This study was performed to investigate Seoul undergraduate students' thoughts on funeral rites and sacrificial rituals as well as ritual foods. A total of 542 students offered answers that the importance of sacrificial rituals was connected to filial piety for the ancestor, the customs descended from the past, and the belief that descendents received fortunes. The students didn't know the funeral rites process, but acknowledged they needed to know funeral rites, and would perform their parents' sacrificial rituals. We also found that students whose hometowns were Gangwondo and Jejudo were familiar with sacrificial rituals foods as well as their preparation and cooking. Also, the older the students, the better they knew the funeral rites process, sacrificial rituals and ritual foods. There were great differences in sacrificial rituals according to parent and student religions. Buddhists knew the most about funeral rites and sacrificial rituals, followed by Roman Catholics and agnostics. Protestant Christians were not interested in sacrificial rituals. The funeral rites process and the handing down of sacrificial ritual foods had significant differences based on sibling number. The more brothers and sisters in a family, the more committed they were to performing their parents' sacrificial rituals and the higher their interest in sacrificial ritual foods.

In the last few years, there has been a significant growth of interest in how the philosophy of science can be related to science education. Adequate understanding of the philosophy and history of science can promote understanding of the nature of science in teacher and student. The 6th curriculum in Korea has also placed emphasis upon understanding of the nature of science. From this point of view, to ensure effective school science education it is necessary to investigate how teachers and students are understanding the nature of science. To do this 45 secondary science teachers and 191 students of 7 schools in Seoul are administered Nott and Wellington's questionaire(1993). This questionaire is consisted of 24 Likert Scale statements and asks questions on 5 subscales of philosophy of science :Relativism-Positivism, Inductivism-Deductivism, Contextualism-Decontextualism, Instrumentalism-Realism, Thinking science education as a Process or a Content. The results of this study are as follows : 1. Teachers' view of the nature of science was relativism, deductivism, decontextualism and instrumentalism. And they thought process is more important than content in science education. 2. There was no difference in teachers' conceptions on the nature of science according to experience and gender. 3. Students' view of the nature of science was relativism, deductivism, decontextualism and instrumentalism. And they thought process is more important than content in science education. 4. There was no difference in students' conceptions on the nature of science according to schools level(middle vs high) and gender. But, female students exhibited higher score than male students on deductivism(p<.05). 5. Teachers' and students' conception of the nature of science was in agreement with each other.

The Study aimed to observe Science Experience's Type in parent school out of school institution and Meaning of Middle School- Science Gifted Students in Korea. Twelve middle school gifted education institution and science high school students participated in this study. Data source was retrospective and in-depth interviews with individuals. Results were as follows. First, science experience with parents influenced interest and inquiring mind in science, choice of career in field of science. Second, science experience in school curriculum recognized that gifted students have talents of themselves in science and changed in Attitude toward science from science teacher. Third, science experience with education institution for out of school curriculum changed interest in science from Experiment for identified scientific knowledge and obtained new product through creative inquiry process. Furthermore, It was gained self-confidence, feel a sense of accomplishment and a challenging, the spirit of team work including of taking lead the team.
The purpose of this study is to investigate previous data and possibility of the new culture building, insuring substantiality of the education in junior college, increasing of practical carrier, acquiring the money for practical class, and the direction of demand for education in a high level of industrial society. There's two parts to consist of investigation and the model case in wedding business in Junior college. The research groups in one part consist of 277 students in Junior college. The result were as follows: 1) The students would like to get the wedding business in new culture building. (72%) 2) The student shave got a idea to recommend to use the wedding facilities for their for their relative sand friends. (51%) 3) The trend of selecting in wedding facilities is outside than inside of facilities. (75%) 4) They would like to have the buffet service after wedding celemony, not a la carte for choose the meal. The above research data suggest that if the wedding facility's management would be accept, we could have expectation about development of junior college, emphasis of practical education and good wedding culture in this areas. For the most of student, they has a righ hand to manage the wedding facility in their college. First, the culinary students could have an experience of service practies to the customer in wedding celemony, as the result of training will be great. Second, the college could show their vision and hope to customer to interest it. Third, it can be supplied the right wedding culture and the wedding facilities which is low price and good circumstance for wedding. Fourth, it's very resonable to use the culture facilities during no class, Saturday and Sunday. Fifth, income from business can be used only a scholarship and a community development. Sixth, it can be induced the self-participication and motivation to take up a positive attitude for their life.

Utilizing programming languages for data visualization can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness in handling data volume, processing time, and flexibility. However, practice is required to become proficient in programming. Therefore public data-based the problem bank was developed to practice data visualization in a programming automatic assessment system. Public data were collected based on topics suggested in the curriculum and were preprocessed to make it suitable for users to visualize. The problem bank was associated with the mathematics curriculum to learn various data visualization methods. The developed problems were reviewed to expert and pilot testing, which validated the level of the questions and the potential of integrating data visualization in math education. However, feedback indicated a lack of student interest in the topics, leading us to develop additional questions using student-center data. The developed problem bank is expected to be used when students who have learned Python in primary school information gifted or middle school or higher learn data visualization.
The self-efficacy of pre-service teachers has been reported as a major factor in the instruction of the curriculum. In particular, considering the importance of science learning instruction for underrepresented students from the viewpoint of science education for all, pre-service elementary teachers' self-efficacy about science instruction for underrepresented students will be an important factor of science education for these students. The purpose of this study is to investigate the self-efficacy of pre-service elementary teachers in science instruction for underrepresented students. To this end, the science teaching and learning self-efficacy test tool (Lee & Im, 2010) was revised in accordance with the context of science teaching for underrepresented students into a total of 24 items using 5 Likert scales. Through using the test tool consists of 3 dimensions as Learning Efficacy, Teaching Efficacy and Outcome Expectancy, 81 pre-service elementary teachers were surveyed and the reliability of test tool was verified through factor analysis and assessing construct validity by using the responses. As a result of the analysis, setting 5 as the standard perfect score, the average score of self-efficacy per dimension was shown as 3.29 in Learning Efficacy, 2.89 in Teaching Efficacy, and 3.39 in Outcome Expectancy. We confirmed the tendency and difference of self-efficacy of the research objects according to their background factors in which direct and indirect experience relating to the science education for the underrepresented students. Also, we verified that pre-service elementary teachers' interest in science subject matter, teaching science and their perception of the value of science learning had significant relations with self-efficacy on science teaching for underrepresented students.
The purposes of this study were to investigate nursing students' Knowledge, attitudes and behavior toward the elderly and to identify the predictors of nursing student's knowledge, attitudes and behavior toward the elderly. The data were collected from 513 nursing students enrolled in ADN(Associate Degree in Nursing) program in Daegu by using structured questionnaire. The research producted following results: 1) The average score of the participants' knowledge of the elderly was $12.3{\pm}2.7$ out of 25. The average attitude score was $86{\pm}11.7$ out of 140. This score was classified as a neural range. The average behavior score was $57.5{\pm}6.9$ out of 68. 2) Among general characteristic of the participants level of knowledge was statistically significant for age, religion, educational level. 3) Participants' knowledge toward the elderly was difference significantly present not living conditions, the degree of preference for offering the nursing care of the elderly. 4) Participants' attitude toward the elderly were statistically the significant difference in the degree of the familiar interaction with the elderly, the interest in the elderly and problems of the aged. 5) Participants' behavior toward the elderly were statistically the significant difference in the degree of a current relationship with the elderly, the familiar interaction with the elderly. 6) The correlation, coefficients of participants' knowledge, attitude and behavior toward the elderly were positively correlated. In conclusion, It is necessary to develop a program for continuous teaching and education that will help increase student nurse's knowledge of the elderly and thereby positively change attitude and behavior toward the elderly.

Since the start of gifted education in 2002, educational support system has now been established, and sufficient growth in quantitative aspects has been achieved in Korea. On the other hand, they report that there are insufficient points in terms of education quality. In other words, most of the gifted education simply expands knowledge by prior-learning. In order to improve the quality of gifted education, they should enhance critical-thinking and creativity able to apply interdisciplinary principles or phenomena for solving problems. In this study, we designed and developed a convergent teaching-learning materials based on the concept of integrated education, which explore the process that basic logic operations such as AND, OR, XOR do the role of computer cells. A survey result showed that student satisfaction(usefulness, understanding, interest) of the materials is significantly higher than that of other traditional learning topics, and the design intent was met.

As the number of minority students such as multicultural, North Korean defectors, and low-income groups increases, more research is needed in science education to help their learning. Due to the various growth backgrounds and learning environments of the underprivileged students, there is a big difference in the individual characteristics of the group rather than the whole group characteristics. In this study, we conducted about 50 hours of science lessons for seven students in the underprivileged class, categorized them by observing and interviewing the characteristics of their science learning. Seven underprivileged students showed five different learning patterns, these are 'I love science', 'I think I know science', 'I want to know science', 'I need to know science', and 'I don't know what I want'. Although the scientific activities they experienced were not all of an excellent educational quality, their interest in science learning has increased with their experience in science activities. It shows the need to provide more abundant science experience and educational opportunities for these minority students who can only experience science learning under the public educational system.
The purpose of this study was to develop a test of a creative problem solving (CPS) for the selection of gifted science students in elementary school. For this, the methods and procedures of the selection of gifted science students was investigated through the internet homepages 23 gifted science education centers of universities and 16 city. province offices of education. The results of this study were as follows: Most of the gifted science students were selected through a multi-step examination process. They were selected on the basis of their records by recommendation of a principal or a classroom teacher in their school, by operation of standardized tests (ex. intelligence quotient score, achievements in science and mathematics, interest and attitude/aptitude for science as well as through other means), as well as through intensive observation of those gifted science students who are selected by interview and oral tests. The selection of gifted students was not evaluated through creativity testing; giftedness in city. province office of education. Testing of CPS was found to be especially lacking in these organizations. For the development of the test items of CPS in science, the five elements were extracted through the framework for the content analysis of the CPS: problem exploration, problem statement, solution thinking, experiment design, and assesment. In addition, suggestions were made regarding an appropriate scoring system for the test of the CPS. As the result of the developed test was applied to the 4th grade of the gifted and general student, we found that gifted students were superior to general students. In conclusion, it was that the CPS test developed in this study should be used to evaluate the CPS for the selection of gifted students.
