Despite the potentially major influence of rainstorm patterns on the prediction of shallow landslides, this relationship has not yet received significant attention. In this study, five typical temporal rainstorm patterns with the same cumulative amount and intensity components comprising Advanced (A1 and A2), Centralized (C), and Delayed (D1 and D2) were designed based on a historical rainstorm event occurred in 2006 in Mt. Jinbu area. The patterns were incorporated as the hydrological conditions into the Transient Rainfall Infiltration and Grid-based Regional Slope-stability Model (TRIGRS), in order to assess their influences on pore pressure variation and changes in the stability of the covering soil layer in the study area. The results revealed that not only the cumulative rainfall thresholds necessary to initiate landslides, but also the rate at which the factor of safety (FS) decreases and the time required to reach the critical state, are governed by rainstorm pattern. The sooner the peak rainfall intensity occurs, the smaller the cumulative rainfall threshold, and the shorter the time until landslide occurrence. Left-skewed rainfall patterns were found to have a greater effect on landslide initiation. More specifically, among the five different patterns, the Advanced storm pattern (A1) produced the most critical state, as it resulted in the highest pore pressure across the entire area for the shortest duration; the severity of response was then followed by patterns A2, C, D1, and D2. Thus, it can be concluded that rainfall patterns have a significant effect on the cumulative rainfall threshold, the build-up of pore pressure, and the occurrence of shallow landslides, both in space and time.
This study aims to classify agricultural entrepreneurship preparation patterns for middle-aged adults and to explore their demographic characteristics, occupational characteristics, and agricultural entrepreneurship related variables. After the beginning of Web2.0 era, newly developed interaction design patterns based on Ajax(Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) have been tried in various Web2.0 services. These new interaction design patterns enable web service to provide rich experience for users. However, it is very hard to find organized task based guideline about Web2.0 interaction design even though there are a lot of complicated interaction design techniques and patterns. It is essential to have Web2.0 interaction guide based on Ajax because it can guide designers to use appropriate interaction design patterns and to keep usability for ordinary users. Therefore, this research aims to establish task based interaction design guideline for Web2.0 service based on Ajax. The reason why this research focused on Ajax is that Ajax is most widely used language for Web2.0 service. First, primary five interaction design patterns were defined through analysis of various interaction design patterns from Web2.0 services. Second, detail interaction design tasks from five major patterns were analyzed based on the study of major Web2.0 services such as Gmail, Twitter, YouTube and Google maps. Third, general design guidelines such as heuristic guidelines for web service are studied through literature review. After all, this study proposed task based interaction design guide for Web2.0 service with Ajax. With this guide, designers and developers can choose appropriate Web2.0 interaction patterns and apply to their service and provide service to users with enhanced usability and satisfaction.
This study intended to investigate correlations between the consumption tendency, determination factors of the distribution of Korean cosmetics, and purchasing patterns of Korean cosmetics. This study investigated characteristics and differences between each factor by analyzing consumption tendency, determination factors of distribution channels, and purchasing patterns of Korean cosmetics of adult women in their 20 ~ 50s who have used Korean cosmetics and reside in Beijing, China. It also, investigated the effect of the shopping propensity of consumers on determination factors of the distribution channels and purchasing patterns of Korean cosmetics. According to the results of our investigation, it was identified that 'pleasure-seeking tendency' and 'brand-seeking tendency' have postive effects on 'service', and 'pleasure-seeking tendency', 'brand-seeking tendency', and 'rational purchasing propensity' have positive effects on 'professionalism'. In regards to the effect of shopping propensity on purchasing patterns of Korean cosmetics, it was identified that 'brand-seeking tendency' has a positive effect on 'planned purchasing behavior', 'brand reputation seeking behavior', and 'dedicated purchasing behavior'. It was verified that 'rational purchasing propensity' has positive effect on 'planned purchasing behavior', 'pleasure-seeking tendency' and 'trend-seeking tendency' on 'brand reputation seeking behavior', and 'trend-seeking tendency' on 'dedicated purchasing behavior'. This study is expected to provide basic data for Korean cosmetics brands to use for improving the marketing of products entering the Chinese market by using appropriate distribution channels. These channels are determined through identifying the correlation of each factor consumption tendency of Chinese women, determination factors of the distribution channels Korean cosmetics, and purchasing patterns of Korean cosmetics.
The current study aims to link Korean tradition to modern culture; to re-produce patterns of lotus depicted in Minwha, The study also aims to discover the beauty of Korean tradition and to modernize it. The current study is based upon document searches(including research papers) and the Internet searches. Through these searches, it investigates the concept of Minhwa, the origin of lotus depiction and its symbolic meanings, the traits of such pattern. Based upon this investigation, the study attempts to modernize the patterns of lotus and apply the modernized patterns to designing shirts. The process which employs the lotus patterns illustrated in Minhwa to shirt design includes four sub-processes: selecting, allocating, coloring, and selecting production techniques. The sub- process of selecting patterns is two folded: the first stage covers carbon-copying the distinctive features of lotus, lotus leaf, lotus bud, lotus pip, and lotus stem; the second stage is making these features suitable to shirt sizes. For the process of coloring those shirts, Piccaso's work(Pablo Picasso, 1881~1973) has been selected and the colors in his work have been adopted to dye the rest of the shirts as well as the lotus features. The process of selecting production techniques includes ornament tail in order to modernize the patterns allocated in the shirts. Once these processes are completed, the shirts are made on a scale of real-life size. These processes of creating shirt design by modernizing traditional patterns will hopefully contribute to researchers expanding the domain of shirt design.
Soldering is the usual method used to correct an unstable fixed partial denture framework at patient's try-in; However, presoldering base metal alloys is technique-sensitve and results are unstable because it is difficult to maintain uniform heat distribution and to prevent oxidation of an alloy. A cast-joining technique has been developed by Weiss and Munyon for repair, correction and addition to base metal framework. This joining technique eliminates the problem with presoldering of non-precious frameworks. The object of this study was to 1) compare the relative flexure strength and the joining effectiveness of Ni-Cr-Be cast in two pieces and 'pre-soldered' versus in two pieces and 'cast-joined'. 2) determine the effect of increasing the number of retentive grooves on the face of the cast and 3) determine the effect of the relative matched position of groove patterns on flexure strength. The joining effectiveness can be expressed by the ratio of the mean flexure stress of soldered or cast-joined specimens to that of one-piece cast. Resin rods 3mm in diameter were used as pattern of specimens for one-piece casted, presoldered, and cast-joined groups. Cast-joined specimens had two different patterns of retentive grooves on the joined faces. Type A had cross-shaped grooves 1mm in depth. 0.6mm in width. Type B was the same except for the addition of one more retentive groove. In the experiment connecting cast-joined specimens, half of specimens with type A pattern had their patterns on the faces of paired casts matched with each other as mirror image. With the rest pairs, it was proceeded that one of paired casts turned 45 degrees so that the patterns crossed. Half of specimens with type B pattern also had the patterns matched as mirror image; However, here, one of paired casts turned 90 degrees with the other pairs. Retentive groove in this study lacked the intentional undercuts, in contrast with the suggestion of Weiss and Munyon. The specimens were subjected to four-point flexural loading in an Instron testing machine. The midspan flexural stress was calculated at the point of initial plastic strain as determined from a strip-chart recorder or at the point of failure if this occured at a lower stress level. Within the scope of this study, the following results were obtained. 1. The presoldered group showed flexural strength at least 2 times higher than the cast-joined groups. Its joining effectiveness was 82%. 2. In cast-joined groups, the flexural strength of joints with type B patterns exhibited 1.5 times that of joints with type A patterns. Joining effectivenesses were 38% for type B patterns, 25-26% for type A patterns. 3. The relative matched position of groove patterns did not have any significant effect on flexural strength of the cast-joined specimens with either type A patterns or type B patterns(p>.05).
The purpose of this study was to examine patterns ofmoney management and control of family finances. The data for this study were collected from 311 wives who were currently employed in professional, managerial, and clerical occupation living or employed in Seoul. Frequency, percentage and cross-tab analysis were used to analyze the data. The results were as follows: 1) money management patterns were classified into six types; wife-management pattern, wife-management/husband-alienation pattern, wife-management/husband-involvement patter, joint management pattern, joint/separate mixed pattern, and multi management pattern. Among them wife-mannagement pattern was used most frequencly by the couples. 2) Four family finance control patterns were found and named by joint control, wife control, husband control, and self control. The joint control pattern was found to be the most prevalent one. 3) Money management patterns influenced how family finances were controled.

Energy efficiency is vital to improve energy security, environmental and social sustainability, and economic performance. Improved energy efficiency also mitigates climate change by lowering greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Buildings are the single largest industrial consumer of energy and are therefore key to understanding and analyzing energy consumption patterns and the opportunities for saving energy at the district level in urban environments. This study focused on two representative boroughs in the major metropolitan area of Seoul, South Korea as a case study: Gandong-gu, a typical residential district, and Jung-gu, a typical commercial district. The sources of the energy supplied to the boroughs were determined and consumption patterns in different industry sectors in Seoul used to identify current patterns of energy consumption. The study analyzed the energy consumption patterns for five different building categories and four different sectors in the building using a bottom-up energy modeling approach. Electricity and gas consumption patterns were recorded for different building categories and monthly ambient temperatures in the two boroughs. Finally, a logarithmic equation was developed to describe the correlation between commercial activity and cooling energy intensity in Jung-gu, the commercial district. Based on these results, recommendations are made regarding the current energy consumption patterns at the district level and government energy policies are suggested to reduce energy consumption and, hence, greenhouse gas emissions, in both commercial and residential buildings.
The purpose of this study was to suggest torso patterns that fit the three main body shapes of elderly obese women. To reduce time, costs, and also the trial and error needed to make patterns, the CLO program for 3D test wear was employed. Three virtual models for aged obese women were use, with the YUKA system used to produce torso patterns. 3D simulation of test wear and corrections was done to design optimal torso patterns. The results were as follows: First, for the three models of obese women's body shapes as realized by CLO 3D, Type 1 is lower-body obesity shapes, Type 2 is abdominal obesity shapes, and Type 3 is whole-body obesity shapes. Second, to design the study patterns, actual measurement values, back waist length and waist to hip length, were used. The armhole depth (B/4-1.5), front interscye (B/6+2.3), front neck width (B/12-0.5), front neck depth (B/12+0.5), front waist measurement (W/4+ 1.5+D), front hip measurement (H/4+2+0.5), and back hip measurement (H/4+3-0.5) were calculated using formulas. Third, according to the results of test-wearing the study patterns, reduced front neck width and depth improved the neck fit and reduced armhole depth bettered loose or plunging armhole girth and also reduced the sagging of bust c.. Also, tight sidesfrom aprotruded waist and abdomen improved with the increase of surpluses in the back waist and also back and front hip c. The exterior was enhanced by displacement of back and front darts, which distributed surpluses better.
