  • This study was performed to produce the high reactive lignin zero substrates from autohydrolyzed wood resources. In chemical compositions of used raw-materials, there were significant differences between two species, Japanese larch (Larix leptolepis) and oak (Quercus mongolica) woods. Japanese larch contained 25 to 3.5 times higher amounts of extractives than oak wood, which is mainly derived from high content of arabinogalactan in Japanese larch wood. Oak wood has 5% lower lignin content and 3% higher holocellulose and pentosans than larch wood. Concerned to changes in wood components during autohydrolysis pretreatment at 22 kg/cm2 steaming pressure for 5~60 min, glucose content was constant during pretreatment, while hemicellulose and lignin were abruptly changed. Hemicellulose fraction was decreased significantly and lignin contents increased because of its condensation reaction with hemicellulose degradation products. The pH of hydrolyzates during pretreatment was decreased, reached upto pH 3 and since then leveled off. In the case of oak wood, same tendency was observed as in Japanese larch. Autohydrolysis followed by sodium chlorite and sulfite or bisulfite pretreatment was very effective in delignification of the substrates. In particular, two-stage delignification of autohydrolyzed woods with alkali and O2-alkali resulted in very low lignin content substrates, such as 0~0.2% lignin substrate.

  • In response to environmental demands, pyrolysis is one of the practical methods for obtaining reusable oils from waste plastics. However, the waste plastic pyrolysis oils (WPPO) are consumed as low-grade fuel oil due to their impurities. Thus, this study focused on the upgrading method to obtain naphtha catalytic cracking feedstocks from WPPO by the hydroprocessing, including hydrotreating and hydrocracking reaction. Especially, various transition metal sulfides supported catalysts were investigated as hydrotreating and hydrocracking catalysts. The catalytic performance was evaluated with a 250 ml-batch reactor at 370~400 ℃ and 6.0 MPa H2. Sulfur-, nitrogen-, and chlorine-compounds in WPPO were well eliminated with nickel-molybdenum/alumina catalysts. The NiMo/ZSM-5 catalyst has the highest naphtha yield.

  • The study consisted of a survey of the residential satisfaction level of the 3rd grade students and a survey of accessibility from farms for practical field training to public facilities. According to the geographical location of the farms on the map, the average distance to facilities related to convenience or safety and health that students complained was about 12km. And that to social and public facilities was about 4.4km. Students pointed out the convenience of using transportation, commercial and convenient facilities, and the safety of anti-crime security facilities as complaints during the practice session. Residential satisfaction levels in five realms, such as facility and structure, convenience, safety, comfort and sociality, were not all reached at the satisfaction level. In particular, the satisfaction level of female students was sub-normal in the safety and convenience realms. The average satisfaction levels reviewed by department were sub-normal for horse industry and floriculture departments. By residential patterns, satisfaction with sharing with the farmers was higher than with other patterns. And satisfaction level by housing structure was much lower in the assembly and container structures Since residential satisfaction level is determined by the inside and outside environment of the dwelling, college should provide students with accurate and vivid data using information communication technologies.

Science education majors must be able to solve problems effectively and pertinently when facing new ones in various situations and complicated human relations in order to become successful science teacher. The purpose of this research is to develop a test that measures the Practical Ability of pre-service science teachers and to apply this to them. The Practical Efficacy Scale for Science Education Majors was also developed in order to be used for validation. In this research, Practical Ability of Science Education Majors consisted of four sub-domains: subject education, business administration, relations and self-development. The result of the correlations between the scores of four sub-domains and the composite score of Practical Ability Test for Preservice Science Teacher(PATPST) is relevant. Subject education and administration business is the highest correlation with PATPSP score specially, and correlation between two areas appeared high. The result of applying PATPSP scores differed according to the grade of science education majors, but not according to their majors. This study's limitation is that the subjects consisted only of female students. However, PATPSP could be a new method that will help science education majors be successful science teachers.
