y- and Mn-acetylacetonate as starting materials. Thin films were grown on various substrates by spin-coating technique. The crystalline phases of the thin films were identified by X-ray diffractometer as a function of heat-treatment temperature, pH of coating solution and substrate. In addition, the effect of Mn/Y molar ratio(0.8~1.2) on the formation of hexagonal-YMnO3 phase was investigated. In forming highly c-axisoriented hexagonal-YMnO3 single phase, the Pt coated Si substrate was more effective than the bare Si substrate, and the optimum heat-treatment condition was at 82$0^{\circ}C$ for 30 min. Higher Mn/Y molar ratio within 0.8~1.2 and pH of YMnO3 precursor solution within 0.5~2.5 favored formation of ferroelectric hexagonal phase rather than orthorhombic phase. Leakage current density of the hexagonal-YMnO3 thin film formed on Pt(111)/TiO2/SiO2/Si substrate was low enough as 0.4~4.0$\times$10-8(A/$\textrm{cm}^2$) at 5 V and its remanent polarization(Pr), calculated from the P-E hysteresis loop, was 3 nC/$\textrm{cm}^2$.

Vertically well aligned multi-wall carbon nanotubes (CNT) were grown on nickel coated glass substrates by plasma enhanced hot filament chemical vapor deposition at low temperatures below 600$^{\circ}C$. Acetylene and ammonia gas were used as the carbon source and a catalyst. Effects of growth parameters such as pre-treatment of substrate, plasma intensity, filament current, imput gas flow rate, gas composition, substrate temperature and different substrates on the growth characteristics of CNT were systematically investigated. Figure 1 shows SEM image of CNT grown on Ni coated glass substrate. Diameter of nanotube was 30 to 100nm depending on the growth condition. The diameter of CNT decreased and density of CNT increased as NH3 etching time etching time increased. Plasma intensity was found to be the most critical parameter to determine the growth of CNT. CNT was not grown at the plasma intensity lower than 500V. Growth of CNT without filament current was observed. Raman spectroscopy showed the C-C tangential stretching mode at 1592 cm1 as well as D line at 1366 cm-1. From the microanalysis using HRTEM, nickel cap was observed on the top of the grown CNT and very thin carbon amorphous layer of 5nm was found on the nickel cap. Current-voltage characteristics using STM showed about 34nA of current at the applied voltage of 1 volt. Electron emission from the vertically well aligned CNT was obtained using phosphor anode with onset electric field of 1.5C/um.
In this paper studied was the piezoelectric properties of the $\beta$-PVDF organic thin films prepared by physical vapour deposition method. The molecular orientation of organic thin films was controlled by the application of an electric field and variation of substrate temperature during the evaporation process. Optimum conditions of manufacturing $\beta$-PVDF organic thin film by physical vapor deposition method is to keep at the substrate temperature of $80^{\circ}C$, at the applied electric field of 142.8 kV/cm. The voltage output coefficient increased from 1.39 to 7.04V increasing the force moment.

This research is aimed at studying the asymmetric thermal buckling of porous functionally graded (FG) annular nanoplates resting on an elastic substrate which are made of two different sets of porous distribution, based on nonlocal elasticity theory. Porosity-dependent properties of inhomogeneous nanoplates are supposed to vary through the thickness direction and are defined via a modified power law function in which the porosities with even and uneven type are approximated. In this model, three types of thermal loading, i.e., uniform temperature rise, linear temperature distribution and heat conduction across the thickness direction are considered. Based on Hamilton's principle and the adjacent equilibrium criterion, the stability equations of nanoporous annular plates on elastic substrate are obtained. Afterwards, an analytical solution procedure is established to achieve the critical buckling temperatures of annular nanoplates with porosities under different loading conditions. Detailed numerical studies are performed to demonstrate the influences of the porosity volume fraction, various thermal loading, material gradation, nonlocal parameter for higher modes, elastic substrate coefficients and geometrical dimensions on the critical buckling temperatures of a nanoporous annular plate. Also, it is discussed that because of present of thermal moment at the boundary conditions, porous nanoplate with simply supported boundary condition doesn't buckle.

Recently sawdust cultivation of Shiitake mushroom (Lentinula edodes ) is getting increased because log cultivation is getting difficult to get oak logs. It is important to make mycelia browning on the substrate surface in sawdust cultivation. This browned surface plays an important role like as artificial bark of the oak log, which protects the other pests and suppresses water evaporation in the substrate. The period for mycelia browning is so long that the sawdust cultivation of Shiitake mushroom can not spread well into the mushroom farms. In this article we would like to discuss about the effect of environmental condition to the mycelial browning during sawdust bag cultivation for the To reduce the period required for browning of substrates, sawdust substrates was illuminated light with difference intensity. One hundred Lux light illumination was needed for producing normal yield of fruit body but fruit body yield was low and abnormally shaped fruit body was produced when cultured under the dark condition of incubation. Illumination over 200lux is necessary for the successful browning of substrates during incubation. Optimum incubation temperature for browning of substrates and fruiting was $25^{\circ}C$. The treatment of cotton plug with different size to identify the effect of aeration on the browning of substrates and fruiting showed rapid mycelial growth and reduced the periods for browning as the size of cotton plug was bigger. However, yield of fruit body was the highest at 16mm diameter cotton plug as compared to 20mm of that. $CO_2$ content in vessel of substrates was low as the size of cotton plug was bigger during incubation. $CO_2$ content during incubation of substrate was highest in periods between 8 week and 14 week after inoculation of shiitake when substrate was changed color into brown. $C_2H_4$ content in vessel with substrates was highest at 8mm diameter cotton plug and it was increased by order of 12, 16, 20, 0, 4 mm diameter cotton plug during substrate incubation. Sawdust substrate was soaked in cold water for different time to identify soaking effect of sawdust substrate on fruit body yield and activities of enzymes in these substrates were investigated. The fruit body yield was increased up to 40% by soaking substrates in comparison with unsoaked substrates. The soaked substrates showed 165, 175g/1,000ml at treatment of 4 and 15 hours, respectively. Cellulose activities in soaked substrates were not changed with soaking time, but activities of laccase, lignin degradation enzyme, were drastically increased up to 4 times in comparison with unsoaked substrates.

In order to establish fundamental data for stream restoration and environmental flow, we investigated inhabitation and species diversity of fish to substrate size in the typical streams of Geum River Basin. Field monitoring including fish sampling was conducted from October 2007 to October 2009. Substrate size was determined according to six different : silt (Si), sand (Sa), fine gravel (Fg), coarse gravel (Cg), cobbles (Co) and boulders (Bo). A total number of fish caught in the 18 sites was 7,649 representing 10 families 50 species, and Si, Sa, Fg, Cg, Co and Bo stations occupied 30, 29, 38, 30, 27 and 17 species, respectively. The most frequently found species in number was pale chum (Zacco platypus, 29.7%, n=2,275) followed by Z. koreanus (22.5%, n=1,720) in total stations. Biological diversity with increase of substrate size from the dominance of part species showed higher values as dominance index, lower and diversity, richness and evenness index. Index of biological integrity (IBI) and qualitative habitat evaluation index (QHEI) scores decreased with increase of substrate size. Therefore, it is necessary to make an effort on stream rehabilitation with evaluation of physical habitat condition by indicator species in order to maintain biodiversity and perform ecological restoration.

While the substrate-type solar cells with Cu(In,Ga)Se2 absorbers yield conversion efficiencies of up 20%[1], the highest published efficiency of Cu(In,Ga)Se2 superstrate solar cell is only 12.8% [2]. The commerciallized Cu(In,Ga)Se2 solar cells are made in the substrate configuration having the stacking sequence of substrate (soda lime glass)/back contact (molybdenum)/absorber layer (Cu(In,Ga)Se2)/buffer layer (cadmium sulfide)/window layer (transparent conductive oxide)/anti reflection layer (MgF2) /grid contact. Thus, it is not possible to illuminate the substrate-type cell through the glass substrate. Rather, it is necessary to illuminate from the opposite side which requires an elaborate transparent encapsulation. In contrast to that, the configuration of superstrate solar cell allows the illumination through the glass substrate. This saves the expensive transparent encapsulation. Usually, the high quality Cu(In,Ga)Se2 absorber requires a high deposition temperature over 550C. Therefore, the front contact should be thermally stable in the temperature range to realize a successful superstrate-type solar cell. In this study, it was tried to make a decent superstrate-type solar cell with the thermally stable ZnO:Al layer obtained by adjusting its deposition parameters in magnetron sputtering process. The effect of deposition condition of the layer on the cell performance will be discussed together with hall measurement results and current-voltage characteristics of the cells.
The growth mechanism of diamond thin films, deposited by Hot Filament CVD, was investigated through observation of changes in their surface morphology as a function of the substance temperature and deposition time. Amorphous carbon or DLC thin films were deposited at low substrate temperature. Diamond films consisting of square-shaped particles, whose surfaces are (100) planes, were deposited at an intermedate temperature. At high substrate temperatures, diamond films consisting of the particles showing both (100) and (111) plane were deposited. The (100) proferred orientation of the diamond films are believed to be due to a relatively high supersaturation during deposition, and the growth condition for the diamond films having (100) preferred orientation can be applied to the single crystal growth since no twins are generated on the (100) plane. The grain size of the diamond films did not change with increasing temperature and its increasing rate with increasing deposition time was the same irrespective of the substrate temperature. However, the nucleation density increased with substrate temperature and its increasing rate with deposition time was much higher for the films deposited at higher substrate temperature.
