Cadmium telluride (CdTe) films have been prepared on Coming 7059 glass, molybdemium (Mo), and polyimide (PI) substrates by r.f. magnetron sputtering technique. The influence of the sputter pressure on the structural and optical properties of these films was evaluated. In addition, a comparison of the properties of the films deposited on different substrates was performed.
This paper presents an analytical prediction of the prestress losses of prestressed concrete bridges. In this study a numerical procedure and computer program is developed to analyze the behavior of prestressed concrete bridges considering the time-dependent properties of material. It accounts for the aging, creep and shrinkage of concrete and the stress relaxation of prestressed steel. The structural model uses two dimensional plane frame elements with three nodal degree of freedom and is analyzed based on the finite element method. Member cross section can consist of concrete, reinforcement and prestressing steel. Two different set of equations for the prediction of time-dependent material properties of concrete are presented, which are ACI, CEB-FIP. The proposed numerical method for the prestress losses of prestressed concrete bridges is verified by comparison with reliable experimental results.
BaTiO$_3$thin films were deposited on Pt/SiO$_2$/Si substrates by RF sputtering technique. The structural and crystallographic properties were studied with deposition conditions and annealing temperatures. Deposition rates and structural properties of BaTiO$_3$thin films were investigated by the SEM, XRD and AFM. The thickness of BaTiO$_3$thin films deposited with optimized conditions was 5200[$\AA$]. The grain size was found to increase remarkably with increasing sputtering power and independent on the sputtering pressure.
This paper describes a study of the collision of hard steel spheres against aluminium thin circular plates at speeds up to 140 m/s. The tests were monitored by a high speed camera and a chronoscope, which allowed the determination of the ballistic limit and the plate deformation pattern. Quasi-static material parameters were obtained from tests on a universal testing machine and dynamic mechanical characterization of two aluminium alloys were conducted in a split Hopkinson pressure bar. Using a damage model, the perforation of the plates was simulated by finite element analysis. Axisymmetric, shell and solid elements were employed with various parameters of the numerical analysis being thoroughly discussed, in special, the dynamic model parameters. A good agreement between experiments and the numerical analysis was obtained.
Nowadays various studies related with superstructure of bridges are developed and they pursuit more effective section of bridges superstructure, material and economical application of composite materials. CFT structure(Concrete Filled Steel Tubular Structure) is developed type of composite structure that concrete is filled with steel box, and the deformation of the member, stiffness and internal force will be improved by confinement effect of steel box and concrete. This paper introduces new type of girder, CFTA girder( Concrete- Filled and Tied Steel Tubular Arch Girder) which is combined with traditional CFT structure, arch effect and prestress through carrying out the structural analysis by computer programs. The computer programs which is used are ABAQCS and MIDAS, and the 12.2m girder which is applied same load and prestresses is analyzed and compared the results respectively.
Thermal stress induced by hydration heat may produce cracks in mass concrete structure, which can result in structural problems as well as bad appearance. To minimize crack occurrence in massive structural, thus, the study put an emphasis on the determination of optimized lift height and block size. In the parametric study different sizes and lift heights were used to measure the magnitudes of hydration heat and thermal stresses for 3 different types of concrete fabricated with 1 pure cement and 2 blended Portland cements. As a result of analysis. it was found that magnitude of hydration heat and the occurrence of thermal cracks depend on the restriction conditions and material characteristics, especially adiabatic material parameters. It was also found that optimized lift height and block size can be determined from an appropriate combination of the degree of inner and outer structural restrictions.
Structural and magnetic properties of Co-Cr-Mo films were investigated in connection with sputtering conditions. Films were prepared using a convention RF sputtering system. X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy were employed to investigate structure properties. Vibrating sample magnetometry was used for coercivity and saturation magnetization measurements. Co-Cr-Mo films displayed reasonable values of perpendicular coercivity and saturation magnetization for perpendicular recording media and showed good perpendicular orientation of the hcp c-axis to the film surface. Perpendicular coercivity was strongly dependent upon substrate technique showed better c-axis orientation than hose using the stationary substrate. Co-Cr-Mo films of 2.9 at. % Mo content showed maximum perpendicular coercivity and saturation magnetization. The films deposited at lower Ar pressure showed good magnetic properties. There was no explicit relationship between the columnar structure and c-axis orientation. Co-Cr-Mo films was found to have suitable structural and magnetic properties for perpendicular recording media.
The Mg($_{1-x}$ )S $r_{x}$Ti $O_3$(x=0.1,0.2,0.3) ceramics were prepared by the conventional mixed oxide method. The structural properties were investigated with calcining temperature and composition ratio by XRD and DT-TGA. Increasing the calcining temperature from 80$0^{\circ}C$ to 100$0^{\circ}C$, second phase was decreased and average particle size was increased. The SrTi $O_3$ ceramics of calcined at 100$0^{\circ}C$ had a structure of polycrystalline perovskite without the secondary phases. The average particle size of the $Mg_{0.9}$S $r_{0.1}$Ti $O_3$ ceramics calcined at 100$0^{\circ}C$ were 0.67${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$..>......
In this work, random homogenization analysis for the effective thermal properties of a three-dimensional composite material with unidirectional fibers is presented by combining the equivalent inclusion method with Random Factor Method (RFM). The randomness of the micro-structural morphology and constituent material properties as well as the correlation among these random parameters are completely accounted for, and stochastic effective thermal properties as thermal expansion coefficients as well as their correlation are then sought. Results from the RFM and the Monte-Carlo Method (MCM) are compared. The impact of randomness and correlation of the micro-structural parameters on the random homogenized results is revealed by two methods simultaneously, and some important conclusions are obtained.
A numerical method and algorithms is proposed to perform optimization of non-linear response structures. An analytical and numerical method based finite element method is also proposed for the transformation of non-linear response into linear response. Loads transformed from this method are defined as the equivalent linear loads. With the loads and the transformed response, linear static optimization is performed for nonlinear response structure with geometric and/or material non-linearity. The results of the optimization are compared with them of typical non-linear response optimization using finite difference method. The proposed method is very efficient and derives good solution.
