Robust Similarity Retrieval for Radial Distortion of Object Shape Based on the Normalized Phase Angles and Moment

  • In the content-based image search properties, form information is simple because only the contours of objects are available, and although it can effectively extract the characteristics of the objects, it is sensitive to external noise. The radial distortion, one of these noises, is most prominent in the eyewear and, due to the structural characteristics of the imaging equipment, radiative distortion occurs in almost all imaging equipment. It is very important to determine the similarity of the objects in the images in which these distortions occurred to the actual objects. In order to improve this problem, we propose a strong image search technique for formative noise and radiative distortion using regularization phase angles and moments. Through simulation using Wang DB, the proposed algorithm proved excellent performance for radiation distortion that occurs in general. In addition, a system optimized for database can be implemented by making appropriate changes to the threshold values, enabling image retrieval with the desired level of confidence in various systems. The algorithm proposed in this paper is expected to be utilized as an optimal imaging system by extracting morphological form information of multimedia data.

  • This study serves as a part for the development of an integrated structural design system. Efficient data management is essential in engineering computer applications where the volume of data is large and the data flow and sharing are required. From a viewpoint of computer application, building structures can be considered to be a mass ofdata. The centralized database(CDB) and database management system frees the application from the details of managing data storage and retrieval while providing a common pool of information. For this, systematic information analysis and modeling have to be preceded. In this paper we described the result of database modeling of building structure.

  • We develop a cash management model in which firms face randomly occurred investment projects and retrieve investments upon the maturity of these projects. Using the Markov Decision Problem approach, we examine a control policy which dynamically adjusts the cash balance under the discounted cost criterion. The existence of an optimal policy is shown under some conditions. The optimal solution procedure is developed to find the optimal points and the optimal sizes for adjusting the cash balance. In numerical experiment, we investigate important structural properties of the optimal cash management policy.

  • Generally, a user uses briefly summarized video data and text information to search video contents. To provide fast and accurate search tool for video contents in the process of searching video contents, this study proposes a method to search video clips which was partitioned from video contents. To manage and control video contents and metadata, the proposed method creates structural information based on XML on a video and metadata, and saves the information into XML database. With the saved information, when a user try to search video contents, the results of user's query to retrieve video contents would be provided through creating Xpath which has class structure information. Based on the proposed method, an information retrieval system for video clips was designed and implemented.

  • For efficient and precise searches in the Web environment, resources should be coded in a structured way. HTML does not cover semantic structure because of its fixed tagging. XML, which has emerged as an alternative standard markuplanguage, uses custom tags that allow structural searching. Therefore, this study aims to compare XML with HTML in terms of their characteristics and retrieval functions. In order to test retrieval functions of XML- and HTML-based systems, we constructed an experimental XML-based system. The XML-based system has several advantages over the HTML system. However, some improvements are needed to make the XML system more comprehensive and effective. First, XML document search engines with user-friendly interfaces are needed. Second, popular Web browsers such as Explorer and Communicator need to support XML 1.0 specification completely. Third, Open DTD format, which will allow information retrieval systems to retrieve documents and compress them into one single format, is also needed to control Web documents more efficiently.

  • As the importance or XML is increasing to manage information and exchange data efficiently in the web, there are on going works about structural integration and retrieval. The XML. document with the defined structure can retrieve the structure through the DTD or XML schema, but the existing method can't apply to XML. documents which haven't the structure information. Therefore. in this paper we propose a new clus-tering technique at a basic research which make it possible to retrieve structure fast about the XML documents that haven't the structure information. We first estract the feature of frequent structure from each XML document. And we cluster based on the similar structure by con-sidering the frequent structure as representative structure of the XML document, which makes it possible to retrieve the XML document raster than dealing with the whole documents that have different structure. And also we perform the structure retrieval about XML documents based on the clusters which is the group of similar structure. Moreover, we show efficiency of proposed method to describe how to apply the structure retrieval as well as to display the example of application result.

  • The multimedia that is characterized by multi-media, multi-features, multi-representations, huge volume, and varieties, is rapidly spreading out due to the increasing of application domains. Thus, it is urgently needed to develop a multimedia information system that can retrieve the needed information rapidly and accurately from the huge amount of multimedia data. For the content-based retrieval of moving picture, picture information is generally used. It is generally used when video is segmented. Through that, it can be a structural video browsing. The tasking that divides video to shot is called video segmentation, and detecting the cut for video segmentation is called cut detection. The goal of this paper is to divide moving picture using HMMD(Hue-Mar-Min-Diff) color model and edge histogram descriptor among the MPEG-7 visual descriptors. HMMD color model is more familiar to human's perception than the other color spaces. Finally, the proposed retrieval system is implemented as hardware.

IFC Model Data Retrieval and Regeneration Method through Property Set-based Query Language (IFC 속성 데이터기반의 질의어 개발을 통한 모델 정보 검색 및 재생성 방안)

  • In this study, a query language was developed to supplement the information retrieval and model regeneration in the case of Industry Foundation Classes (IFC)-based civil infrastructure information models. First, the IFC objects to represent the structural components, entities to manage the related properties, and relationships to connect with the mentioned elements were analyzed in a point of information flow. The results confirmed that the end-users could have problems with access and comprehend the properties and its relationships in the IFC file. Second, the IfcPropertySet-focused query method and applicable stand-alone module were proposed referring to the previous Building Information Model Query Language (BimQL). The availabilities of the proposed method were examined using the rail and sleeper information models through information retrieval and model regeneration. The most important advantage of the proposed approach is the IFC-based information retrievals that can guarantee the interoperability between software packages.

Query Reconstruction for Searching QA Documents by Utilizing Structural Components (질의응답문서 검색에서 문서구조를 이용한 질의재생성에 관한 연구)

  • This study aims to suggest an effective way to enhance question-answer(QA) document retrieval performance by reconstructing queries based on the structural features in the QA documents. QA documents are a structured document which consists of three components : question from a questioner, short description on the question, answers chosen by the questioner. The study proposes the methods to reconstruct a new query using by two major structural parts, question and answer, and examines which component of a QA document could contribute to improve query performance. The major finding in this study is that to use answer document set is the most effective for reconstructing a new query. That is, queries reconstructed based on terms appeared on the answer document set provide the most relevant search results with reducing redundancy of retrieved documents.

  • 본 논문에서는 대용량의 XML 문서를 효과적으로 저장, 관리 및 구조 기반 검색이 가능한 XML 저장관리시스템을 설계하고 구현한다. 구현한 XML 저장관리시스템은 관계형 모델을 기반으로 하고, XML 문서 전체를 저장하는 비분할 저장 모델을 사용하며, DTD에 따라 스키마가 생성되는 동적 스키마 생성 모델을 특징으로 한다. 본 논문의 XML 저장관리 시스템은 BRS 검색엔진과 ORACLE을 기반으로 하며 질의처리기 및 검색결과생성기, XML 객체관리자, XML 인덱스관리자, 구조검색엔진 등으로 구성된다. 이를 통하여 내용 및 애트리뷰트 검색 뿐만 아니라 다양한 구조 정보검색을 효율적으로 지원한다.
