Purpose: This study was to explore the postnatal care experiences among first time Chinese immigrant mothers living in Korea. Methods: Data were collected by focus group interviews with 12 first time Chinese immigrant mothers utilizing 3 focus groups. After obtaining written informed consent from all participants, each session of the focus group was audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data were analyzed by content analysis to identify major themes. Results: Four major themes for postnatal care experiences were extracted from the data as follows. 1) Range over traditional, modern, Korean or Chinese postnatal care, 2) Struggle with newborn care, 3) Another struggle with breastfeeding, and 4) Difficulties in becoming a mother as an immigrant. Conclusion: Based on their postpartum care experiences, it is concluded that participants requested more professional practical and individualized education/training for successful breastfeeding and newborn care. Health care providers need to develop and implement integrated support and mentoring programs that include information and peer support system for the first time Chinese immigrant mothers living in Korea. This would decrease the difficulties of becoming a mother.

Sam Shepard is one of the leading American playwrights who represented Off-Off Broadway in the l960s and 1970s. In his early days, he wrote many experimental plays but later he turned to realism. However, under the superficial realism in his later plays, we find that they contain experimental devices and themes. True West (1980) is the last play of ills realistic family trilogy. This play shows that the tradition of Old West, which is symbolized and replaced by desert, disappeared in the industrialized clues of modern West. The Old West is compared which the modern West through the struggle of two brothers, Lee and Austin. Their father, 'Old Man', ran out on his family and went to the desert but did not succeed there. He shows that he failed in achieving the American Dream. The family appears unusual and demolished The relationships of the characters are not based on love and belief. The family symbolizes the negative aspects of modern American society. After Austin recognizes the actual situation finding that there is no real life in the modern West, he tries to leave the city and his family. He wants to go to the desert in search of a new life. However, in the last tableau Lee blocks the exit and the two brothers square off. It implies that they are doomed to continue their struggle. The message Implies that American society today is lacking the same positive values they once had in the Old West.

이 연구는 연금개혁 정치에서 노동조합의 영향력, 전략, 그리고 이것이 연금개혁에 가져온 결과에 관한 것이다. 분석 사례는 1994년부터 2004년 사이의 이탈리아 연금개혁이다. 노조의 영향력 면에서 1990년대에 이탈리아 노조는 연금개혁의 중요한 행위자였으나 2004년 개혁에서는 노조의 영향력이 약화되었다. 이는 좌파분열이라는 권력자원의 변화뿐만 아니라 1990년대 노조주도의 연금 삭감을 경험하고 노조가 연금정책에서 노조원의 이익 보호를 강조한데 따라 연금이슈의 성격이 달라졌기 때문이다. 전략 면에서 이탈리아 사례는 노조가 코포라티즘적 협의를 추구하느냐 대중적 저항을 선택하느냐는 기본적으로 정부 태도에 달려있음을 보여준다. 1994년 연금개혁 실패로 촉발된 정권교체를 경험한 후 이탈리아 정부는 사회적 합의를 추구하였다. 협의절차가 강조된 1995년 디니개혁에서 이탈리아 노조는 협의에서 주도권을 가졌을 뿐만 아니라 노조내 민주주의를 적극적으로 추구하였다. 노조는 토론과 전체 투표 등을 활용하여 전투적 노조부문의 반대를 누르고 정부와의 협의 결과에 대한 승인을 얻었다. 한편 연금개혁 정치에 노조가 참여한 결과 면에서, 노조는 장기가입자의 기득권 보호에 집중된 성과를 얻었다. 소기업 노동자들의 연금 미가입 문제와 젊은 세대의 급여적절성 등은 연금개혁에서 도외시되었다. 노동조합이 주도하는 타협이라는 호조건과 노조민주주의를 실현하는 가운데에서도 노조의 제도개혁에 대한 영향력은 제한되었다.

이 연구는 밀양송전탑반대투쟁에 참여한 여성주민들의 구술생애사를 분석해, 분단으로 인한 이념 대립 속에서 일어난 국가폭력의 체험이 환경운동 참여의 생애사적 맥락으로 작용하고 있음을 밝혔다. 이 연구의 사례자들은 사회운동 참여를 통해 가족이 경험한 국가폭력과 그것으로 인한 자신의 트라우마를 드러냄으로써 가족의 삶의 정당성을 주장하고 자신의 상처를 치유해 새로운 삶으로 나아간다. 강요된 침묵을 깨고 상처를 드러내 치유하는 힘은 사회운동 속에서 발견한 연대의 힘이다. 이 연구에서의 이러한 발견은 한국의 다양한 사회운동의 형성과 전개에 국가폭력의 체험이 깊이 자리 잡고 있으며, 여전히 많은 사회성원들의 기억속에 은폐되고 억압되어 있을, 국가폭력으로 인한 트라우마를 치유하기 위해 더 많은 민주주의와 연대의 힘이 필요함을 시사한다. 또한 이 연구는 구술생애사 기록의 중요성을 드러낸다. 구술생애사 기록은 공식 역사에서 배제된 사람들과 문자문화에 편입될 수 없었던 사람들의 행위와 역사를 기록함으로써 그 사회에 대한 이해를 확장하고자 하였다. 공적 기록만으로 역사적 사건의 전모를 파악할 수 없다는 것은 주지의 사실이며 다양한 주체들의 기록을 모으는 것은 그러한 의미에서 중요하다. 공적 기록은 사건의 진실을 보여주는 증거가 되기도 하지만 대립이 있었던 사건의 경우 남겨진 기록만으로는 균형 잡힌 이해에 도달하기 어렵기 때문이다. 따라서 이 연구를 통해 생산한 밀양 송전탑 반대투쟁참여 여성들의 구술생애사는 지역의 역사와 사회적 행위에 대해 풍부하고 균형 있는 맥락을 제공한다는 의의를 갖는다.

The paper aims to analyse the development of algebra and calculus during the Scientific Revolution. It will argue that the introduction of algebra into the learning world was never smooth but invited struggle with traditional geometry, which is well illustrated in the development of calculus in the 17th century. The paper will also demonstrate that the invention and the acceptance of calculus had been influenced by the need of solving practical problems (e. g., motion) during the century.

1) 측좌핵파괴 후 muricide를 비롯하여 startle, struggle등의 정동행동의 변화가 뇌손상 초기에는 현저히 발현되나 muricide를 제외하고 기간경과와 함께 점차 감소한다. 2) 봉선핵파괴 동물은 muricide, moose-eating behavior 등의 극심한 정동행동의 변화를 유발한다. 3) 측자핵파괴로 유발된 muricide는 1-DOPA, nomifensine, desipramine 등에 의하여 현저히 억제되었으나 HPD 에는 감수성이 낮았다. 봉선핵파괴로 유발된 muricide는 L-5-HTP, 4) 봉선핵파괴로 유발된 muricide는 L-5-HTP, clomipramine, nomifensine 등에 의하여 현저하게 억제되었다.

진화 가능한 하드웨어의 개발은 유전자 알고리즘의 새로운 가능성을 열어주었고 이에 적합한 다양한 방법이 제시되어 왔다. 하지만 일반적인 유전자 알고리즘으로는 Genetic drift가 생기거나 지역해에 빠지는 등 한계가 있기 때문에 이를 해결하기 위한 방안으로 종분화 알고리즘이 도입되고 있다. 현재까지 다양한 종분화 알고리즘이 소개되었는데 이들은 이전의 알고리즘과 비교하였을 때 높은 다양성을 유지하면서 더 좋은 해를 찾아낸다. 이 논문에서는 진화 하드웨어상에서 이러한 종분화 알고리즘들의 장단점 및 특징을 여러 비교기준을 통해 제시한다. 실험결과 Deterministic Crowding과 Struggle GA가 가장 좋은 성능을 나타내었다.

본 연구는 서울 영등포구 대림동 인근에 집단적으로 거주 및 활동하고 있는 중국 동포들을 심층 면담하는 질적연구방법을 사용하였다. 이를 통해 이들의 이주초기와 현재의 지역사회에 대한 인식변화 및 현실문제를 극복하려는 대응방법을 고찰하였다. 이들이 처해 있는 현실과 갈등, 현안의 극복 노력, 동포사회 내부변화와 지향방향 등을 이해하는 것은 우리사회로의 통합에 핵심변수가 된다. 이들은 이미 방대한 거주지를 형성했고 소수자집단화 되었으며 인정투쟁을 하는 동시에 권력의 열세를 극복하고자 정치권력을 쟁취하려고 시도하고 있다. 이들에 대한 사회복지적 개입은 외국인 유입으로 초래되는 사회파편화 방지를 위해 보다 적극적인 것이어야 하고 다민족 다문화 현상에 대한 우리의 적응과 이들을 주민으로 받아들이기 위한 상호계몽적인 질서를 구축, 전파하기 위한 방안이어야 한다.

In this study, repression of the body is defined as a restriction on natural developments or movements and a modification either temporarily or permanently of the human body in shape, color, texture and odor. In addition, it involves physical and (or) mental pain. Chinese foot-binding and the Western corset are extreme examples of female body's being repressed in the history of fashion. The analysis of this type of repression will be based on historical research and theoretical concepts such as Darwin's (1809-1882) survival condition, Freud's (1856-1939) renunciation of desire, Weil's (1909-1943) privilege, and Foucault's (1926-1984) L'Usage des Plaisirs(the use of pleasure). Chinese foot-binding symbolically represents ideal beauty, the distinction of an ethnic group, and a desire for improved social status in the struggle for political power. It also represents psychology and a esthetics of eroticism and fetishism that originate from a man's desire and his individual taste. Symbolically, the Western corset represents abundance and fecundity, obedience and devotion to religion, the sanctity of God and ideal beauty as defined by political power. It also represents psychology and aesthetics of eroticism and fetishism as man's desire and a fashion icon. In conclusion, Chinese foot-binding was pursuit of power in male ideology but Western corset was a power struggle between God and mankind.
