Finite Element Method for Evaluation of Wave Forces (파랑하중의 산정을 위한 유한요소법)

  • 유한요소법은 구조물의 변위 또는 응력 등을 해석하기 위한 구조해석 분야에서 뿐만 아니라, 유체역학, 열역학 및 전자기학 등 각종 공학문제의 수학적 모형에 대하여 구해진 미분방정식을 푸는 기법으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 특히, 컴퓨터 기술의 급속한 발달로 인한 유한요소법의 적용범위는 더욱 확장되고 있다. 본 고는 유한요소법이 타 공학문제, 특히 유체에 관련된 문제에서 어떻게 이용되고 있는가를 소개하려 한다. 구체적으로, 해양구조물의 설계에 있어서 선결되어야 할 주요사항인 파랑하중 산정문제를 예로 들어, 유한요소법을 이용한 이의 수식화과정을 간략히 설명하였다.

  • The objective of this study is to evaluate the performance of the repaired structural walls which were severly damaged. After damaging the wall specimens by experimental test, the walls were repaired and retested to destruction. For the repairing the severly damaged walls, new concrete and new reinforcing bar are replaced with cracked concrete and the buckled reinforcing bar, respectively. The performance of repaired wall specimens are compared with that of undamaged walls.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate resistance capacity of the damaged wall structural system against earthquake ground accelerations. Two lumped damage models(5 story, 12 story) are investigated by nonlinear time history analysis. As a result of analyses, the effect of stiffness degradation due to structural damages might change the interstorydrift of the structure. Therefore the increasing interstorydrift of damaged structures might be applied to evaluate the seismic performance of damaged structures.

  • Abstract The formulation of the probabilistic finite element method was briefly reviewed. The method was implemented into a computer program for frame analysis which has the same analogy as finite element analysis. Another program for Monte Carlo simulation of finite element analysis was written. Two sample structures were assumed and analized. The characteristics of the second moment statistics obtained by the probabilistic finite element method was examined through numerical studies. The applicability and limitation of the method were also evaluated in comparison with the data generated by Monte Carlo simulation.

  • In this study, we concerned the steel cap and head part arrangement of PHC pile structure to complement existing construction process which have the defects such as highly hazardous circumstance for safety concerns and retard a term of works. The steel cap developed for supplement the stiffness between extend foundation and contact section of PHC pile that is based on structural theory. The experiments have been performed to evaluate the characteristics of behavior between head part of PHC pile using steel cap and extend foundation.

  • This study has evaluated the analysis results for the under structure of Korean tilting train(TTX). TTX has many equipments which are attached below the composite carbody. Loads due to equipments on the under structure are very complex and various types as operating condition. So applied loads are considered weight of equipments and acceleration. From the analysis, the structural safety of under structure was assessed.

  • In order to prevent the environmental pollution, the dryers are commonly used to treat sludge that one of sewages is polluting the quality of water. Rotary dryer is a good apparatus to treat them. The rotary dryer is the way that is to make substance transmission and heat using hot air between sludge particle and heated gas. In this paper, a numerical analysis was performed for the structural analysis of the 3-pass rotary dryer through the finite elemeny method and an experiment was done for the structural stability. And reasonable relation was found between analysis and experiment.

  • This paper presents the findings of an experimental study to evaluate retrofit methods which address particular weaknesses that are often found in reinforced concrete structures, especially older structures, namely the lack of the required flexural and shear reinforcement within the columns and the lack of the required shear reinforcement within the joints. Thus, the use of a high-strength fiber jacket for cases of post-earthquake and pre-earthquake retrofitting of columns and beam-column joints was investigated experimentally. In this paper, the effectiveness of the two jacket styles was also compared.
