Methods: A one group pre-post experimental study design was utilized in this study. The effectiveness of the system was examined through quality of nursing diagnoses, interventions, and outcomes and electronic nursing record system satisfaction inventory. Junior and senior nursing students were the potential study respondents and evaluation instruments were applied only for the one who agreed to participated in the study. Education about nursing process and electronic nursing record system was carried out as part of regular classes and students were guided to prepare nursing process upon the scenarios developed earlier. Results: 29 juniors and 33 seniors prepare nursing process documentation related to each scenario and both groups showed significant improvement upon nursing process documentation (t=7.53, p<.001, t=3.23, p=.003, respectively) compared to paper based nursing process preparation. Satisfaction about system itself was 2.78(0.81). Conclusion: Educational electronic nursing record system seems to be effective to train nursing students for nursing process preparation ability. Effort to enhance its utility are called in the area of education and system itself.

Purpose: This study aimed to develop an intentional rounding protocol to enhance the clinical competence of nursing students. Methods: An intentional rounding protocol for nursing students' clinical practice was developed following the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. A convenient sampling method was used to select 23 junior year university nursing students during their clinical practice in adult nursing. The program evaluation included a quantitative assessment (communication and relationship efficacy, empathy, and patient safety competency) and focus group interviews. Results: The intentional rounding protocol focused on the 4Ps (pain, position, potty, and possessions) and encompassed aspects such as level of consciousness, pain management, personal care needs, intravenous injection, oxygen administration, nasogastric/nasoenteric tube care, maintenance of urine collection bags, and the identification of environmental fall risks. Nursing students performed intentional rounding at least twice a day. Following the implementation of this protocol, nursing students demonstrated a significant improvement in communication and interpersonal efficacy. The focus group interviews revealed four main themes: growth of human relationships, acquiring knowledge in and about the clinical field, becoming a nurse, and barriers in reality. Conclusion: The intentional rounding protocol has the potential to enhance nursing students' communication and interpersonal skills during clinical practice and to provide them with positive experiences in nursing clinical education. Therefore, it is recommended that this protocol be incorporated into nursing clinical practice education.

Purpose: This study examined the effects of a gender-friendly environment and the communication competence of male nursing students on college life adaptation. Methods: The participants included 221 male nursing students from the nursing departments at five universities. Data were collected using self-report questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regressions with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Results: The participants' scores on the gender-friendly environment, communication competence, and college life adaptation were 58.41±10.96, 56.19±7.32, and 117.37±16.86, respectively. Factors influencing male nursing students' college adaptation included satisfaction with major, communication competence, academic grade, and economic level. These variables together explained 59% of college adaptation in male nursing students (F=26.74, p<.001). Conclusion: The findings demonstrate that the development and application of educational programs for communication competence and a gender-friendly educational environment are essential in enhancing the adaptation of male nursing students to college life.

Data were analyzed using IBM SPSS 21.0. The $x^2$ test and the t-test were used to analyze the homogeneity of subjects' general characteristics and disaster-related characteristics. The comparison between the Korean and Japanese nursing students in disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and nursing knowledge and practices were conducted using ANCOVA. Results: The Korean nursing students' disaster awareness, disaster preparedness, and nursing knowledge and practice were different from their Japanese counterparts'. The Korean nursing students recognized that the system of disaster management in Korea was insufficient and the negligence of management was one of the causes of the disaster. The purpose of this study was to identify the factors influencing the disaster nursing preparedness of nursing students. A descriptive survey study was carried out from June 12 to October 16, 2017, the subjects were junior and senior grade nursing students. Data were analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis using the SPSS program. The influencing factors on the disaster nursing preparedness were lower confidence of disaster nursing (β =-.21, p<.001) and disaster nursing knowledge (β=.15, p=002). 10.2% of the variance in disaster nursing preparedness was explained by these two factors on multiple regression analysis. In order to improve the preparedness of nursing students for disaster nursing, nursing students' confidence in disaster nursing should be improved, and a systematic and practical disaster nursing curriculum should be developed.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop an elderly care volunteer program for nursing students and to evaluate its effects. Method: An elderly care volunteer program was developed and then used with 77 nursing students for 6 months. Before and after the program, students responded with a questionnaire on knowledge, attitude and behavior toward the elderly. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, t-test, and Repeated measure ANOVA. Result: The elderly care volunteer program significantly improved knowledge toward elderly between the experimental and control groups but not in attitude and behavior toward elderly. Conclusion: This study shows that the elderly care volunteer program was an effective service-learning program to improve knowledge toward elderly for nursing students.
Purpose: This study was conducted to determine the predictors of cultural sensitivity for nursing students in Korea. Methods: The participants in this study were 332 nursing students. Data collection was conducted through the use of questionnaires which were constructed to include a Cultural Sensitivity Scale, Knowledge of Culture, Interpersonal Reaction Index, and Self-efficacy Scale. Results: Results showed that cultural sensitivity of nursing students was middle range. Knowledge level of culture was very low. There was a significant positive correlation between cultural sensitivity and knowledge of culture, empathy, and self-efficacy. The significant factors influencing cultural sensitivity of nursing students were empathy, self-efficacy, experience of an overseas trip and awareness of cultural education. These four factors explained 23.8% of the variance in cultural sensitivity of nursing students. Conclusion: These results indicate that cultural sensitivity is an important link with empathy and self-efficacy in nursing students. For nursing students to enhance cultural sensitivity, a transcultural nursing curriculum needs to develop for appropriate and effective services in cross-cultural situations of the multicultural families in Korea.
