  • This study is about the scale to evaluate the data of the countermeasures in the 'simulation based government exercise' (tentative name). The criteria and weighting of the scale is a standard for evaluating the data of each agency input. This maintains the objectivity and consistency of the evaluation, which complements the subjective evaluation of the observer. Therefore, the criteria should accommodate the purpose of the government exercise evaluation, the possibility of measurement in the simulation environment, the objectivity, no-duplication and causality between criteria, and the grade applying the evaluation results, and the weighting should be set. In this study, three major criteria of timeliness, accuracy, and appropriateness is set up for the evaluation scale and it consists of sub-criteria classified into three classes below respectively and the concept of it was defined. The weighting was calculated by AHP analysis considering the hierarchical structure of it. When this evaluation scale is applied to the 'simulation based government exercise' in the future, it will be possible to secure consistency and objectivity of the evaluation of measures by integrating the quantified evaluation into the observation evaluation and to conduct AAR by scientific techniques.

  • The International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) initiated by the Thailand Astronomical Society in 2007 is an annual competition for high school students. One of its aim is to enhance the development of international exchange in the field of school education in astronomy and astrophysics. This paper first provides the overview of the IOAA in terms of key regulations based on its statutes, history and current status. Secondly, the published syllabus of the IOAA is used for content analysis according to subject areas regarding the exam questions of the IOAA in theoretical, observational and data analysis parts from 2007 to 2010. Also, a scientific inquiry framework is applied to the same questions for assessment based on scientific inquiry in the cognitive aspect with two sub-classes of scientific knowledge and scientific reasoning. Among a dozen astronomy subject areas listed on the syllabus, the theoretical part of the IOAA makes more frequent use of the Sun, the solar system, properties of stars, and concept of time. In content knowledge, a factor of scientific knowledge, the IOAA questions, especially in the theoretical part have a lesser degree in difficulty than the IAO (International Astronomy Olympiad) exam questions for the same period whose degree in difficulty is comparable to college level. With regard to scientific reasoning, the IOAA questions tend to involve convergent rather than divergent thinking. Lastly, in light of these findings, discussions are given on the outcome of Korean participation in the previous IOAAs and ways to help better in preparing Korean students for future astronomy Olympiads.

  • The purpose of this research is to discover how Practical Reasoning Home Economics Instruction(PRHEI) applied to food and nutrition units would impact on the morality of female high school students. The research sample was drawn from the two freshman classes of \"M\" High School far Girls. located in the Pusan area. One classroom of 50 students was used as the test group and the other of 47 as the control group for the total of 97 students. Measuring the intellectual and behavioral morality scores followed the pre-post test design under which the PRHEI was administered to the test group during the period of eight weeks in a semester. Whereas the control group received the conventional lecture-oriented instruction during the same period. The effects of PRHEI on morality were measured using the system developed in 1972 by Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. and translated by Kim. Ahn-Jung in 1982. The system developed by Yang. Byung-Han in 1994 was utilized to measure the behavioral morality score. In analyzing the collected data. SPSS/WIN was used to generate means standard deviation and t-test. The research findings are as follows : First. The students who have been taught under the PRHEI score higher on the intellectual morality scale than the control group receiving the lecture-oriented instruction. Second. The test croup students do not show any notable differences from the control group students receiving the lecture-oriented approach on the behavioral morality scale; however, the former do show statistically significant differences from the latter in the sub-factor of honesty scoring higher means over the control group.

  • This study evaluated the effect of vibration, level of lateral yielding strength, site conditions, ductility factor, strain-hardening ratio, and post-capping ratio of the strength limited bilinear SDF systems on the inelastic displacement ratio. The nonlinear response history analysis was conducted using 240 ground motions which were collected at the sites classified as site classes B, C, and D according to the NEHRP. To account for the P-$\Delta$ effects, this study considered negative stiffness ratios ranging from -0.1 to -0.5 of elastic stiffness. Four different damping ratios are used: 2, 5, 10, and 20%. From this study, an equation of inelastic displacement ratio was proposed using nonlinear regression analysis.

  • This study analyzes the performance of hybrid power systems combining a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and a gas turbine (GT). Research focus is given to the influence of the size-dependent gas turbine performance on hybrid system performance. Three hybrid systems adopting different gas turbines (kW, sub-MW, multi-MW classes) are designed. As the gas turbine power increases (i.e. as the gas turbine performance enhances), the gas turbine power portion increases and the hybrid system efficiency increases. The hybrid system shows efficiency improvement over the SOFC only system even in the case where the gas turbine net power is nearly zero. The increase of gas turbine pressure ratio contributes to the net hybrid system power output in all of the three cases, while system efficiency is almost independent on the pressure ratio.

  • This paper proposes an improved steganalysis method based on image categorization. In general, most steganalysis methods extract the statistical moments based features which contain the global natures of images regardless of their inherent characteristics. However, the steganalysis method based on the statistical moments leads to degraded performance by applying to images with different complexity. In this paper, we decompose an 8-bit image into an upper 4-bit plane and a lower 4-bit plane, and categorize the image with two classes according to the correlation coefficient between decomposed sub-images. Two independent steganalyses can be performed for the categorized images. Since our method uses independent steganalysis technique according to the image category, it can reduce the drawback of the steganalysis methods utilizing the statistical moments. The performance of the proposed scheme is compared with well-known four steganalysis methods. Experiment results show that the proposed scheme has higher detection rate than previous methods.
