  • This is a brief report oil the characteristics of elderly persons in Korea for product liability and product safety. Recently. the elderly persons rapidly go on increasing in number. So, the considerations of their characteristics in product design become more and more important not only for product safety but for the commercial target. We describe a result from the survey on some of the characteristics such as Stereotypical or common expectations in type, size, motion characteristics, and direction of control operation(i.e., population stereotypes), depth perception, and tracking performance through a structured interview and experiments. Among the elderly education & counseling needs topped the list. In regression analysis, health care needs were significantly influenced by IADL(23%), duration of solitudes(4%), sex(3%), and education(l%). These variables explained 31% of the variances in health care needs. Conclusion: The result identified that health care needs should be a considered in IADL, female, duration of solitudes and education for the solitude elderly.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate what elementary teachers know about students' science misconceptions and how the teachers plan for and address their students' misconceptions in instruction. The sample included 61 teachers who participated in a teacher training program irrelative to science education. A questionnaire into which Gomez-Zwiep's semi-structured interview questions was transformed was used to examine the teachers' understandings of definition, origin, examples, and so on of science misconceptions, and their instructional strategies for addressing their students' misconceptions before and while instruction. The results showed that many teachers (about 60%) did not have appropriate understanding of students' misconceptions, that the majority of the teachers (about 75%) did not consider misconceptions at all before teaching science lessons, and that almost all the teachers (about 90%) did not know particular strategies specifically designed for misconceptions.

The Subjects were 6 Early Childhood Teachers who experienced to use Robot in their teaching and learning. The data was analyzed through semi-structured in-depth interview and teachers' journals. The results showed possibilities and limitations of R-learning. As possibilities of R-learning, it was found that robot is am attractive teaching materials. In addition, it was found that robot might be an assistant teacher. Third, robot helps children improving their social development. Fourth, teachers might get confident while using robots in their teaching and learning. However, there were limitations of R-learning. First, teachers need to understand what R-learning means. Second, there are some functional problems of R-learning. Third, there are lack of qualitative contents of R-learning. Finally, robots need to be general to every children.

Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 337 participants from nine manufacturing plants. The results of the content analysis revealed the following six categories: Individual characteristics, safety commitment, safety support and resources, safety competence and communication, production pressure, and problems with rules. Among the 14 factors in the six categories above, indirect accident experience in the individual characteristics category and no action for complying with laws in the problems with rules category had not been identified in previous studies. However, some factors, such as age, peer pressure, pay type, the lowering of risk, a masculine way of working, and supervisor position were not found in this study. • Rural people of Sudan are endowed with a deep knowledge concerning the utilization of different tree species. However research on the local knowledge related to tree species utilization still lacks adequate attention. The study objectives were to identify the existing local knowledge related to the utilization of the tree species and the existing threats to the availability of the trees. A total of 300 respondents were selected randomly from Rashad district in Nuba Mountains in 2011. Semi-structured interview, direct observation, group discussion, preference ranking and direct matrix ranking were used to collect the data. The study results revealed that people of Nuba Mountains utilize different tree species for food, medicinal purposes, fodder, firewood, construction and cultural ceremonies. The study results also indicated that the availability of trees is negatively influenced by firewood collection, agricultural expansion, drought, overgrazing and charcoal production. The study concluded that local knowledge has crucial role in tree species utilization in Nuba Mountains. Further researches to document and substantiate the local knowledge on useful tree species are highly recommended.

Methods: Roles and practices of OAPNs for cancer patients on chemotherapy were investigated by semi-structured interview and survey. Subjects were 14 OAPNs in 3 hospitals. Results: OAPNs had high level of education and certification than registered nurses. Most subjects of OAPNs were patients on chemotherapy and OAPNs used most of their time in education and expert nursing practice. 57.1% of OAPNs used delegated order. They were satisfied with their job in general, but satisfaction in communication with nurse manager or resident doctor was low. Conclusion: These results will be the concrete explanation for the nursing services of OAPNs. On the basis of theses results, more study about effects of OAPNs will be needed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of students' prior knowledge on scientific reasoning in solving a pendulum task with a computer simulation. Subjects were 60 Korean students: 27 fifth-grade students from an elementary school and 33 seventh grade students from a middle school located in a city with 300,000 people. This study adapted a pendulum task presented with a computer simulation on which subjects would use a pattern of multivariable causal inferences. The subjects were interviewed individually in a three-phase structured interview by the researcher and three assistants while he/she was investigating the pendulum task. This study showed that most students across grades focused heavily on demonstrating the primacy of their prior knowledge or their current hypothesis. In addition, students' theories that are part of one's prior knowledge have a significant impact on formulating, testing, and revising hypotheses. Therefore, this study supported the notion that students' prior knowledge had a strong effect on students' experimental intent and hypothesis evaluation.
