  • This paper presents a method for designing fuzzy $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controllers of nonlinear systems with time varying delay. Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model is employed to represent nonlinear systems with time varying delay. Using a single quadratic Lyapunov function, the globally exponential stability and $H_2/H_{\infty}$ performance problem are discussed. A sufficient condition for the existence of fuzzy $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controllers is then presented in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMls). The proposed fuzzy $H_2/H_{\infty}$ controllers minimizes the upper bound on the linear quadratic performance measure.

  • The brightness of the Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) display is controlled by thin-film transistors (TFTs). Regardless of the materials and the structures of TFTs, an OLED suffers from the instable threshold voltage (Vth) of a TFT during operation. When designing an OLED pixel with circuit simulation tool such as SPICE, a designer needs to take Vth shift into account to improve the reliability of the circuit and various compensation methods have been proposed. In this paper, the effect of the compensation circuits from two typical OLED pixel circuits proposed in the literature are studied by the transient simulation with a SPICE tool in which the stretched-exponential time dependent Vth shift function is implemented. The simulation results show that the compensation circuits improve the reliability at the beginning of each frame, but Vth shifts from all TFTs in a pixel need to be considered to improve long-time reliability.

  • Here, the stability of stainless steel 316 (SS-316) was investigated to identify its applicability in the oxide reduction process, as a component in related equipment, to produce a complicated gas mixture composed of O2 and Cl2 under an argon (Ar) atmosphere. The effects of the mixed gas composition were investigated at flow rates of 30 mL/min O2, 20 mL/min O2 + 10 mL/min Cl2, 10 mL/min O2 + 20 mL/min Cl2, and 30 mL/min Cl2, each at 600℃, during a constant argon flow rate of 170 mL/min. It was found that the corrosion of SS-316 by the chlorine gas was suppressed by the presence of oxygen, while the reaction proceeded linearly with the reaction time regardless of gas composition. Surface observation results revealed an uneven surface with circular pits in the samples that were fed mixed gases. Thermodynamic calculations proposed the combination of Fe and Ni chlorination reactions as an explanation for this pit formation phenomenon. An exponential increase in the corrosion rate was observed with an increase in the reaction temperature in a range of 300 ~ 600℃ under a flow of 30 mL/min Cl2 + 170 mL/min Ar.

  • We consider a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with critical frequency, (P𝜀) : 𝜀2∆v(x) - V(x)v(x) + |v(x)|p-1v(x) = 0, x ∈ ℝN, and v(x) → 0 as |x| → +∞, for the infinite case as described by Byeon and Wang. Critical means that 0 ≤ V ∈ C(ℝN) verifies Ƶ = {V = 0} ≠ ∅. Infinite means that Ƶ = {x0} and that, grossly speaking, the potential V decays at an exponential rate as x → x0. For the semiclassical limit, 𝜀 → 0, the infinite case has a characteristic limit problem, (Pinf) : ∆u(x)-P(x)u(x) + |u(x)|p-1u(x) = 0, x ∈ Ω, with u(x) = 0 as x ∈ Ω, where Ω ⊆ ℝN is a smooth bounded strictly star-shaped region related to the potential V. We prove the existence of an infinite number of solutions for both the original and the limit problem via a Ljusternik-Schnirelman scheme for even functionals. Fixed a topological level k we show that vk,𝜀, a solution of (P𝜀), subconverges, up to a scaling, to a corresponding solution of (Pinf ), and that vk,𝜀 exponentially decays out of Ω. Finally, uniform estimates on ∂Ω for scaled solutions of (P𝜀) are obtained.

  • Recently several authors have extended the Beta function by using its integral representation. However, in many cases no expression of these extended functions in terms of classic special functions is known. In the present paper, we introduce a further extension by defining a family of functions Gr,s : ℝ*+ → ℂ, with r, s ∈ ℂ and ℜ(r) > 0. For given r, s, we prove that this function satisfies a second-order linear differential equation with rational coefficients. Solving this ODE, we express Gr,s as a combination of confluent hypergeometric functions. From this we deduce a new integral relation satisfied by Tricomi's function. We then investigate additional specific properties of Gr,1 which take the form of new non trivial integral relations involving exponential and error functions. We discuss the connection between Gr,1 and Stokes' first problem (or Rayleigh problem) in fluid mechanics which consists in determining the flow created by the movement of an infinitely long plate. For $r{\in}{\frac{1}{2}}{\mathbb{N}}^*$, we find additional relations between Gr,1 and Hermite polynomials. In view of these results, we believe the family of extended beta functions Gr,s will find further applications in two directions: (i) for improving our knowledge of confluent hypergeometric functions and Tricomi's function, (ii) and for engineering and physics problems.

  • The impact of raindrops on the soil surface causes soil detachment, which may be estimated by measuring the kinetic energy (KE) of the raindrops. Since direct measurements of rainfall force on ground surfaces are not generally available, empirical equations are an alternative option to estimate KE from rainfall intensity (I), which has the greatest influence over soil erosion and is easily accessible. Establishing the optimal formulation for the relationship between kinetic energy and rainfall intensity has proven to be difficult. Thus, this research considered thirty-seven rainfall events observed from June 2020 to December 2021 using a laster optical disdrometer erected in Kyungpook National University to examine the characteristics of KE-I relationships. We concentrated our discussion on the formation of two different expressions of the KE, including KE expenditure (KEexp) and KE content (KEcon). The following conclusions were drawn: (1) We employed statistical analysis to demonstrate that the KEexp is more suitable expression for establishing an empirical rule between KE and I than the KEcon. (2) A power-law model was used to find the best correlation between KEexp-I relationship, whereas the best match between KEcon and I were found using an exponential equation.

  • In order to analyze the sensitivity of carbon dioxide flux by soil temperature in the grassplot, carbon dioxide flux and soil temperature were observed 24 times from March, 2010 to March, 2011 at nine sites in the grassplot. The average of $CO_2$ in the grassplot is $2.2{\sim}36.7^{\circ}C$, the highest in August, the lowest in January, and the average of carbon dioxide flux is $12{\sim}1479mgCO_2{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}hr^{-1}$, and the carbon dioxide emission from the grassplot to the atmosphere was 10 times higher in summer than in winter. The temperature response coefficient estimated by the exponential function of carbon dioxide flux according to soil temperature was ranged from 0.1065 to 0.1274, and the increase tendency of $CO_2$ flux with soil temperature was linear at $0{\sim}20^{\circ}C$ and exponential at $20{\sim}40^{\circ}C$. The $Q_{10}$ values for each of nine observation sites on the grassplot was in the range of 2.901 ~ 3.575, and the $Q_{10}$ value using the total data observed in the lawn was estimated to be 3.374. In the homogeneous grassplot area, the average of $Q_{10}$ values by observation point and the $Q_{10}$ value by the total data were estimated similarly.

  • The effectiveness of Wi-Fi networks is greatly influenced by the optimization of contention window (CW) parameters. Unfortunately, the conventional approach employed by IEEE 802.11 wireless networks is not scalable enough to sustain consistent performance for the increasing number of stations. Yet, it is still the default when accessing channels for single-users of 802.11 transmissions. Recently, there has been a spike in attempts to enhance network performance using a machine learning (ML) technique known as reinforcement learning (RL). Its advantage is interacting with the surrounding environment and making decisions based on its own experience. Deep RL (DRL) uses deep neural networks (DNN) to deal with more complex environments (such as continuous state spaces or actions spaces) and to get optimum rewards. As a result, we present a new approach of CW control mechanism, which is termed as contention window threshold (CWThreshold). It uses the DRL principle to define the threshold value and learn optimal settings under various network scenarios. We demonstrate our proposed method, known as a smart exponential-threshold-linear backoff algorithm with a deep Q-learning network (SETL-DQN). The simulation results show that our proposed SETL-DQN algorithm can effectively improve the throughput and reduce the collision rates.

  • The present study addresses the problem of quantitative prediction of effective complex relative permittivity of Barium Titanate/Polyvenylidene Fluoride (PVDF) and $(Bi_{0.5}Na_{0.5})_{0.94}Ba_{0.06}TiO_3$/Poly(VDF-TrFE) biphasic ceramic-polymer composites. Theoretical results for effective relative permittivity derived from several dielectric mixture equations were fitted to the experimental data taken from the works of Prasad et al. (2010), Wang et al. (2004), Takenaka et al. (1991) and Yamada et al. (1982). The study revealed that out of the different test equations, only a few equations like modified Rother-Lichtenecker equation, Dias-Dasgupta equation or Rao equation for the real part and Bruggeman equation for the imaginary part of complex permittivity well fitted the corresponding experimental results. In the present study, some of the equations were used in their original forms, while some others were modified by choosing suitable shape-dependent parameters in order to get reasonably good agreement with experimental results. Besides, the experimental results have been proposed in the form of a mathematical model using first order exponential growth, which provided excellent fits.

  • The temperature dependences of the NMR spectrum and the spin-lattice relaxation times in $KH_2PO_4$ were investigated via single-crystal NMR and MAS NMR. The stretched-exponential relaxation that occurred because of the distribution of correlation times was indicative of the degree of the distribution of the double-well potential on the hydrogen bond. The behaviors responsible for the strong temperature dependences of the $^1H$ and $^{31}P$ spin-lattice relaxation times in the rotating frame $T_{1{\rho}}$ in $KH_2PO_4$ are likely related to the reorientational motion of the hydrogen-bond geometry and the $PO_4$ tetrahedral distortion.
